Changes In Store For The WSOP

What a great time to release the schedule for the World Series of Poker (WSOP). Good thing there's nothing else happening that gamblers are doing this week. Regardless, we have the info and we're going to share it!

The 2012 WSOP will take place, once again, at the Rio. The schedule will feature 61 WSOP bracelet events from May 27 through July 16. Things change a little with the removal of the "November Nine". The final nine players will advance to the final table that will, once again, be delayed, but this year will return on October 28. The champion will be crowned at the final final table on October 30 in the Penn & Teller Theater.

Things will be a little different at this year's WSOP in other ways. While the tournament will remain at the Rio Convention Center, there will be almost 100 more tables available for play each day with a total of 470. The extra tables will be dedicated to cash games and there will be plenty of satellite and single-day tournament space.

All tournaments will begin at either noon or 5 p.m. and the 43rd annual WSOP will begin in typical fashion with the $500 Casino Employees event on May 27th. The Main Event will begin on July 7. While there are a handful of new events the change that will make the biggest splash is the $1 million buy-in tournament event. The buy-in for "The Big One For One Drop" includes an 11 percent donation to charity and the champion will most likely earn the largest first-place prize in poker history. Expect the rich and famous to play here.

Pre-registration for the 2012 WSOP will be available online at WSOP.com beginning February 8. View the entire schedule at WSOP.com/2012. Lastly, Caesars Entertainment is offering room specials if you're playing in the tournament.
