Venetian To Showcase National Geographic's 50 Greatest Photos

January 31, 2013 at 10:08 PM | by | ()

You've seen them in print. Some, on TV. And, others, on your computer. But, chances are, you've never viewed them in real life. Now, we'll all get the chance to stand just feet away from a carefully curated collection of National Geographic's 50 Greatest Photographs at the Venetian beginning February 14.

The showcase of iconic images will be located in the space that, until recently, housed the resort's Da Vinci -- The Genius exhibit. Among the photographs that will be on display are the two featured on this page, including the mesmerizing 'Afghan Girl' portrait shown below. More intriguing is that some of the photos will be featured alongside "near frames," images taken right after or right before "the perfect shot." Documentary video clips also will be shown.

The exhibit is being touted as a "limited engagement," but with no specific end date. Da Vinci enjoyed a seven-month run at Venetian to give you an idea of whether or not you'll be able to catch it.

Hours of operation will be daily from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the last ticket sold at 6 p.m. Pricing will $16 for general admission and $13 for students, Nevada residents, military and seniors. Children 12 and under will be free with a paid adult. Interestingly, pricing is about $8-$10 lower than admission prices for Da Vinci.

Even though the Guggenheim didn't quite work as well as expected (just a little before its time for Las Vegas), it is great to see Sheldon and Company doing these kind of displays.
