The Dude Will Temporarily Abide And Sing In Las Vegas This April

It's not quite a residency. But, it is suitably almost inscrutable. For the first time, Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges will be singing and playing his music in Las Vegas this April. And, has chosen to go way off Strip, playing the Red Rock and Santa Fe Station.

We're kind of surprised a well-known star would navigate that far away from The Strip, but Bridges has always seemed to move to the beat of his own drum. The two gigs are in support of his first solo album, Jeff Bridges, released last year.

Bridges is one of those multi-talents that include being a fantastic photographer. His on-set black and white photos make us truly covet his unusual Wide-Lux camera. But, we were unfamiliar with the extent of his musical chops. Or, even that he writes his own songs. He'll be performing those compositions on Friday, April 19 at the Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station. And, the next night, April 20, in the Rocks Lounge at Red Rock Casino. Local troubadour Michael Grimm has been working that lounge in recent months.

Last time we encountered Mr. Bridges was at a press conference for Tron: Legacy. He was, um, relaxed. And, before that at a press junket for The Fisher King. He was, um, relaxed. But, there is a zen quality about the man that we find interesting in interviews. As for his music, we imagined a folk slash country vibe before we started Googling for video clips. And, we weren't far off. So, here's a taste of what to expect. Tickets go on sale Friday for both venues. Considering the location, prices are comparable to the Strip, ranging from $45.00 to $73.50. But, legends don't come cheap.
