Anthony Cools is a Man of Impeccable Taste, As Proven By This Photo

Wonder if she'll be at his show tonight?

A totally gratuitous Freaky Friday this week, although we’d contest that no mention of the delicious Mel B is gratuitous.

Anyhoo. We knew Holly Madison was a woman of good taste, seeing as she revealed a couple of weeks ago that she’s friends with Scary Spice, but we didn’t have Anthony Cools marked down as the same (must have been those weird highlights wot prejudiced us against him).

But according to his Twitter, he’s well tasteful, because he was living it up with Mel last night at Tao. Cools, not only are you a lucky bastard but Mel suits you, because you’re looking pretty fly in that pic. And Mel, as ever, looks smoking. Next time give us a call, yeah?

The New Anthony Cools is Looking Dapper

We may not be the biggest fans of Anthony Cools since the whole free show scam he was running down at O’Sheas, but hey, credit where credit’s due – man looks good in his new photos.

His old promo shot was actually on our list of top five over-photoshopped hideosities (we’ll give you the others another time). Just look at it.

Coupons, Yes, But A Box Office That's Still Charging $53: Why That Doesn't Make Mental A Free Show

The saga continues...

OK-so. After we pointed out yesterday that Mental is not a free show, as the people behind it have been saying, Anthony Cools tweeted us to say that in order to get your free ticket, there are two sexy school girls standing at the entrance to O’Sheas, handing out coupons to everyone who walks in between 6-8pm, when the show starts.

Obviously, we had to go check this out. We swung by at 7pm to find a girl dressed like an extra in Dr Zhivago handing out coupons for Matsuri (free buffet if you buy a VIP ticket, wotevs) and Vinnie Favorito (2-for-1). No sign of schoolgirls, sexy or otherwise.

Mental's Newest 'Trick' is to Mislead You About Free Show Tix

File this under "Nothing, we repeat nothing, is free in Vegas."

UPDATE 3pm: Anthony Cools has twittered us saying that there are two schoolgirls at the door of the casino handing out coupons to everyone who walks in. Anyone seen this? Let us know. Still doesn't make it a free show though

If there’s one thing we hate, hate, hate, it’s when the good guys let us down. So this morning we’re fuming in two directions - at O’Sheas, and at hypnotist Anthony Cools.

We’ve always been fans of both. We’ve shown love to O’Sheas despite having once had someone vomit over our seat when we made a quick bathroom trip. We also think Anthony Cools’ show is v funny, and he has a talent for bringing other shows to the Strip that we have also loved, like Mental and our much-lamented Freaks.

No More High-Flying Folk Inside Studio 54?

March 5, 2010 at 6:48 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Hoping to hit on some acrobats while you guzzle down your vodka redbulls? Sadly, there's one less place to do that in Vegas.

The other week magician Anthony Cools tweeted that the entertainment at the Studio 54 nightclub at MGM Grand would no longer be doing aerial stuff. He lamented:

Studio 54 not doing anymore airial [sic] stuff, only thing that set them apart from the newer hotter clubs... out with the old, in with the new...

We agree. Studio 54 is a little bit tired these days. We wouldn't go so far as to say that aerial acts would give the club a competitive edge but it does need some life. Just being the reincarnation of the New York Club isn't going to cut it anymore.

What do you think of Studio 54--Hot or Not? Let us know in comments below.

An Open Letter to Anthony Cools

Dear Anthony Cools,

First things first: we like you. You’re clearly a good hypnotist. Your show at Paris is funny. Having spoken to you (you won’t remember), we reckon you’re pretty personable. And your Twitter obsession with Norm Clarke is something that sings to our hearts.

Which is precisely why we’re so disappointed in you by your new clothing line. Sorry, Anthony Cools Apparel. You have four ‘designs’; we are fans of none.

Amazing Johnathan Wins Award Then Spoils It By Defending Criss Angel

December 2, 2009 at 4:52 PM | by juliab | 1 Comment

Vegas people are on an award-winning roll at the moment. If it’s not Donny Osmond winning Dancing with the Stars, it’s The Amazing Johnathan snaffling the prize for best comedy magic at the 2009 World Magic Awards last Wednesday.

Well done AJ! Unfortunately, he’s spoiled it all by writing on his website that Criss Angel’s Believe is “awesome”, “beautiful”, that “Criss is great in it” and that “if you don’t think it’s one of the greatest magic shows ever produced you are nuts.” Hmm.

In all of our interests, we’re not going to help you with booking Believe, but if you want to see The Amazing Johnathan, he’s on at the Harmon Theatre in the Miracle Mile, Tuesday to Saturday at 9pm, and tickets start at $59.95 plus tax.

In other magic news, Lance Burton will be off for a holiday December 13-25, reopening on Boxing Day. And Anthony Cools gets our own “comedy magic” award with his tweet the other day: “Fun show tonight, Glenda enjoyed her orgasm.” Incorrigible.

Ignore The Freaks On the Strip; See These Ones Instead

Where: 3555 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89109
November 4, 2009 at 1:16 PM | by juliab | 0 Comments

First things first, there are a lot of freaks in Vegas. You will probably see them walking from your room to the buffet, from the buffet to the casino, from the casino to the club, and definitely, definitely on the Strip.

So why, you ask, would one pay to see a show called Freaks when one can enjoy the glorious walkway of them that is Las Vegas Boulevard? Because the self-defined freaks who perform every night upstairs at O’Sheas are, actually, amazing.

Another brainchild of Paris hypnotist Anthony Cools along with Luke Jermay’s show, which precedes them in the theatre above O’Sheas, Freaks is the kind of sideshow that you’d assume exists in Vegas, but actually is normally drowned out by the boozing and the gambling and the nekked ladies.

Want To See Talking Naughty Bits? Try The Anthony Cools Experience

Where: 3655 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89109
August 6, 2009 at 2:52 PM | by londontown | 0 Comments

Watching people hump chairs wasn’t top of our to do list when we arrived in Vegas last week, but we like to think of ourselves as go with the flow types, so when we were invited to Anthony Cools’ hypnotist show at Paris, we said "yes" straightaway.

Cools has been in Vegas for about four years and two weeks ago, they signed him up for another four. To celebrate, he’s introduced a four minute, welcome-to-Vegas-style 3D film at the start of the show, which actually, we could have done without – it’s amusing enough, but it won’t have you rolling in the aisles (unless you’re drunk, in which case you’ll love the 3D boobs which make an appearance around the three minute mark).
