WTF? SPF Already SOL at The Trop

On Friday, we went over a bunch of new changes happening yet again at the tempestuous Tropicana Hotel. But, one that really stood out for us -- especially as we head into pool season -- is that the forthcoming, former Nikki Beach space, SPF will not open. At all. Yes, that's right. In Vegas, sh*t closes before it opens.

Don't unpack your bikinis just yet, tho. The Trop let us know that SPF space will actually be part of the hotel's just announced Bagatelle Beach and Nightclub, from nightlife operators One Group. (They are the folk behind celeb-loving STK restaurants.) From the press release:

Bagatelle, an experience touted by the New York Times as “never too early for a party,” is the originator of the “party brunch” with Champagne-fueled afternoons of a European flair. In Las Vegas, the daytime Bagatelle Beach experience will be enhanced into a full dayclub, offering Mediterranean dining, daybeds for lounging and beachside activities. Come nightfall, Bagatelle Beach will offer poolside dining access to the new full-service indoor nightclub.

Stop. You had us at champagne party brunch. Things just might be looking up for the Trop this year, after all!

Getting It Right The Second Time

Bagatelle sounds like they are going to do what Nikki Beach SHOULD have been. Nikki Beach in Miami (and other hot spots around the world) was never about having Britney Spears host an evening. Nikki Beach built its brand as an upscale dayclub/nightclub that you don't have to be under 30 to enjoy.

So, they totally screw up the Nikki Beach concept (wanting Nikki to be something that they aren't), they they end up replacing it with (essentially) a Nikki Beach concept.

Duh!
