Shock To The Heart: Bon Jovi Tickets Are Pricey

March 5, 2010 at 7:37 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Bon Jovi is making their way around the U.S. once again and the boys are stopping in Vegas tomorrow night at the MGM Grand's Garden Arena. Remember people, before Snooki, The Situation, Ronnie, Sammie, Pauly D, JWoww and Vinny, there was Bon Jovi, the original Jersey Shore kids.

Tickets are still available through TicketMaster but they are jacked up! We searched for a ticket with best available seating and there was only a floor seating ticket for $225. Not including taxes.

Room rates at the MGM aren't looking good either. We saw a Grand Tower room open tomorrow night for $214. Looks like you should just play The Slipper When Wet album on vinyl instead. Or visit a karaoke bar if you need to hear their songs "live."

Palms is Singing Mum Mum Mum Mah Poker Face

Where: 4321 West Flamingo Road [map], 89103
December 8, 2009 at 6:58 PM | by globetrotting gourmet | 0 Comments

We need very little encouragement to have the p-p-poker face mum mum mum mah poker face lyrics to Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” stuck in our head and have a feeling it’s just gonna to get worse when The Palms Casino Resort unveils (or “unviel” according to the sloppy typo in the headline of the press release sent by Palms' PR department. Tsk tsk.) its new TV commercial featuring the Grammy nominated hit single, “Poker Face.”

We admit; we do love the collaboration of these two Las Vegas powerhouses, although we wonder how much mileage the Palms is going to squeak out of its exclusive rights to the hit single “Poker Face” for a TV commercial and online.

VegasChatter Loves The 90s: 5 Acts We Want to See in Vegas

October 30, 2009 at 5:46 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

With Vanilla Ice performing tonight at Studio 54 at MGM Grand, our hypothesis that The 90s Are Back has pretty much been proven, whether you like it or not. Yet, we've only been able to get excited about a handful of these blasts from the pasts. Vanilla Ice, Offspring, LIVE and Spin Doctors do not get us excited to hit up the clubs and party.

So pay close attention Vegas club promoters and entertainment directors. We've put together a list of Five 90s Acts That We WANT to See in Vegas in the upcoming months.

Our criteria was simple: they had to have been hot in the 90s and they had to have faded out of the public eye for a while. For example, New Edition with Bobby Brown doesn't count. Neither does anyone on Dancing with The Stars. Got your own suggestions for 90s acts that you wanna see in Vegas? Put 'em in comments below.

As Predicted, Garth Brooks Sells Out The Encore

Where: 3131 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89109
October 26, 2009 at 12:03 PM | by juliana | 1 Comment

If you weren't up at 8am on Saturday to buy your tickets to Garth Brooks for his first five weekend shows at Encore, then you probably didn't get squat. Wynn Las Vegas said the shows were sold out by 1pm. Is it too soon to call Garth the savior of Vegas? Probably, yeah but if he can replicate these numbers for every weekend show, then we may change our position. The LV Sun writes:

During the course of the day, Wynn Las Vegas’ box office Web site received more than 5.4 million page views. The resort took more that 140,000 calls for tickets and had 40,000 people waiting for tickets in the online queue at any given moment.

Your only hope of getting tickets for this first batch of shows--Dec. 11-13, Jan. 1-3 and 22-24, Feb. 12-14 and 26-28--is picking up returned or unclaimed tickets. The price will still stand at $125. Or you could hit up eBay for two tickets at $460 on January 23. Hmmm...yeah, we're gonna pass on that offer.

UPDATE: Word on The Strip is that Wynncore may void tix that were bought for over $143 (the total ticket price after taxes.)

Got Nothing Better To Do? LeAnn Rimes Does Treasure Island Theater

Where: 3300 Las Vegas Blvd South [map], 89109
October 21, 2009 at 8:23 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Keep a close eye on your significant other, because everybody's favorite homewrecker, LeeAnn Rimes takes to the stage at Treasure Island Theater for a limited engagement starting tomorrow night. (We're kidding about your significant other...kinda.)

Best noted for her 1996 debut single, "Blue" the country crooner (and Lifetime Movie "Northern Lights" actress) was the youngest singer in the history of the Country Music Association to receive a nomination for the Horizon award at the age of 13. Nowadays, her on-screen action and real life affair with Lifetime Movie co-star Eddie Cibrian seems to be stealing the spotlight, as Rimes announced plans last month her plans to part with hubby Dean Sheremet. Tabloid drama aside, if country is your thang, the Grammy winning artist sure can belt 'em out.

Tickets start at $69 but TI is offering a special deal to bring your friend for only $25. Call (866) 712-9308 for details or go online to book.

How to Get U2 Tickets For This Friday

Where: 7000 East Russell Road [map], 89122
October 20, 2009 at 4:13 PM | by juliab | 0 Comments

Now we know when you go to Vegas, you do things you wouldn’t normally do. We understand that. And we don’t judge that.

Which is why we understand you might, in Vegas, decide you want to go to the U2 concert taking place on Friday. No need to be ashamed – it’s Vegas! Last time we were there, we saw Rod Stewart, so it’s not like we can talk. And the Black Eyed Peas are opening for them anyway, which makes it better.

Anyhoo, the gig’s at the Sam Boyd Stadium – about 10 miles east of the Strip, which should cost you about $25 and up in a cab (but save you the embarrassment of being caught entering a U2 concert by other bystanders).

Justin Timberlake is in Town, But Will Jessica Biel Be?

October 16, 2009 at 3:04 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

If you weren't keeping up with the Vegas stalker twitterati (Norm, Robin, et. al) Justin Timberlake has been in town all this week hosting the annual Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin.

JT played in the Celebrity Pro-Am on Wednesday with golf pro Anthony Kim and he will present the trophy to the winner of the real tournament on Sunday. But before that, he'll be doing what he does best--bringing sexy back at the Mandalay Bay tomorrow at 8:30pm.

But it won't be a solo show. Snoop Dogg, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Ciara, what's left of TLC and Jay Sean will perform alongside him. Even better, JT is donating proceeds from the show to the Shriners Hospitals for Children organization. With ticket prices starting at $250, we sure hope he can reach his goal of $1 million.

Steve Wynn Has 'Friends in Low Places': Garth Brooks Set to Perform in January 2010

October 14, 2009 at 12:14 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

According to Robin Leach's Twitter, Garth Brooks will be coming out of semi-retirement to do 16 weeks of shows, starting in January 2010 at the Danny Gans Theater at Encore.

There have been rumors circulating for a while that the country crooner would take up Steve Wynn on his offer but it looks like Garth will confirm it himself tomorrow at noon.

Whatever your feelings on country music (we happen to like it), Garth Brooks will be a great addition to the Strip. He's not too ancient, he's not too cheesy (yeah, Barry we're talking to you) and he's not the kind of performer that we have to do a post about with the title, Who Is?. He's also the kind of act that men and women can both comfortably attend together. We love Cher and Bette but they can be a hard sell for straight men.

Lastly, we're guessing Garth will command a high ticket price. Maybe nothing like Beyonce but something akin to the folks who play at Caesars Palace. Robin Leach even expects the shows to sell-out quickly. In this case, we hope "one of god's greatest gifts is" our answered prayers for Garth tickets.

Cheesy But Tough Choices: Will It Be Mariah or Mario Tonight?

October 9, 2009 at 7:33 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

TGIF! Here are this weekend's dubious celebrity appearances that are scheduled to take place on and off The Strip. Since the LV Sun is again reporting the Vegas guest gauge at "Nearly Empty" (on a holiday weekend no less!), finding hotel rooms so you can catch all these, er, wonderful acts below shouldn't be too hard.

· Jamie Foxx performs tonight at Caesars Palace. We're assuming it's music.
· Mariah Carey returns to The Palms for concerts on Friday and Saturday while her husband, Nick Cannon will DJ at The Bank at Bellagio on Saturday.
· Ray Romano and Brad Garrett will do some sort of routine at The Mirage both nights.
· Kenny Rogers will break it down on Sunday night at Buffalo Bill's resort and casino.
· Dionne Warwick will perform (not predict the future) at the Cannery Casino and Hotel on Saturday.
· Mario Lopez turns 36 at The Bank at Bellagio tonight (Man, he's almost old!)

Glitz and Haute Couture with a Splash of Paris Hilton Collide at Kylie Minogue's Concert

Where: 4321 W. Flamingo Rd. [map], 89103
October 5, 2009 at 3:28 PM | by globetrotting gourmet | 0 Comments

Aussie superstar Kylie Minogue opened her first U.S. Tour, ‘For You For Me’ last week, playing to a sold out crowd at the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

To be honest, like most of heterosexual Americans, we didn’t know much about the songstress’ music – just the major hits like "The Loco-Motion" and her 2002 hit, "Can’t Get You Out of My Head," but were completely blown away by Minogue’s hang-onto-your-seat production.

Kylie Minogue Brings Her 'Vegas Extravaganza' Home Tomorrow

October 2, 2009 at 1:35 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Once again, big music acts are set to invade Las Vegas this weekend and the most anticipated star is definitely Kylie Minogue who is performing tomorrow night at The Palms Pearl Theater in her first ever North American tour. The SF Chronicle caught Kylie's show on Wednesday night in Oakland and had this to say about it:

It's impossible to describe the full spectacle of the Kylie experience - part Vegas extravaganza, part sci-fi adventure, all flesh. There were golden tigers, confetti showers, diamante-studded football players, digital explosions and Trojan warriors with elaborate plumes on their heads. Well, why not?

In other words, this is going to be THE concert in Vegas this weekend. And we full expect the Fruit Loop to be in attendance. Also, rooms are holding steady at The Palms at $199 a night.

If you can't score Kylie tickets but you still want some flash, pizzaz, sequins, glitter and plastic surgery, Cher returns to Caesars Palace this weekend on Saturday as well.

For non-diva acts, Randy Travis is playing tonight at Texas Station Gambling Hall and Hotel, Jay Leno is back at the Mirage for standup comedy this weekend and Howie Mandel kicks off a stint at the MGM Grand.

But we think the only concert giving Kylie a run for her fabulous money is the Journey with Night Ranger concert at the M Resort. Tickets range from $49.25 to $264.50.

For more information on who's playing in town this weekend, go to VisitLasVegas.com for their entertainment listings.
