Comics taking over Las Vegas? Really? Maybe. Comic-Con International in San Diego has become one of the most popular conventions in the United States, but Las Vegas will have two comic conventions of its own this year.

The first convention happens this summer when The Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con comes to the South Point June 14-16. Details are sparse while they are putting the finishing touches on the gathering, but there will be a wide array of special guests from the comic world including:

Greg Capullo: Comic book artist on DC Comics BATMAN
Humberto Ramos: Comic book penciller, best known for his work on American comic books such as Impulse, The Spectacular Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man
Ryan Stegman: Artist for Marvel Comics’ Superior Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, SCARLET SPIDER, Amazing Spider-Man, SHE-HULKS, and X-23
Skottie Young: American comic book artist and writer from Chicago best known for his work with various Marvel Comics characters
Gerry Duggan: writer on Deadpool for Marvel Comics
Jessica Nigri: Cosplay Superstar
Mat Nastos: Best-selling SciFi author, TV/Film & fantasy writer/director; known best for bad horror movies about giant scorpions, killer pigs & dinosaurs in the sewers.

Sunday, June 16th will be Kid's Day at the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con. Mat Nastos, mentioned above and also a writer and artist from Disney’s #1 rated hit TV show Phineas & Ferb doing free sketches for children 10 and under.

Later this year, the Las Vegas Comic Expo will return, possibly sometime in September. The expo took place at Riviera last year, but the location hasn't been solidified just yet. Their Facebook page says that dates, times and location will happen in the next few days.

And, the Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival is set for November 2 inside and around the Clark County Library on 1401 E. Flamingo. Some 3,000 attended last year's event. Details are still in the works for 2013's gathering so keep up-to-date here.
