Bellagio and The Cosmopolitan Want You To Know That They're The Best

Everyone in Vegas, from the hotels to the restaurants, shows and nightclubs, loves to brag about awards they've received, no matter how ambiguous or unknown these awards may be. Our own guest Chatter'er Rick Lax sounded off on the "Best in Vegas" bragging nearly two years ago.

Recently, both the Bellagio, which just finished a recent room renovation, and The Cosmopolitan sent out press releases stating they each were voted a "best hotel" in the world. The Bellagio's top honor comes from Fodor's Travel Guides which deemed the hotel a Global Icon in their 2012 100 Hotel Awards. The hotel list was put together by the editorial team of Fodor's.

Meanwhile, The Cosmopolitan was named The World's Best Hotel by the new social travel website, Gogobot .The Gogobot Travelers' Favorite Awards were compiled entirely by Gogobot users -- 2.5 million people who've traveled to 60,000 destinations.

We've no doubt that Bellagio and Cosmopolitan are top stops on The Strip, but judging from the sources of these awards -- one, a travel guide book company that is used mostly by an older audience, and the other, a newfangled social media website -- it's clear that they are the best hotels for two different types of people. Sigh. Until the next batch of awards come out.... Which has actually already happened. Earlier today, Aria, MGM Grand, and Bellagio bragged about being among the "top 10 most popular U.S. hotel brands on Facebook." Where's the dislike button again?
