Life Is Like A Bucket of Shrimp, Bubba Gump Coming This Winter

Watch out, Vegas photo hotspots. A wooden bench is about to take away some of your limelight.

If you haven't heard yet (and, apparently, word is still getting around), Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. will be opening its first Las Vegas location on The Strip this winter. The restaurant will be found in Harmon Corner, home to the Goretorium, a 24-hour-a-day Tropical Smoothie Cafe, a two-story Metro McDonald's, a two-story Walgreens, some Rockin' Tacos and the also coming soon Twin Peaks breastaurant. But, getting the chain restaurant to spill details on just what we will find is proving a tough crab leg to crack.

Resto reps tell us that the Las Vegas location will feature multiple stories, including outdoor dining and a great view of The Strip. But, just which stories it will occupy at Harmon Corner is not yet known. Guests who are familiar with the brand will find all their favorites on the menu, however, there will be some special Vegas additions as well. Just what, though, is being kept under (newspaper) wrap, too. We do know that meal pricing will range, on average, from $10 to $30 depending on what you order.

If you've never been to a Bubba Gump before, we're told the Shrimper's Heaven, hand-breaded coconut shrimp, chilly shrimp, fried shrimp and Japanese-style tempura shrimp, is the way to go. And, yes, there will be fries with that.

If you have been, chances are you've got a photo of yourself on the restaurant's trademark bench. An homage taken straight from the movie from which the chain is inspired, Forrest Gump.

Las Vegas will get a bench of its own complete with box of chocolates, suitcase and faux sneaks. Spokespeople are keeping quiet, though, on just where it will be located. (The puppies are definitely hushed.)

Until it opens this winter, VegasChatter fan Mark Hotzel reminds us of how much the city has been missing with the absence of Bubba Gump:

That's some terrible seafood. Ate there once in Charleston 4 years ago. Never, ever again. I'd rather eat a lifetime supply of hotdogs from slots-o-fun than eat again at Bubba Gump.

Your Fault

That's your fault for going there in Charleston. I never understood why people come here, the land of 10,000 great restaurants, and eat there. But, I echo your opinion on Bubba. We are confusing "good" with success, though, and people will stream into this place.

LV is the perfect city for a BG Shrimp. I have tried our BGS at Mall of America (twice) and it is nothing special. It's the kind of place you will try at least once and since there are people having alot of "firsts" in LV, there are lots of people willing to try it "just once".
It's mostly a deep fried menu and all of that starts tasting the same after awhile. And smelling the same.

I agree with Ugh. Judging by their joint in Lahaina the food is crap. Just another kitchy chain resto. No thanks.
