Leave the CamelBak at home and text past these campers.

Checking out of real life hotel rooms in Vegas has become a breeze lately. Last year, shooting a text to The Mirage became better than having to say goodbye and later we checked out of MGM Grand via the web, on our iPhone, nonetheless. Of course, just hightailing it out of town still works if you don't mind risking billing headaches. With the convenience of mobile technology does anyone even bother with the cumbersome TV checkout these days? Or the front desk stop?

As easy as leaving Las Vegas might be getting, checking in has always been the more time consuming part of the trip. We begged for a mobile check-in last year, even trying to persuade the Mirage with our exclusive business if it was offered.

Turns out Caesars Palace took our advice beat them to it and offers up mobile check-in.

According to Tripadvisor readers, CP reservation confirmations now come with the following advice:

Beat the lines at check-in. Use our Texpress Service and check-in with your cell phone. It’s fast, easy and your room keys will be waiting for you at the Bell Desk.

It seems the service has been offered since at least late last year and TA reader reviews are mostly positive:
· Show them your ID, and they give you the room keys. Process took 1-2 minutes
· My experience with the Texpress service was positive and I would do it again. There was no wait at the bell desk to receive the keys

The old sandwich trick won't work at the bell desk so Texpress isn't for those looking to talk their way into an upgrade. One TA reader stated he didn't receive the room that he booked and needed to visit the front desk anyway, but we hope that was a rare exception as we are going to be all over this for our next CP stay.

We hope to see other hotels offering this service in the near future. Perhaps at others in the Caesars empire? Have you used Caesars' Texpress Service? Would you? Or do you prefer waiting in line to ask if the real Caesar lived there?
