Get Ready For Boxing In 2013
This past weekend was one of the biggest boxing matches of the year as Manny Pacquiao took on Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time. The action was great for six rounds and then Juan Manuel Marquez knocked Manny Pacquiao out cold. It was brutal and scary as Pacquiao laid motionless, face down, on the ground. After a few minutes, one of the most popular boxers in the world, Pacquiao, came back to this world but it begs to question whether or not he'll fight again in the future.
Earlier in the day on Saturday, Floyd Mayweather announced that he plans to fight twice next year. The first fight would take place on May 4 with the second coming September 14. Both fights are tentatively planned to be held at the MGM Garden Arena where Mayweather has had most of his fights.
Even though boxing isn't as popular as it used to be big fight weekends in Las Vegas are still pretty amazing and busy. The May 4 fight will take place the same day as the Kentucky Derby and during Cinco De Mayo weekend.
No opponents have been announced for either fight yet, but Cinco De Mayo is usually a time for Mexican fighters to get a little shine. Both Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and interim welterweight title holder Robert Guerrero are rumored as potential opponents.
If you're a boxing fan these may be the only big name fights of 2013. Whether you're a fight fan or just like a little extra crazy in your trips to Las Vegas, you now have ammunition to begin planning for 2013.
