Seven New Things at Aria

Things are changing again at CityCenter, but -- for now at least -- most are occurring at Aria. A walk through the resort this week found seven new things, either just installed or on the way. Here's what to expect on your next visit:

1. The Carpet

We never really had a problem with Aria's casino carpet, but now that we've seen the new Vegas carpet going into place, we've changed our minds. We hate it. The new carpeting brings a new lightness to the space with a faux sun-dappled look of beige teardrops laced with lavender ribbons. See for yourself.

Old:

New:

*Note: The casino, from the tables to the slots, also features new chairs.

2. FIVE50:

SKYBOX is gone (kinda) and a new pizza joint is on the way in, FIVE50. A huge construction wall covers most of the old space while probably not doing the sportsbook any favors.

Curiously, the SKYBOX bar remains open and untouched.

3. Zarkana Box Office (x2)

What was once SKYBOX's to-go window has now been turned into a casino-level Zarkana box office window. Guests can now purchase tickets or pick them up here.

4. Starbucks

Upstairs on the promenade level, Sweet Chill is gone and Starbucks is on the way. It's one of three Starbucks coming to CityCenter.

5. Sundries Store

Right next door to the under-construction Starbucks is an under-construction Sundries Store which will, presumably, sell sundries. That's wild speculation, of course.

6. New Buffet

The new Buffet at Aria is up and running again after a quick remodel which lost most of the wall that fronts the promenade's walkway.

We hear there are gluten-free pizza and pasta choices now. And, a serve-yourself gelato station.

7. Whatever Is Happening Here

Lastly, the, erm, art installation of pyramids and cacti in front of the upstairs restaurants of Sirio, American Fish and Jean Georges Steakhouse may be disappearing. A black drape rimmed the work and jack-hammering could be heard behind it.

Not quite sure what's happening here, but seating would be nice when you're waiting for a table and the bars at the nearby restos are all full up.

Coffee and a sit

I love the additional Starbucks. It would be nice to see more benches/seating throughout Aria and CC, so if you are wandering with your coffee you could have a seat if you wanted.

Lack of seating

I went to CityCenter this weekend and boy is it hard to find a seat anywhere! The place is huge, but lacks seating where one would usually find it.
