Tweet of the Weekend: Ticketmaster, Scourge of Vegas
Many people got trashed in Vegas this weekend, and lots of them told the world about it. So, every Monday we’re bringing you our favourite tweet of the weekend. And don’t forget to follow us at @vegaschatter.
Usually we concentrate on drunken antics for our Tweets of the Weekend, but yesterday someone tweeted about something we feel very strongly about: show booking fees. Specifically, Ticketmaster booking fees.
We get that ticket agents can’t live on air and all, but it’s getting ridiculous. We’ve seen $40 tickets rise to $55, $35 to $50, and now @jayfenster has summarized the situation thus:

Billy Idol? Cyndi Lauper? Must Be Retro Weekend in Vegas
Forget the clubs this weekend; it’s all about going retro. Or rather, it is tomorrow night, with Billy Idol playing the Pearl and Cyndi Lauper at House of Blues. Who could want anything else?
Oh, you might want Coolio at Revolution tonight. The 90s are back!

However You Want It, Ludacris Will Give It To You at the Palms Pool

"And if you like in the club we can do it in the DJ booth or in the back of the V.I.P." A love song from Ludacris
As if the pool at The Palms needed another reason to get sexed up but here it is anyways--rapper Ludacris, who recently filmed a music video at the casino, will be performing a full-on concert on August 5.
Tickets are available on sale at the evil Ticketmaster for a reasonable price of $30.00. Then the inconvenient "convenience" fee of $10.15 is added for a grand total of $40.15. Not so bad for a top rapper in an intimate setting.
Wanna keep the cheesy sex party going? Book The Palms new Fire & Ice package, sponsored by Trojan condoms.

You'll Need a Hussong's Margarita to Cope With the Queues at Mandalay Bay
The line 30 minutes in
A word of advice if you’re thinking of taking up Hussong's Cantina on their Grub for Stub offer: leave plenty of time to do it.
We popped to Hussong’s for a quick margarita before the Rihanna concert at Mandalay Bay on Saturday. Nicely loaded, we headed over to the gig at 7.45 (the concert was due to start at 7.30), only to find the Will Call queue about twice the size of the Caesars check in line at 6pm on a Friday.
The upshot? We queued for a good 45 minutes, missed Ke$ha, who was opening, and finally took to our seats to find the place less than half empty – the other half of the audience being in the queue to pick up their tickets still. What a fun Saturday night!

'Grub for Stub' at Hussong's Cantina Before the Concerts

We've already told you where the best pre-show dinners are as well as what are this summer's hottest concerts but now there's an option for you to gnosh before you mosh at Hussong's Cantina. Or as they're calling it--Grub for Stub.
The restaurant is inviting concert goers with tickets to shows at Mandalay Bay or Mandalay Beach to show up early, park in valet at The Shoppes at Mandalay Bay and head into Hussong's with their ticket stubs. Upon showing the waiter their concert tickets, diners will get a complimentary appetizer with the purchase of an entree.

These Ladies Will Not Be Working The Pole Tonight

We find the Lilith Fair concert tonight at Mandalay Bay Beach to be both refreshing and perplexing. On the one hand, we're all like: Finally! Some positive female role models, not to mention some extremely talented women, are coming into town sans clear heels, fist-pumping and napkins-turned-barely there dresses.
On the other hand we're like: Lilith Fair? In Vegas? But what will they do here? And why do we suddenly feel like wearing black, donning Doc Martins and lighting a candle?
Still, if you've always wanted to see Elizaveta, Sarah McLachlan, Miranda Lambert, Susan Justice, Queen Latifah, The Bangles, A Fine Frenzy and Emmylou Harris all perform in one night, now's your chance. Tickets range from $50-$150 but hurry and buy now! The show starts in three and a half hours.

From Justin Bieber to the Pixies: The Top Five Gigs of the Summer
We advise you to steer clear of PH on July 24. Maybe steer clear of the Strip to be on the safe side.
What with getting all excited yesterday to learn that Bob Dylan and Lady Gaga tickets were still available, we’re feeling in the mood for a concert here at VegasChatter. We just hit up Ticketmaster to see that there are still Dylan tickets going, even the cheap seats (that must be a blow), but here are the five gigs everyone will be talking about this summer.

Bob Dylan Tickets Are Still Blowing in the Wind

Bob Dylan, 1984
Last week, the folks at Caesars Palace were all excited about their big summer concert on August 18 at The Colosseum featuring Bob Dylan and John Cougar Mellencamp. Tickets went on sale on Saturday but as of last night, there were still plenty of tix available.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga aka The Fame Monster has nearly sold-out her show on August 13 at the MGM Grand Arena (We found two tickets today for $183, before taxes and fees.) The times have already done changed, Bobby boy.
Still for the hardcore Dylan and Cougar Mellencamp fans, tickets can be yours ranging from $59.50 all the way up to $150. You can purchase in person at the The Colosseum at Caesars Palace box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 800.745.3000. Just don't forget about the pesky "applicable taxes and fees" which will bump up that total price quite a bit.

The Other Side of Memorial Day Weekend: Comedy and Fights (Not Comedy Fights)
And for those people who aren’t interested in grubbing up a pool party or grinding in a club, we ask, what the hell are you doing in Vegas this weekend? And then we provide you with other things to do. Something for everyone here.

Voodoo Beach Lines Up Rockers for Summer Concert Series
Expect things to be a little more rocking than this
While we wait for the tribute shows to show up at the Crown Theater at Rio Las Vegas, we do have the new summer concert series at Voodoo Beach to look forward to. The poolside concerts will be held on Thursdays from May through September.
Kicking it off on May 27 will be the rock band, Filter. Later in the summer, Hoobastank is expected to rock on July 8 while Crash Kings and Vertical Horizon will play August 19. More opening acts will be determined by radio station Area 108's battle of the bands style Big Break competition. And as you can gather, most of the bands here are rock bands. If you want some Top 40, you should head to Tao. In the mood for 80s rockers? Head to The Palms. Want Justin Bieber? Then scurry down to the Bahamas.
All shows will begin at 6pm and entrance if FREE with tickets printed from www.1079thealternative.com. But you have to be 21 or older to attend so don't bring your kid brother.

Shock To The Heart: Bon Jovi Tickets Are Pricey

Bon Jovi is making their way around the U.S. once again and the boys are stopping in Vegas tomorrow night at the MGM Grand's Garden Arena. Remember people, before Snooki, The Situation, Ronnie, Sammie, Pauly D, JWoww and Vinny, there was Bon Jovi, the original Jersey Shore kids.
Tickets are still available through TicketMaster but they are jacked up! We searched for a ticket with best available seating and there was only a floor seating ticket for $225. Not including taxes.
Room rates at the MGM aren't looking good either. We saw a Grand Tower room open tomorrow night for $214. Looks like you should just play The Slipper When Wet album on vinyl instead. Or visit a karaoke bar if you need to hear their songs "live."

Fact: Music stars like to record their music at the recording studio at The Palms (Um, we'll overlook that little incident with Ali Lohan tho.) Jay-Z is set to play on March 27 with Trey Sonz and Young Jeezy. Tickets start at $159. Go here to book.
