Downtown isn't all scaffolding and openings. It's mostly that, but the still-evolving section of Vegas is also seeing some growing pains, sudden closures, and is keeping a few mysteries of its own, too.
Today, city officials, in response to growing party crowds, have decided to enact a weekend curfew in downtown. As of this Friday, October 4, anyone under 18 without a parent or guardian or not on their way to or from work, could risk a $300 ticket if they're found within a specific area between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. That area is framed by Main Street, Ogden, Bridger and Maryland Parkway, as reported by the Las Vegas Sun which largely encompasses the Fremont Street Experience and Fremont East.

Last week, we gave you a primer on the upcoming LGBT events in Las Vegas, then scurried off to the gym to prepare for the requisite pool parties. This week, we’re back with some details, several photos, and our dignity intact. (Thank you, steamed vegetables and chicken.)
This year’s PRIDE festivities have come and gone, but it was hardly a 'blink and you’ll miss it' event. In fact, there may have been too many things to do. Las Vegas PRIDE had teamed up with Orlando’s Gay Days and MGM Resorts’ FABULOUS events to make 2013 the biggest year yet. But, the end result was somewhat chaotic.

Things are about to get absolutely fabulous in Las Vegas (well, almost everything, as we’ll explain below). As we reported last Friday on our Facebook page, the Welcome To Las Vegas sign has been temporarily outfitted in rainbow hues to support the annual LGBT Las Vegas PRIDE week. Expect an influx of hard-bodied gym boys, women who prefer women, etc. to show solidarity while partying long and hard throughout the week. Tropicana, Luxor, Wynn/Encore, Aria, Trump, Mandalay Bay, The Cosmopolitan and Circus Circus (really?) will be rolling out the rainbow welcome mat for thousands of LGBT visitors. And, their larger-than-average discretionary spending budgets.

This VegasChatter writer loves the Las Vegas Strip. It’s high profile, glamorous, ever-evolving and over-the-top, just like her. Going to Downtown Vegas after partying on The Strip is like downgrading from a high-end department store to a swap meet. Sure, you’ll find similar things, but they won’t be as nice or expensive and it smells. But, if you can get past that, and all the homeless people, you’ll end up having a good time in a much less pretentious atmosphere!
Here are 10 reasons why even the prissiest of girls should visit Downtown Vegas:
1. Casual Atmosphere
This VegasChatter'er loves her stilettos and sparkly dresses, but for those nights when you feel more like flats and (cringe) wearing leggings as pants, there’s always downtown. No judgment or heel rats, just fun.
This is one of the places that made Downtown worth the trip. Recommended by one of our hipster BFFs (read: bike-riding, PBR-drinking writer), the nearly hidden spot is dark, plush and serves artfully crafted cocktails with ingredients we’ve never heard before.

And, so started our virgin voyage inside Drink and Drag, a new downtown stop featuring bowling, pool, booze and drag queens. A quick, fun exchange with the drag queen standing guard outside the door this evening. If Fremont passersby lured in by the music needed any insight as to the Drink and Drag theme inside, this was a pretty good introduction. Of course, the chance of tourists passing outside the nearly dead Neonopolis structure D&D is housed in and curiously making their way in and up the escalator is pretty slim. Most folks who venture this far back know what they're getting into.
Stepping inside didn't give us much time to acclimate ourselves to the lay of the land. To the front the bar, a quick left and we were having a ball already whether or not we planned to:

When we were predicting the ins and outs of dining in Las Vegas for the year ahead, we didn't see anywhere near this many pizzas in our wood-fired ovens. Just as with candy shops and steakhouses, it seems like there can never be enough pizza joints in Vegas now, either.
On a stroll through the
basement lower-level of MGM Grand (the place that used to be called Star Lane but is now evolving to something more.. we'll explore that next week), we discovered a construction wall for Project Pie -- A Kustom Pizzeria. The "k" is theirs. We fear a Kardashian konnection. First pizza, next the world mayorship? Ok, there's probably not a Kardashian angle. (We hope.) A Google found a Foursquare location for another Project Pie in Jersey with the recommendation, "Try the pie yo its bangin' holmes." There's a connection we can dig.

Last week, we told you about the newest change coming to Fremont Street -- Bar 46, a new indoor/outdoor gaming pit-slash-bar now under construction at Golden Nugget. (Click here to spy the renderings.) But, we didn't know just where we would find it -- until now.
VegasChatter friend Ted Newkirk sent us these pics over the weekend to lend some perspective. They show that Bar 46 will be located close to the northeast entrance of the hotel, just beyond the indoor/outdoor Starbucks. You can also see that the exterior wall has already started to come down.

Drink and Drag, the downtown bar that will feature bowling, pool and drag queens, is coming soon, eventually.
We've had reports of openings since December. In January, we got wind that a grand opening party for that month was delayed. Then, on Friday, Drink and Drag excitedly posted on its Facebook page that it was coming on March 30. Yes, finally! Well, at least until two days later (yes, yesterday), when the page posted a new new opening date of April 6.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that we won't have to wait beyond that! Until then, look on the right hand side of your screen for ideas on where you can drink up in Downtown Vegas until its debut.

The Drink & Drag Lounge is heading to Neonopolis and will offer booze, bowling, pool, a gamer lounge, darts, dancing and... drag queens. The bar's Facebook page is promising the lounge will be "100% staffed by America's Best Drag Queens."

We know nothing stays the same especially in this town, but it was still a sad Vegas moment to hear that the Lady Luck is no more.
Today, owners flushed the iconic name for the more royal sounding "Downtown Grand." As the picture above shows, the old name has already been plucked from the hotel's facade.
The unlucky property has been shuttered since 2006 when it was supposed to undergo remodeling. But, unlike the Plaza which later did the same, Lady Luck never reopened. It's unclear when the Grand will make its debut. A $100 million dollar remodel is currently underway and, hopefully, will stay that way. (knocks on wood)
And, that's not the only change still taking place in Downtown Vegas:
