10 Snapshots Of Future Vegas

July 2, 2014 at 10:11 PM | by | ()

Can't wait for future Vegas to arrive? Sate your thirst for Vegas new-ness with ten shots of construction porn. All were snapped today as we travelled from Luxor to Sahara. Erm, SLS!

Delano Las Vegas (Debuting September 1)

Don't call it THEhotel, anymore. It's almost Delano now -- just check out the sign below! -- so we might as well get used to it. Officially making its Vegas debut September 1, some folks are already enjoying the new rooms. A rep tells us about 40 percent of the tower's accommodations have been remodeled so far. For more on what to expect from Delano, click here.

Harmon Hotel (Expected to be completely erased in 2015)

The demolition of the Harmon Hotel, never opened nor completed, continues. Construction errors halted the project several years ago. The building will now be torn down. What you may not realize, though, is that the building's north side has been untouched so far. Glass is only being removed on the south side right now.

TBA Nightclub at Caesars Palace (Opening early 2015)

Not much is known about the new nightspot that will fill the old PURE space in 2015. There's no announced theme or name. Whatever the plan, we can now see that it involves cutting into the rotunda next to the former nightclub's balcony.

PURE closed back in May. The folks behind Hakkasan at MGM Grand will open a new nightlife venue there sometime early next year.

Treasure Island's Addition (Opening September)

TI's retail-tainment center continues to take shape at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Spring Mountain. Still on track for a September debut, no mention has ever been made of future tenants aside from a long-touted CVS.

Resorts World (Coming 2015?... 2016?)

We're still waiting for construction to fire up at Resorts World (formerly Echelon). Once it restarts, phase one of the new mega-resort to come should debut a year or two after that. Read all we know, here.

SLS Las Vegas (Opening August 23)

We weren't able to capture a photograph of the redesigned porte cochere which seems to be fast-approaching completion, but we did manage to snap a shot of SLS' Strip-side beer garden, complete with lit chandeliers (but still sans furniture):

And, check out this video display wrapped in an oversized frame that's "leaning" up against the renovated resort at the corner of The Strip and Sahara. (Don't blame us for the palm tree placement.)

An even larger frame on the right is still waiting to be filled with media of some sort. Our friends at Vital Vegas discovered a third oversized frame on the resort's Paradise side (right click that hyperlink to view that one, too).

Walgreens (Coming early 2015)

Lastly, the iron steelwork for the Walgreens that will be located across from SLS is starting to go up. It will open early next year and is being built on the old Holy Cow site.

Archived Comments:

If all that retail space is opening in September, seems at least ONE tenant (other than CVS) should have been announced by now?!  Wonder if they're having trouble filling the space?  (Another recent thread here had a conversation about empty Strip retail space in the comments...)

Love new things coming to vegas

I was thinking the same thing.

Much more

  • The Linq Hotel
  • Grand Bazaar Shops at Bally's
  • Shops at Tropicana
  • The Rue de Monte Carlo

  • MGM -- AEG arena
  • Silver State Arena near
  • Downtown Las Vegas Arena

We know! These are just the projects we snapped yesterday. ;0

Grand Bazaar

Grand Bazaar will be completed soon at Bally's

That a Walgreens is going to exist on what was once sacred ground. It's enough to drive a good neopagan to drink, if there was anyplace that made decent beer in Vegas anymore. (No, Monte Carlo doesn't count.)
