In San Francisco? Fly to Vegas for Under $100

Two happy kids enjoy a Virgin America flight from SFO to LAS
Calling all San Franciscoers: if you want to come out to Vegas in the new year, Virgin America has some pretty sweet prices at the moment.
The current Fares to Fly By promo has seats from $39 (plus tax) each way, meaning a return journey costs a total of $99.20. You’ll need to book by 21st December and travel between 4 January - 10 February, or 5-23 May.
Looking through the website, we found a fair bit of availability on the first set of dates, in January and February, and a little less in May. Outside of those dates, the cheapest is $49 each way, but those were a lot harder to pin down. So if we were you, we’d come on over as a New Year treat.

Four Days Into the BA Flights, and They're Too Expensive For Us

A whole week since the British Airways launch party for its London-Vegas flights, and four days since the flights themselves started. And what has happened?
Well, according to BA’s CEO Willie Walsh (that’s him checking in at Heathrow T5 with Mayor Goodman and his showgirls), London-Vegas is BA’s best-performing new route "by far", with the inaugural flight on Sunday full.
So far, so good. Unfortunately, the inaugural was also 90 minutes late, due to a brake fluid leak, meaning that they missed being greeted by Holly Madison, who had to go and perform in Peepshow.
The next day, Willie Walsh was given the keys to the city, Mayor Goodman threw a special lunch for British press at the Bellagio, and the Brits were let loose on the Strip to start tweeting about $12 diet cokes at the Wynn and the Grand Canyon making them feel "uncomfortable" (no, we have no idea what she means about that either, unless it's an undiagnosed fear of heights coming through).

Less US Airways Flights Planned for McCarran

While there's been the recent arrival of British Airway into Las Vegas and a sweet $25 fare sale from Southwest for flights from Los Angeles, it's not all rosy at McCarran Airport..
US Airways announced that it would essentially halve its flights into and out of Sin City, even from the all-important Southern California market. The Las Vegas Sun reports:
By the end of December, the airline will end nonstop round trips between Las Vegas and Detroit; Minneapolis; Seattle; Sacramento and San Jose, Calif.; and the Canadian cities of Edmonton, Alberta; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Toronto.
At the end of January, flights between Las Vegas and San Diego will be cut.
And, at the end of February, service will end between Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Fla.; Orange County, Calif.; and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
Ugh, even worse, US Airways will also cut about 880 Las Vegas jobs too. Previously this year, they closed the US Airways lounge at McCarran which also saw 600 jobs vanish into thin air.
Well, fine then. We didn't want to pay your stinking $7 fee for pillows anyways. We'll happily fly Southwest, Virgin America, American or even Continental instead.

Flying to Vegas from LA Will Only Cost $25, Thanks to New Southwest Sale

If you live in the Los Angeles area, you're in luck as Southwest has just launched a sweet new sale with flights to Vegas starting at only $25. Our brother site, Jaunted had the news on the cheap fares this morning.
The sale starts today and ends at 11:59PST on October 29th and is good for travel between Dec. 2, 2009 and Dec. 16, 2009, or travel between Jan. 5, 2010, and Feb. 10, 2010. The prices are easy to remember as everything is increments of 25. Flights up to 375 miles start at $25 one-way. Between 375 and 549 miles, fares are $50 one-way. Between 550 and 999 miles, fares are $75 one-way. Flights longer than a 1,000 miles will be the more expensive of the group, starting at about $100 per ticket.
Indeed, the popular route of Los Angeles to Las Vegas was available mid-week for $25. And with hotel rooms already low during the week, especially in December, this might be the best time to see Sin City for less.

A Glimpse Into the Very Near Vegas Future: Brits On The Strip
Three signs of a good night: you wake up clutching a poker chip in one hand, Elvis Presley’s email address in the other, and your camera seems to have magicked up pictures of you with vodka luges and feather boas that you definitely don’t recall going anywhere near. This was our morning after the BA London-Vegas route launch party at Studio Valbonne in London last night.

Mayor Goodman was guest of honor along with his wife, Carolyn, his showgirls (six of them) and his Elvis impersonator. Two Cirque du Soleil folk were doing acrobatics around the room, Rain DJ Paul Oakenfold was on the decks, and everyone was in the party spirit – including the waitress who was so sozzled that she fell over as she was taking a picture of us with Elvis.

Mayor Goodman and His Girls Have Landed In London; Mel B Confirmed for the Party

The mayor has landed! Oscar Goodman and his showgirls arrived in London today in preparation for tomorrow’s party celebrating British Airways' direct London-Las Vegas flights which launch on Sunday. Good thing they put them in business class, what with those head-dresses.
And here’s Mayor Goodman looking pretty perky, considering he’s straight off a red-eye (we’re guessing from LA, unless they laid on a special Vegas flight for him. Which we wouldn’t completely disbelieve). The suits are (L-R) Rossi Ralenkotter, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, Mayor Goodman, and Richard Tams of British Airways. Loving that black cab – and hoping it was taking him to Buck House to meet the Queen…
In still more happy news, those nice bods at BA listened to our plea to get Mel B along to the bash – she confirmed this afternoon. That’s what we call customer service. Now if they could only abolish their ridiculous seat-booking charges, we’d love ‘em to bits. Any chance of you hearing us on that one, chaps?
Full party report, complete with Mayor Goodman, Peter Andre and the lovely Mel B, to come on Friday.

Paul Oakenfold, Oscar Goodman and, um, Peter Andre Ready for London's BA Launch Party

Just nine days to go until the launch of direct British Airways from London to Vegas and we got some word about the party. It’s taking place at Studio Valbonne in the West End next Thursday, and Rain DJ Paul Oakenfold will be on the decks (the night’s doubling as a launch party for his new album Perfecto Las Vegas).
Guests of honour will be Mayor Goodman and his showgirls, Jen and Porsche, and our sources say they may well be joined by former England captain Matt Dawson, his teammates and tabloid staple Peter Andre. Not sure what any of that crowd have to do with Vegas (the rugby tournament maybe?), but until recently Peter was married to Jordan and his last business venture was MCing a male stripper show, so he should be just fine.

Oscar Goodman Is Bringing His Showgirls To London To Christen BA's New Route

Have you heard of London's mayor Boris Johnson? He’s um, a buffoon character. Instead of neat politician hair, he has a woolly blond thatch, instead of saying bland politician things, he likes to weigh in with jokes that others sometimes take offence to, and instead of being a dull politician who nobody really cares about, Londoners either love him or hate him.
Boris likes to think he’s one of a kind, but he’s about to meet his match – Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman is crossing over the pond this month for the launch of British Airways’ direct London-Vegas flights on October 25.
Along with meeting Boris and, possibly, the Queen (he's working on that), he'll be guest of honour at an as yet top secret party.

JetBlue 'Cheep' Fares Offering $9 Flights from Burbank This Saturday

Last month, JetBlue introduced Cheep fares, a Twitter promotion that announces the cheapest flights for the weekend. The Cheeps come out on Twitter every Monday for the up coming Saturday and they're kind of awesome.
Today, JetBlue Cheeps announced a $9 flight to Las Vegas from Burbank, just outside of Los Angeles. We plugged in this Saturday in the JetBlue booking system and sure enough, a $9 flight showed up--at a reasonable departure time too of 1:44pm. Flights home were more expensive at $79, not including taxes and fees but still that's a flight to and from Vegas for under $100. (Unless you wanna come back on Sunday. That flight alone was $139.) The only catch is you must book today by 3pm PST.
Southwest, on the other hand, was advertising fares of $97 each way. So it's totally worth it to drive out to Burbank and hop on a JetBlue flight to Vegas. See you there?

British Airways to Fly Nonstop from Heathrow to Vegas

Representing the culmination of literally years of negotiations between Las Vegas tourism officials and British Airways, Las Vegas is finally getting nonstop service from Heathrow. Dare we say, “Bloody ‘ell…it’s about time!”
Hundreds of thousands of Vegas-crazy Brits are surely dancing in the streets right about now. In fact, the UK is the #3 provider of foreign tourists to Sin City, behind neighboring countries of Canada and Mexico. Thanks to this new service, we anticipate a precipitous rise in the number of hen-night and stag-party revelers stumbling along Las Vegas Boulevard – all with those charming accents of course – as a direct result of this development.

Virgin America Puts Vegas Flights On Sale

Virgin America may be new, but it’s pushing all the right buttons with its growing customer base. Fliers dig the groovy mood lighting, seat-to-seat chat technology, mini-bar service and in-flight entertainment system that includes TV, pay-per-view movies and more than 3,000 MP3s.
Lucky for you, it’s having a fare sale through April 20, which means cheap flights to Vegas from the four nonstop markets it serves (San Fran, Seattle, New York and DC).
