New Downtown Pizza Joints Still Working Towards Firing Up

We're still trying to determine how many is too many pizza joints in downtown Vegas, but no matter whether you're ready to push away from the table or order up another slice, three new parlors will be in place by summer's end.

On a stroll through Downtown Vegas late last week, we made a point to stop by the construction sites for all three venues. In Fremont East, Radio City Pizza (pictured above) has removed the brown paper from its windows and added two red-and-black signs.

A countdown on its website says RCP will open in three days. But, as VegasChatter fan and Twitter follower @BruceNV can attest, the countdown has been reset, reset again and reset yet again. We're going to assume another reset will take place since RCP was still looking for employees as recently as late last week.

In Downtown 3rd (where you'll find Mob Bar, Triple George Grill and Hogs & Heifers), Pizza Rock will eventually take over the old Celebrity Theater space, complete with a semi crashing through its roof. On a walk-by, a papered construction fence obscured most of the exterior, but we did manage to see that the interior has been gutted. A definitive date for its opening hasn't been announced, but there is a new clue. A PizzaRockLasVegas.com site has fired up and touts a debut of "late summer 2013." The parlor, which already has a location in Sacramento, is known for its gourmet pies and specialty cocktails.

Lastly, we didn't spy any noticeable work on Slice, a NYC import, which will be located on the ground floor of The Ogden, but it should still be on track for an opening summer's end as well.
