The Fitz is truly no more.

The old Fitzgeralds facade is gone (and the iconic rainbow still for sale) and now a giant D reigns in its place.

The D Hotel finally hoisted its name/logo over its main entrance earlier today. The rebranded property will mark the end of the changeover with a week-long party bookmarked by two concerts in mid-October. Bret Michaels will jam on the Fremont Street concert stage located right next to the D on October 13 while OneRepublic will take the stage on October 20. Both Saturday night concerts will be free to the public and will begin at 10 p.m.

Vue Bar

Ironically, was down taking a look last night.

I had originally understood that the Vue Bar was going to be expanded and wrap around the building a bit. Alas, the new escalator goes up to the old Vue bar, which will reduce the seating capacity out there. Boo...

With Goldiggers only open certain nights, Vue is the one cool spot to drink outside while overlooking Fremont and watching the zip line participants whiz by.
