Silverton is one of the less spoken about casinos in Las Vegas. The off Strip property is about three miles south of the action near South Point and M Resort. While the TV show "Vegas Stripped" dubs South Point "The Cowboy" casino, we think that Silverton can be dubbed the "Hunters Casino."

Silverton has a log cabin feel with a decor that includes dark colors and wood. Silverton also has a large Bass Pro Shop. Just past the table games in the casino towards the Bass Pro Shop, there is a beautiful aquarium located inside what appears to be a tree.

On a recent visit to Silverton, we walked around the giant tree aquarium to see a few stingrays and giant neon fish. The aquarium has a semi-circle of seating around it so it's a nice place to relax. Keeping to the theme, there is a small group of mermaid paintings that make up the Mermaid Cove Art Gallery.

Of course, if you want the "real" thing, Silverton has live mermaid shows every Thursdays through Sundays. Check the website for the exact times.

Silverton has a theme that you won't see anywhere else. The casino is not very large and the aquarium is not comparable to the girth of the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, but it is free and a nice getaway from the Strip casinos.
