It's almost that time of year that tech geeks look forward to the most -- time once again for the AVN Awards and the Adult Entertainment Expo! Err.. we mean CES!
The Consumer Electronics Show will return to Vegas January 8-11, but it's that other convention that follows that makes us all giddy. And, our jaws drop. And, slightly embarrassed but still unable to look away. Yes, Pornuary is finally here!
If the most adult month of the year snuck up on you, don't
just break out your private stash despair. You can still purchase tickets to both the AVN Awards (it's the Oscars of the adult movie industry, people) at the Joint and the Adult Entertainment Expo, also at the Hard Rock.

We've yet to get inside the Adult Entertainment Expo, but -- even after pulling out from the Consumer Electronic Show -- it's probably safe to assume that the sh*t we saw at CES is nothing compared to what's on display at the Hard Rock right now.
We know what you're thinking...
why was Tim Tebow in Vegas on opening day how can you get in on that action, right? Fan fest tickets range from a fairly reasonable $80 to a big pimpin' $325. More interested in jumping on Saturday's awards show? Tickets are still available, but will strip you of $300 bones.
LA Weekly notes that for just $19.99, geeks who can't make it to Vegas for the actual porn convention on January 20, will be allowed to watch the entire conference using the "AEE Virtual Ticket" and "VirtualCast."
The VirtualCast will be streaming from 1pm on Friday January 20 until 1am Sunday morning and will include coverage of the exhibit space throughout the Hard Rock (the convention's new host), as well as after-Expo parties, the AVN Awards Show and the awards show after-party. Word is there will be seven cameras roaming through the Hard Rock to come up with this coverage.
We're not laughing at this pic. Honest.
So the dust has settled, the bedrooms have been vacated and the blow up dolls are being removed form the Convention Center – CES and the Adult Entertainment Expo are no more, and we’ll have to look elsewhere for hard partying geeks and fake boobs thrusting into our personal space.* Time for a post-coital analysis of how things went down.
The triumphs of CES focused mainly on the 3D revolution and other neat products like the Pop Box. The fallout? Slightly more amusing. One missing tooth, one broken “unbreakable” phone, and many people’s dignity.
And looks like the geekery, erm, rubbed off on the porn folk too, because they were all about 3-D, apps, and (seriously) sexbots. Wild Wendy? Frigid Farrah? For $9000? We may just have expunged them from our memory by the time next year rolls around.
Meanwhile, roaming the Strip we saw plenty of partied out techies but not as many slutty starlets as we were expecting. Could there be some correlation between those two facts?
* “Elsewhere” basically meaning the Hard Rock.

Look, geeks! This could be you and your new 3D, wireless cameras!
Of all the things going down in Vegas at the moment, you’d think the Adult Entertainment Expo would be the least likely to need to resort to discounting tickets or plying for business.
But no, in this recession, it seems people will even think twice about splashing out $80 on a ticket to a pornfest. So the AEE is offering $5 off entry (hur hur) to CES attendees. Because everyone knows that bad girls love geeky guys, right?
All you have to do is bring along your badge to onsite registration, and you can’t use this alongside any other discounts. Non-discounted rates are $80 per day or $220 for the full three days, plus a $3 processing fee whichever option you go to.
If you’re a female CES attendee and don’t fancy paying for a sausage fest, you could always hit up Rok Vegas at New York-New York tonight, where Ron Jeremy is hosting a party for Naughty America. With Ron looking in fine fettle, that should definitely be one for the girls*.
*VegasChatter cannot be held responsible for counseling fees incurred through the trauma of sharing a club with Ron Jeremy. Sorry 'bout that.

A dirty Kayden Kross. See what we did there?
Something tells us that the action in Vegas this weekend is going to be pretty full on – and not just because of the CES lot being in town. The Adult Entertainment Expo is, of course, also going down this week – and the people behind it are throwing a variety of bashes around town.
Tao is particularly hot for the pornies, with AVN parties on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday – the “official Adult Entertainment Expo Networking Party” - will be hosted by Sasha Grey, the convention’s keynote speaker. Friday it’s the turn of porn star Kayden Kross, and Saturday, Stormy Daniels (hurrah for a proper porn star name) is throwing an awards after party bash. Cover is $20 for Thursday and Saturday, $30 for men on Friday. Local ladies get in free every night.
Which to go for? Something tells us that the extra $10 for Kayden Kross will probably be worth it in terms of dirt - quite literally, going by her (we hope) muddy face in the promo pic. Although we're intrigued by the notion of porn industry networking. Let's make it a toss up between the two.
It's that time of the year again, when CES arrives in town! The Consumer Electronics Show begins on January 7 and lasts through Sunday. While many attendants will be on the lookout for tech trends to watch in 2010, no doubt a few of them will be distracted by the Adult Entertainment Expo which is also taking place this weekend.
Considering that the internet is keeping the porn business alive, it should make for a very celebratory weekend, we thinks.
Hard up to look at hard drives and porn stars but in need of a room? Unfortunately, your options are limited as rooms are nearly sold-out on the Strip. Here's what a cursory search on Expedia and some hotel websites yielded:
It may have been snowing in Vegas recently but it’s sure been a hot news week. First the Stripper Mobile coming out of retirement; now news from the Adult Entertainment Expo, which has just announced Sasha Grey as its keynote speaker (who knew a porn convention would have a keynote speaker? Not us).
For the unacquainted, 21-year-old Ms Grey is not your typical only-opens-her-mouth-to-moan-ecstatically porn star. She’s managed by Dave Navarro, and talks about the film-making prowess of Jean-Luc Godard. Steven Soderbergh cast her as the lead in his latest film The Girlfriend Experience and Rolling Stone called her “liberating for women”. She’ll probably be talking about feminism and girl power, as her speech is entitled We are women, hear us roar (at least, we’re hoping it’s a roar of feminism, not of.. you know).
Anyhoo. If you want to hear what she’s got to say (or see what she’s got to display) Sasha will be speaking on Friday 8 January at 1.30pm. Tickets for the Expo cost from $80 per day from here.

In a scheduling move that would make a brilliant reality show (we’re thinking a more hardcore Beauty and the Geek), the geeks and the pornstars will be hitting the Strip on January 7.
The same scheduling clash took place last year so obviously the powers that be deemed it worth a rerun.
Last year, the AEE revealed that the porn industry was facing
hard tough times, poor lambs, so we’re excited to know what the scoop is for 2010. If it’s still tough out there, maybe the geeks can wade in with some gadget advice. Yum.

This past January, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and the Adult Entertainment Expo (otherwise known as the Porn Convention), were scheduled at the same time at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Happy accident or inspired genius? After all, when it comes to titillating the techies in Las Vegas, the undercurrent is downright…well, sexy.
At eyecandy sound lounge & bar in the center of the Mandalay Bay casino floor, interactive touch tables allow users to create messages and project images above the dance floor, giving a “high-tech twist to the classic cocktail lounge."
The Beatles™ Revolution Lounge at The Mirage offers similar opportunities to woo and wow. VIP tables use infrared technology to allow guests to create art on their tabletop, which they can then project onto a central column in the lounge.
