Palms is Singing Mum Mum Mum Mah Poker Face
We need very little encouragement to have the p-p-poker face mum mum mum mah poker face lyrics to Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” stuck in our head and have a feeling it’s just gonna to get worse when The Palms Casino Resort unveils (or “unviel” according to the sloppy typo in the headline of the press release sent by Palms' PR department. Tsk tsk.) its new TV commercial featuring the Grammy nominated hit single, “Poker Face.”
We admit; we do love the collaboration of these two Las Vegas powerhouses, although we wonder how much mileage the Palms is going to squeak out of its exclusive rights to the hit single “Poker Face” for a TV commercial and online.

The Advertorials Are Getting Out of Hand on Top Chef

After an unexpected one week hiatus, Top Chef Las Vegas was back last night with a “Dinner Party” episode. The episode opened with Ash talking about how he didn’t go to culinary school and Michael dishing on the difficulties of being away from his young daughters, ages 5 and 9. (Insert sigh here.)
Jennifer wasn’t feeling well, but the thick-skinned gal was quick to note that she didn’t need any sympathy. (She also probably shouldn’t have been handling and serving food. Sick servers and people behind the line is one of our biggest restaurant pet peeves.)
The contestants assembled at M Resort where slot machine results defined three keywords that described mood, taste/texture and a type of cuisine. The chefs had to create a dish in less than 30 minutes that combined the three keywords in the Cookstr.com High Stakes Quickfire with guest judge, Tyler Florence, chef, author and television star. Keywords included words like romantic, tart, Latin America, umami, stressed, adventurous, Middle Eastern and Asian.

Las Vegas is The Only Place Where 'What Happens Here, Stays Here'
Visit Las Vegas has tried out a few different ads to woo visitors to Sin City during these rough economic times but what still resonates the best is the "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" catchphrase.
And now Las Vegas is bringing it back, although with a twist. The new ad shows folks around America (in mostly Midwestern settings) trying to apply the "What Happens Here, Stays Here" to other places and events. Like, "What Happens in Billups County, Stays in Billups County" (apparently pigs get awarded blue ribbons) or "What Happens at the Caribou Lodge, Stays at The Caribou Lodge" (the Caribou Lodge is like an Elks Lodge.)
There's also a nervous patient at the doctor's before he gets bent over for an "exam" and two chicks trying to find excitement at a bar in Lincoln (probably Lincoln, Nebraska.) Oh and don't forget the sad man on a bench.
The ad then concludes with the simple tagline "What Happens Here, Stays Here"--a gentle reminder to vacationers that there is no place as exciting as Las Vegas for your next vacation. They don't even need to show an actual shot of Vegas in this new commercial because the public at large already knows how crazy Vegas is. So c'mon, give up those staycation plans already! (That's what we imagine the LVCVA would have liked to add.) The new ads will hit your TV sets on Monday.

Luxor Now Completely Wrapped with Transformers Ad

It's not uncommon for Vegas hotels and casinos to drape themselves in ads for their latest in-house shows or performances but the Luxor's newest advertecture is a pyramid-wide wrap for the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen sequel.
Twitterer VegasBill, a great person to follow for constant updates from Sin City over the weekends, snapped this shot of the finished product which features Optimus Prime. As for why the Luxor was chosen for this monstrous ad in Vegas, we hear that the movie prominently features the Egyptian pyramids.
Previously, Criss Angel's was being advertised on the pyramid. We're guessing alien robots pay more than evil bunnies.

Even on the Golf Course You Can't Avoid the Billboards

Only in Vegas can you tee off at the Bali Hai Golf Club and be bombarded with billboards all the way down the fairway. However, according to Flickr member DanPerry.com, during a Yonex promotion at one hole if you used a Yonex driver and hit a long drive, you could keep the driver. One guy actually hit a billboard. Niiice.
The Bali Hai Golf Club is part of the Mandalay Bay and rates start at $169 for early morning tee times during the week and can go up to $325 for tee times from 8 to 1:30pm on the weekends.
