Almost Time For College Football Season

The NFL usually has all the limelight when it comes to football in Las Vegas. But, a few times a year, its little cousin, college football, steps out from behind the shadows.
College football will take center stage in Vegas when the Golden Nugget releases point spreads for what they consider the biggest games of the season. Golden Nugget has been the first casino sportsbook to release point spreads on college football for seven years in a row now and that tradition continues when they open up betting on Friday, June 7.

Bowl Season Is Upon Us

The college football regular season ended this weekend with a fantastic SEC championship game between the University of Alabama and University of Georgia. The winner, Alabama, now plays Notre Dame to be the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) national champion of the college football world. That big game isn't until January 7 but, in the meantime, we have a slew of college football bowl games to watch and wager on.
The bowl schedule kicks off Saturday, December 15 when the University of Nevada (Reno) Wolf Pack take on the Arizona Wildcats in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. Before The Season Kicks Off, Brush Up On Football Betting Basics

Football season begins at the end of this month with the kickoff to the college football season. The NFL begins shortly after when the Dallas Cowboys play the New York Giants on Wednesday, September 5. Before the chaos of the season begins, we wanted to go over some of the basic ways to bet on football so everyone can enjoy the games.
Before going over the bets, it's important to know how the casino makes its money. Casinos charge a 10% fee on most wagers. If you want to sound fancy this is called "The Vig." This means that if you want to win $100, you'll have to wager $110. Do the math up or down depending on how much you plan on betting if even numbers matter to you.

College Football Game Spreads Today at Golden Nugget

Even though its season starts before the NFL season, spreads for college football games aren't available first. NFL spreads were first released by Cantor Gaming just over a month ago and are now available at other sportsbooks including LVH.
College football gets their turn to shine today. In an annual rite of football passage, the Golden Nugget will release spreads to what they consider the top 111 college football games of the year today at 10 a.m. PST.
Expect the Nugget sportsbook to be packed with professional bettors looking to take advantage of the spreads they feel are off. The largest bet taken is $500 on any game and spreads will be adjusted each time that limit is bet.

Farmageddon: When Cornhuskers and Hawkeyes Collide
All Midwest eyes will be smiling when Cornhuskers and Hawkeyes collide this November 25. The football rivalry between Nebraska and Iowa, named the Heroes Game (yawn), locks out tens of thousands of fans each year who can't get tickets. But those fans don't just toss in their overalls. No, they gas up the tractors and head to Vegas for Viva Las Farmageddon.
The football game itself will be a memory by dinner time Friday afternoon but the Vegas party keeps farming all weekend. Hosted at TI, Farmageddon casts aside all the corny Midwest jokes to focus on football packages for students, alumni, rich, and poor alike.

NFL Spreads Are Ready, But Is The NFL?

Last week was the beginning of football season for many of us who like betting on the games. On Friday at noon, Golden Nugget released the first college football spreads for bettors. In what's become a ritual, there were lots of people in on the action. With a little less fanfare, Cantor Gaming released point spreads, also on Friday, on every NFL game on the schedule for next season. Of course, this is assuming that the owners lockout ends and there's a full season of 256 games.
The main difference with Cantor Gaming releasing spreads for NFL games is that they're available for wagering in each of their four sportsbooks at The Cosmopolitan, Hard Rock, M Resort and Tropicana. While Cantor Gaming has released their spreads early in the past, this is the earliest yet. For marketing punch, they might have been wiser to wait a week until the NBA and NHL playoffs were complete, but what do we know?
Like we mentioned last week, we don't tend to place many long-term future wagers since we: a) don't like to have out money tied up, and b) we don't risk enough to make moves this early like the professional gamblers. However, if you're ok with placing early wagers then there are wagers ready to be taken on NFL games at the Cantor Gaming sportsbooks and at the Golden Nugget sportsbook if you prefer college football.

College Football Is Ready...Are You?

It's become tradition for the Golden Nugget to be the first sportsbook to release college football spreads and that happens to be today at noon PST. This has become a strange sports betting "event" that we didn't realize was much of a deal until recently. Last year, the Golden Nugget had lines out the door and took wagers for over $100,000 dollars. We're not much for Black Friday Christmas sales and we feel no differently about today. However, we're not everyone.
If you fancy yourself as a pro or someone that is sharp on sports betting, the early lines can prove profitable since nobody has had a chance to manipulate the lines - yet. Also, since the Nugget only allows three bets per person with a maximum of $1,000 per wager, you're likely not going to see any major swings in the point spreads.
