We walked in to see a great turnout that, at no time, felt too crowded. We saw at least five families with children probably experiencing their first shot on the ice. The skating rink itself is quite small, but big enough for kids and grown ups to have fun. Skate rentals are available. Apparently, technology has come a long way since this writer was last in ice skates. These were very cool laceless skates that were comfortable and easy to put on.
Nearby, others were roasting marshmallows over little fires. Cosmopolitan has also designed a great (although way overpriced) cocktail menu, and is offering hot chocolate and snacks at a bar near the ice. Our only gripe is that our hot chocolate was really watered down. It came out of a machine so it probably just needed to be reloaded. We also would have had more fun if it wasn’t for the forty something former ice queen hogging the center ice and relearning her lutzes and axels or whatever she was doing. Remember folks, those are basically knives on your feet and there are little kids around.

All said and done, we definitely felt nostalgic and had our hearts warmed. In our jaunts around town, we are rarely around children. It was nice to see them laughing and flailing around the ice. If you have ever been to the BLVD Social Club at The Cosmopolitan, you know the view is really cool.
Prices for ice skating at Cosmo are $15 for an all-day skating access ($10 for Nevada residents) and $5 for skate rentals. It is free to come up and take a peek and we recommend you do that. Cosmopolitan will be hosting Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday parties on the ice with different themes and DJs. Check out their websitefor details. We would also like to thank Yelp for throwing a cool party (no pun intended).

Take to the ice now through December 23 and January 5-20 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Special holiday hours will be conducted from December 24 through January 4 when the rink will be open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
