A Cure For Your Monday Morning Vegas Withdrawal: More News About Vegas

June 1, 2015 at 1:05 PM | by | ()

Mondays. Case of them. We got 'em. And we're sure you do too. But hold on tight to your morning squeeze coffee. Here's a bunch of newsy tidbits that are bound to perk you back up. Wink, wink.

Bally's Has a New Restaurant With Odd Hours: Tequila Taqueria, the newest pizza and beer joint from "restauranteur" Robert Earl of Earl Sandwiches is now officially open at Bally's. Christening the first slice and pour is everyone's favorite Italian actor, Mario Lopez. Er, whoops. Wait, this is a Mexican eatery serving premium tequila, 10 different Mexican beers, and dishes such as tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, tortas and guacamole (made tableside.) Sorry, the name had us confused about what sort of cuisine was on the menu. Anyhoo, the joint is now open Sunday-Thursday from 3pm to 5pm and then again from 10pm to 12am. Which are odd hours but hopefully those will get extended to real times when people want to eat tacos. noon to 6am.

Updating Some Poker Rooms Around Town

January 15, 2015 at 3:16 PM | by | ()

The Silverton poker room.

An empty poker room, a soon to be closing poker room, and an electronic poker room highlight this look at what's currently going on in the Las Vegas poker landscape. Shuffle up and deal!

The poker situation at Silverton has pretty much been in limbo for the past two years. The off-Strip property's room closed back in early 2012 only to pop back up near the end of 2012 as part of Cantor Gaming's new sports book. Word was the cards would start flying once the sports book opened, but that day came and went and the poker room has yet to see any action. A recent visit to Silverton confirmed that, yes, the five-table poker room is still there in all of its painfully bright red glory, but it still is not open for business.

Re:lax, Aliante's New Spa Is Quite Nice

Large it's not, but unexpected it is.

Aliante's new spa, Re:lax, may not be a destination (ok, it's definitely not a destination), but it shouldn't be discounted, either. A weekend tour had this writer trading ho hum expectations for pleasantly surprised sentiments.

While small in size, it was apparent that care was taken with the spa's overall feel. Culled from a portion of the hotel tower, it doesn't seem as if you're in a space that used to be part of a hotel tower. A feeling that this writer has, unfortunately, experienced in other Vegas spas where the aesthetic is so cheap poor that it's hard to get past it.

Aliante Wants You To Re:lax

Where: 7300 N. Aliante Pkwy. [map], 89084
August 13, 2013 at 7:16 PM | by | ()

In January, the way, way off Strip Aliante Hotel and Casino shared with us the strong possibility that a spa was on the way. Now, eight months later, it's official. Guests will be able to Re:lax at Aliante this fall.

The full-service spa will offer all the rejuvenating treatments that some of us know well and enjoy often. Services will range from massages and facials to nail care and couples treatments. There will also be a steam room and sauna, too.

Look to Re:lax at Aliante beginning mid-October. It will be located on the second floor and will be open to guests and non-guests alike.

November 15, 2012 at 2:04 PM | by | ()

November brought a new name and new life to Aliante when it cut ties with Station Casinos.

As previously detailed, the separation brought a few changes to the casino including a new bingo hall, new restaurants and a new players club. The Aliante Casino website says that the players club would be online this month. Well, it's November 15 and the site isn't up-to-date yet. We're told that the site will be up and running before the month is over, though.

Aliante Station To Be Just Aliante

Where: 7300 North Aliante Parkway [map], 89084
October 30, 2012 at 3:49 PM | by | ()

We've always called it Aliante, anyway, but starting November 1 it will be official. That's when Aliante Station will be officially cut from the Station Casinos family.

The off, off Strip property got its Boarding Pass in 2008 when it opened in North Las Vegas but, last November, Aliante Gaming became its new owners. Station Casinos has still been running the joint, though. But, starting Thursday, Aliante Gaming will take off the training wheels and take over completely.
