Hungry? Time to Start Fantasizing About Vegas Uncork'd
Garden of the Gods + loads of food = happy us
Is it too tenuous a link to say that it’s exactly three months till the last day of Vegas Uncork’d? We’re going to say no, seeing as it’s breakfast o’clock right now.
The Bon Appetit-sponsored annual foodie bash is returning from 6-9 May this year. What to expect? Thirty events “blending the worlds of food, gaming and entertainment in the distinct way that makes Vegas so memorable.” Or, as we would put it, eating yourself silly for four days.

The Sahara's $1 Hot Dogs: Bargain or Unbearable?
Every time we drive past the Sahara, we keep seeing the Dollar Days sign with its ads for $1 beers, shots and hot dogs. We’ve kept meaning to check it out, but keep chickening out instead. So this week we thought it was high time to psych ourselves up and hit it.
We tried to get our dog at the main bar, which seemed fine (that is, if you keep your eye on the decor, not the clientele), but you can only get the $1 beer there. Instead, for the meat, we were directed to the bar by the Nascar Café at the back of the casino.

Is The Aria Buffet Trying To Put Us Off Our Food?
Our final spoils. Btw, if you’re squeamish, don’t scroll down
OK, hotel folk. We know times are tough in Vegas at the moment. We know you want to get as much money out of us on gamblin’ and shows as you can. But surely you can let us get our own back by stuffing our little tummies when it comes to the buffet?
We ask because, after our first bash at the Aria buffet on Saturday, which set us back a whopping $38 (including tax), we have a sneaking suspicion they might be trying to put us off our food to keep their profit margins up.

How Far Should You Go for a Capriotti's Sandwich?
Answer: Whatever the distance, it's worth it.
Over the summer we told you that Capriotti's sandwiches were the best in Vegas, hands down. Not long after that, it was confirmed that Capriotti's sandwiches were the best in the nation.
But as good as these sandwiches are--Capriotti's homecooks all their own meats and uses fresh veggies and freshly baked bread--they aren't all that accessible to folks who fly in for the weekend and shack up in a room on the Strip. Tasting a bite of Capriotti's while you're in town involves either walking quite a bit, riding on The Deuce or taking a cab.
So what's a Vegas visitor to do? Don't worry, we got you covered.
The closest Capriotti's to the Strip is at 322 West Sahara Avenue, right next to The Golden Steer. The sub shop sits in low-key strip mall and has been recently renovated. It's not quite no man's land but it does require some effort to get to. If you make a trip to the Bonanza Gift Store or the NASCAR rides at The Sahara or for some inexplicable reason are staying at the Riviera, it's only a one block walk to Capriotti's to get your fix.

Need a Hooters Fix? Now You Can Order Wings 2 Go

This post was written by Globetrotting Gourmet.
We once kicked a vegetarian boyfriend to the curb after he expressed strong opinions about us eating meat off the bone. We think of him (not so) fondly every time we have finger-licking good food, especially wings. After all, he didn't drink either (strike two), and everyone knows that wings and beer are like the Bonnie and Clyde of sports bar staples.
The smartypants at Hooters Casino Hotel recognized the high demand for its tasty wings, especially by drunk hotel guests and nearby UNLVs students, when they launched its Hooters Wings 2 Go service. It's pretty damn convenient, especially when late-night greasy food cravings kick in and you're stumbling around in the Strip (you know exactly what I'm talking about) or you've timed your Vegas stay with a football game.

Luxor's All-Day Buffet Is Easy on the Wallet, Hard on the Stomach
A buffet highlight was the small-portioned dessert cups (clockwise from top left), including the caramel flan, panna cotta, pistachio crème brûlée and chocolate mousse.
It's hard to find tasty yet affordable eats on the strip, amid all gourmet restaurants helmed by world-famous chefs. The Luxor gives you a cheapie option with its all-day buffet deal—just don't go expecting cuisine anywhere near the caliber of Joël Robuchon.
For $29.99 per adult and $14.99 per kiddie, you can eat at MORE The Buffet at Luxor whenever you want, as many times as you want. The plus is that unlike at most buffets, where you'd feel forced to bust your belt and fill up on the goods to get your money's worth, here you can graze without guilt, since you can always go back to the buffet even if you get hungry an hour after dinner.

This Weekend: Eat Cake and Help End Hunger

Timed perfectly to coincide with Restaurant Week, The Cheesecake Factory’s "Drive Out Hunger Tour" will make a stop in Las Vegas this Saturday, September 5th.
Teaming up with Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief charity, The Cheesecake Factory will be giving away a free slice of Stefanie's Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake in exchange for a donation of two cans of soup.
In case you aren’t privy to the deliciousness of this slice, it layers Red Velvet Cake and Original Cheesecake with Cheesecake Factory cream cheese frosting. For future mental note: if you dine at the restaurant, 25¢ from the sale of each slice is donated to Feeding America.

La Creperie: A Taste of Paris at Paris

The concept of a fine breakfast is wonderfully subjective for most of us and it can change from week to week depending on our mood, schedule and even a lifestyle change (that diet you might be on consisting of egg whites and a grapefruit - but we shouldn’t digress).
So you're in Vegas, and if there is one thing this city teaches you is that you have to break out of the ordinary if only for a brief time and try something a little different. In this case, we heartily suggest starting your morning with a desert crêpe at the La Creperie kiosk located in the Paris Las Vegas.

Pink's Hot Dogs Now Officially Open at Planet Hollywood

Angelenos know that Pinks is not merely the pluralizing of a color, but one of the best hot dog joints (over 70 years and still ticking) on the West Coast. Now as many of us might love a great dog, a four hour trek from Sin City to L.A. is a bit much for even the most ardent fan of Pink's, so all the better they have now opened up a spot on Vegas’ ever dependable Strip.
Nabbing an outlet in Planet Hollywood's Miracle Mile Shops, this particular Pink's may not have the swaggering chic that comes from its sister’s spot just off Melrose Avenue, but it comes close. Located on an outdoor terrace at the casino’s south end, the view is close enough for some great people watching on the Boulevard but still far enough away without too many tourists gawking at your Polish dog.

Eat, Save, Help During Vegas Restaurant Week
It’s one thing to want to save some money, but a true mitzvah to save dough while supporting a good cause. Like the "Help Out By Helping Out!" event being held during Restaurant Week, August 31 through September 6, 2009.

Todd's Unique Dining :: Vegas' Secret Foodie Destination
There are six ratings of "28" in the 2009 Zagat guide for Vegas in the category of Top Food. Among them: Guy Savoy, Nobu, L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon. There's one name that isn't internationally recognized, however: Todd Clore, of Todd's Unique Dining. It's because Clore's bistro - a tiny affair, manned by him nightly, tucked away in the corner of a Green Valley strip mall, about ten minutes from the Strip - doesn't advertise, forgoes celebrity magnetism, and doesn't have the glitz, glamor, and pull-out-the-stops special effects that the other ones do. Instead: they have incredible food that speaks for itself, at ridiculously low prices. And they have a local following - ravenously awaiting Todd's return from vacation, tomorrow evening - to prove it.

Lollicup: Town Square's Boba Tea Boomtowns
Town Square: Las Vegas’ sprawling, homey, outdoor mega mall for tourists and residents of the city, right off of the Strip. It's armed with plenty of reasonable shopping choices to tempt you when you’re roaming around the premises, but choices for a cool drink can be cumbersome. Given that, we'd like to wholeheartedly endorse these little kiosks that pop up from time to time on the property that go by the twee moniker of Lollicup.
