Hmm...Donny Osmond, Veteran Performer and Dancer, Wins 'Dancing with The Stars'
Donny working the crowd at The Flamingo.
Don't get us wrong. We looove Donny Osmond. He is one sexy grandfather and we're thinking about converting to Mormonism if it means looking as good as he does when we are 75 52.
But having just won "Dancing with The Stars" Season 9 last night, we can't help but wonder if that's a fair pick for a winner. After all, this is DONNY OSMOND. He's been performing--dancing and singing--since he was in diapers. He's STILL performing today at The Flamingo with his sister, Marie.
Don't you think he has far too much of an advantage here? Oh well, guess the producers of DWTS should have considered this before they put him on the show.
Now, we are just curious how dates for the Donny and Marie show will be affected when Donny goes on the DWTS tour. The duo renewed their contract at The Flamingo through October 2010. We assume it's show business as usual but we at least expect one DWTS-dedicated number during his show now.
Tickets start at $90 for balcony seats and range up to $255 for a VIP experience which includes front-of-stage seating and an after-show photo with the stars.

Planet Hollywood Doesn't See Nothing Wrong With a Little Bump and Grind

That's right. In case you were wondering whatever happened to R. Kelly after the whole golden shower with a minor incident, we're happy to let you know that the Bump n' Grind singer will be making some noise tonight with the ladies at Planet Hollywood. The concert stop is a part of his Ladies Make Some Noise Tour. Tickets, of course, are still available starting at $50.25 a piece. Dammit. Now we can't get "It's the remix to ignition" out of minds.

Is Susan Boyle Coming to Vegas? (We Really Hope So)

Break out the hankies, and maybe the sequins too: Looks like Susan Boyle may be heading to Vegas. As reported by Las Vegas Weekly, the "Britain's Got Talent" finalist (the finale is scheduled for this Saturday) told the Daily Mirror that Donny Osmond has been courting her (not a sensation she's accustomed to, apparently) in the hopes of dueting with her during his show at the Flamingo. No word as to how Marie feels about that.
Boyle says she has accepted Donny's invitation and plans to be in Vegas in June. Personally, we can't get the idea of Donny down on one knee, singing "Puppy Love" to Ms. Boyle, who says she used to sing Donny's songs as a teenager, and who would obviously give the song some added emotional pop when she took over the mic.
In fact, whatever happens with the British talent show, we think Vegas might be the next best career move for Susan Boyle. But is there a way to add rhinestones to her librarian-esque skirt and hose without being too over the top?

Donny and Marie Pour on the Cheese and We Eat It Up

When the Flamingo Las Vegas decided to replace ailing Toni Braxton with America's most wholesome teen idols, Donny and Marie Osmond, we were quite skeptical. Let's be honest, here. Donny and Marie haven't been relevant together since the 70s. Sure, Marie fainted on "Dancing with the Stars" the other season and Donny played Joseph in a "Technicolor Coat" for a while, but aside from a talk-show stint in the 90s we thought this duo was doomed to play-out the rest of their lives in the pages of the National Enquirer. Well, at least Marie was.
Yet after Toni exited the Strip and then started sidestepping on "Dancing with the Stars," The Flamingo called up Donny and Marie to do a variety act, reminiscent of their highly-rated TV show which ran from 1976-79.
On a visit to Sin City in late January, at the behest of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), we were invited to see The Donny & Marie Show. And we were utterly shocked by what we learned. Shocked, we tell ya. Here's what we walked away thinking--Donny and Marie are talented, good-looking, entertaining and funny wholesome performers.
