At Rio, Long-Delayed Zip Line Could Debut In Ten Days

We know, promises, promises. We hear that Naked Eyes song from way back, too. But, our friends over at the Vegas Rover Facebook page have it on good authority (read: a worker) that the much-delayed VooDoo Zip Line at Rio will open in just over a week.

Vegas Rover reports that the date circled for the attraction's grand opening is Friday, May 23. The ride, which aims to send the fearless soaring between the Rio's hotel towers and back again, was originally scheduled to open in August 2013. Unlike traditional ziplines, the Rio's requires guests fly while seated. The attraction is close to 500 feet above the ground and reaches speeds of around 30 miles per hour.

The VooDoo Zip Line's website lists hours as noon to midnight, Monday through Thursday; and 10 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall and under 300 pounds. Pricing has been removed from the site, but was once listed at $24.99 a person.

RIO ZIP LINE

It is open!  We just checked out of the Rio yesterday morning, and for several days it was going non-stop in testing, but finally had passengers starting Wednesday. The price was (I think) $27.99 for daytime and more for the evening.  It looks pretty cool (and scary).  People were riding it, it was neat to watch them fly by our windows from the Masquerade Tower.
