Families Can Slide Through Vegas' New Children's Museum This Fall, Literally

Vegas visitors with kids in tow will be happy to hear that a brand new, multi-million dollar children's museum will open towards the end of the year.

This weekend, we stopped by the old museum for a children's birthday party (where the key with rambunctious four and five year olds all hopped up on cake and ice cream is to hug the walls.. and give thanks for tireless museum workers) and made a fun discovery of our own. A chatty worker let us know that the old location would close around November 19 to make way for the new experience.

Guests will find an entirely new DISCOVERY museum not just in location, but in content. None of the current exhibits will travel to the new building which will be located next to the Smith Center in Downtown Vegas. Our informant told us that families will find an Avatar exhibit as well as a Star Wars display, among many other new interactive experiences. There will also be a water-based exhibit as well.

The new $55 million location will cover 58,000 square feet and span three stories. (That's about twice as big as the current venue.) Our source says the experience will actually start on the third level and that visitors will slide down to the second and first floors. As long as it's a slide and not a stripper pole, we're all in.
