Luxor has two additions to its front desk for guests who are more inclined to avoid lines do it themselves.

Located on the far left-hand side, two iPads are available for those who want to quickly check out, with minimal fuss. Stop by any time between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. and tap in your room number and your name to give your bill a fast once-over before officially bringing your stay to an end.

Right next to the tablets, guests who are at Luxor as part of a Virgin Holidays booking, can pick up a red phone for a direct line to assistance. It's not round the clock (only offered between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.), but those who need help outside business hours can leave a message. The number for an emergency line is also listed.

Really

The fact is every hotel has some form of self-checkout.  Most CET hotels allow you to checkout from the room on the television.  Most other hotels let you call down to the front desk or a voice mailbox and do the same.  You can have the folio sent or emailed to you.  In the last 10 years I have checked out twice at the front desk and both were due to problems with the bill.
