It's no surprise to anyone that the Tropicana is still, umm, finding its way, not to put too fine a point on it. Everything is new again there, but everything is constantly changing there, too, with a roller coaster of openings, closings and returns.

Earlier this year, there was a rumor eating its way around town that Bagatelle would not only bring a beach club-slash-supper club-slash-nightclub to Trop, but -- eventually -- a hotel as well. Now, there's another new whisper circulating through Vegas folks in the know -- that DoubleTree is taking over hotel operations at the Trop.

It's news that may not be that farfetched. DoubleTree has been taking over several 'boutique' properties, assimilating the Wyndham GardensTimes Square South earlier this year. And, maybe we should refer to DoubleTree by its full name -- DoubleTree by Hilton. Yeah, the Hilton brand that just so happens to have one less presence in Vegas, these days. And, the brand that took over the Westgate (now Elara) at Planet Hollywood in the beginning of the year as well.

The rumor says that just the hotel operations would be transferred to DoubleTree while the Trop would keep running the casino, sportsbook, poker room, restaurants, and its entertainment options. We've asked DoubleTree for comment but, so far, have not received a response. The one thing we do know for sure is that, if it happens, there's going to be some serious cookie quality control to be conducted!

Isn't sportsbook run by Cantor Gaming?

@Michael James1

You're right. One less thing for them to do!

Ready to Check-in!

The LV Hilton was always a secondary hotel off the strip. This would be a great return to the strip since the Hilton brand sold-off the Flamingo Hilton years ago. Hilton Honors members don't have a hotel in Vegas to call home. This would be a hit with them. Great location, great pool. I'm ready to check-in!

I thought I heard they closed that down...

You see? Madness over there.

Don't forget that Hilton  just announced they are Taking over 300 rooms at Trump to be used as Hilton Grand Vacations time shares. . . HGV does very well in Vegas. . It's so easy to sell a week in Vegas lol . . I still hold out my private dream that Hilton buys the Fontainebleau lol

Tropicana Las Vegas - A Double Tree by Hilton

It's a done deal.  I'm a Hilton Honors member and they already have the hotel on the website, won't be taking any reservations until December but they have taken that hotel over.  I can't wait, I'm a gold member and they always upgrade me for free to a suite.
