The Early Word On Caesars' Bacchanal Buffet

After the media previews, the new Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace opened up for a weekend of sampling from Caesars staff -- and to excited reviews from the dealers we spoke with. But, the theoretical doors were ceremoniously swung open to the ultimate judges of the paying public last week. And, in our observation, there was no shortage of those clamoring to be among the first to taste the new dishes.

Saturday afternoon, we spotted a snaking line stretched from the buffet entrance past Rao's and Payard and stopping near the doors of Empress Court. Tipsters reported waits of over 90 minutes mid-week. One Yelper was turned away opening day after the buffet maxed its capacity at 10 a.m. Other Yelpsters report varying waits of two hours at lunch, no line at 4 p.m., ten minutes at 4:30 and an hour at 6 p.m. in the first week. Which means your mileage may vary.

So what have the week's first impressions been overall? Early tasters have left a buffet of praise on the restaurant's Yelp page:
· Staff and service was awesome... will definitely be back.
· Sliders were a must
· Sorry ass pan of mac and cheese (but) lobster corn chowder was amazing. I'll be back
· Almost everything was perfection
· Wicked Spoon at The Cosmopolitan was the best buffet in town. But no longer
· Dishes... easily compared to high end restaurants
· For $16.99 you will not find a better deal for breakfast
· Stone crab... dry (and) king crab was too salty (but) Peking Duck tasted like genuine duck you can get in Chinatown
· Seafood is one of their strongest points as it was served fresh
· Best Mexican food I have had in Vegas
· Desserts are on an island of awesome
· Would've waited an eternity for that food

Were you one of the first to sample the new Bacchanal Buffet? Let us know when you dined, what your wait was, and most importantly what your opinion was! As for us, we'll be dropping by soon!

Can't Wait!!.......

Vacation is coming (12 days and counting!!!!). This is a going to be a must stop while I'm there. HOWEVER, not sure that I would wait in a 2 hour line for it. Funny that the Wicked Spoon was mentioned in this article because I've only ever been there once, and I think it was just o.k. Not saying it was bad, but I didn't leave thinking "WOW, can't WAIT to go back". Can anyone tell me how the Spice Market at PH is these days? I haven't been there in about 2 years and remember it was awesome the last time I was there. Was also gonna be a "must stop" on my next trip.

I was told

by someone that has similar eating habits (besides buffets) as me that this place was great and a must go for anyone that eats buffet.

I don't frequent buffets more than a couple times a year, but would take his word and not say no if someone wanted to go.

The Best Got Best-ed?

I had Spice Market at PH and I was completely underwhelmed. It was decent but far from wow. It's in the top 10 but not the top 5 of the best.

Having been to Vegas 8x in my 28yrs, my favorite buffet has been Carnival World Buffet at Rio. The flavor was just OMG..it only loses points because it's not on the strip. But there is a free shuttle from Paris.

I haven't tried Wicked or Bacchanal, but that is the plan next trip.

I'm very fortunate to know about this thing, thanks for providing this content.
