Is Planet Hollywood Westgate About To Become....

Where: 80 East Harmon Avenue [map], 89109

Towards the end of last year, Planet Hollywood Westgate got a new owner, but not a new name. That may, finally, be on the verge of changing, though.

Vegas Inc reported back in November that Resort Finance America bought a controlling interest in the property and "appointed Hilton Grand Vacations to rebrand the Las Vegas property as a Hilton Grand Vacations destination." But, if you thought 'Westgate' would be removed from the top of the hotel and 'PH Hilton Grand Vacations' (whew!) would be added, not so fast.

A VegasChatter fan says the name will be changing to, wait for it.... Elara. Technically, Hilton Grand Vacations Elara. Though, we don't see that being added to the top of the tower. At least, we hope not. Our anonymous tipster says the name was supposedly chosen by execs because they wanted it to rhyme with Aria and Vdara. Um. Okaaay. (For the second time this week.)

2/14 Update: It's official. Elara will start accepting reservations as of March 1.

Elara

Ugh. Awful. But maybe it's better than PH Westgate or PH Towers. Which leads me to ask, is this property totally unconnected from Planet Hollywood now? And will they get rid of the Hollywood decor, i.e. the red leather casting couches in the suite and Hollywood photos?

Timeshare

So...despite the change, visitors will  still be harassed as they stroll through the mall for time share 'schpheels'?

Questions

Yes, it will still be a timeshare and Hilton Grand Vacations will oversee sales. I'm not sure of the relationship with Planet Hollywood moving forward.
