Finally, Proof Who Let The Dogs Out

Where: 455 East Harmon Ave. [map], 89169

Rumor Resort went to the dogs earlier this summer with the announcement of Yappy Hour, a Happy Hour for dogs, but since we don't have a dog (damn you landlord!) we didn't have a reason to hit the pup deck yet. We were at Rumor for a birthday bash last night and walked into a lobby, bar, and lawn-full of four legged friends. Yip Yip for Yappy Hour!

So what did the dog days of summer look like? Big dogs, little dogs, girlie dogs, and manly dogs explored all corners of the resort but all well-behaved and honestly - they looked like they were enjoying themselves! We even made a few friends who wanted someone new to pet them. We spied some leg-lifting and squatting near the palm trees but there was always a two-legged master there to clean it up. Remind us never to lay on that lawn in the future though.

Who Let The Dogs Out? Why, That Would Be The Rumor Resort

Where: 455 E. Harmon Ave [map], 89109
June 1, 2011 at 7:22 PM | by | Comment (1)

What a difference a year makes. Just last summer, Las Vegas was still one of the most pet unfriendly cities in America as most of the hotels in town didn't allow cats or dogs. But with Caesars' wildly successful PetStay program, Vegas hotels have been going to the dogs. And not just by allowing them in the room.

Trump Las Vegas has started to offer pup massages while THEhotel at Mandalay Bay has now got dog walkers on staff. So the next logical progression was...Yappy Hour put together by the Rumor Resort which has taken pets since it opened last summer.

The Yappy Hour is happening tomorrow in the hotel's courtyard from 5 to 8pm, featuring drink specials for the humans, yappatizers for the dogs and doggie merchandise from both dogs and their owners to drool over.

The Yappy Hour will also be hosting a Doggie Talent Contest where the winning pooch will get a two-night stay at Rumor and dinner for two at Addiction. Hmmm...anyone know how to teach your dog to count cards?

T-Time at T-Bones in Summerlin Is a T-Riffic Idea

Where: 11011 West Charleston [map], 89135
March 16, 2011 at 1:12 PM | by | Comments (2)

We've been sitting on this one for a few weeks now but judging by it's popularity, it's not a secret at all anymore. T-Bones Chophouse and Lounge, out at Red Rock Casino in Summerlin has launched a daily happy hour called T-Time.

Seven days a week from 5-7pm, the restaurant offers 50 items for just five bucks. Which fits into our pocketbooks a lot more often than the regular menu. Executive Chef Joseph Kudrak came up with the concept as a "destination location for locals to socialize over great food and drinks". Judging by how packed the bar area is every single day for T-Time, his concept is a success. Seriously, if you're not there at 5pm when the restaurant opens, you risk not getting a seat. Any day of the week.

M Resort Wants To Take You To Your Happy Place

Where: 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South [map], 89044
February 24, 2011 at 5:07 PM | by | Comments (2)

We love hearing about great Happy Hour deals and M Resort apparently wants to C us soon. (insert groan here.)

Lame yuks aside, M Resort is adding a new twist to the proliferation of Happy Hours on The Strip. There's Happy Hours, Reverse Happy Hours, Cavihours, and a few more that we probably aren't recalling, but apparently M Resort execs want to top them all off with a truly bottomless (if you're up for it) experience.

Starting this coming Tuesday, March 1, M will offer what they're calling a "Happy Hour Guarantee," alcohol specials that last all day long. That's $5 premium drinks, $3 bottled beer, and 1/3 off bottles of vino. At any of the resort's bars. 24/7.

Sure the prices are good, we hear you say, but what kind of booze will they be serving? Corona, Heineken, Guinness, Captain Morgan, Jose Cuervo, and Belvedere Vodka to name what we're pretty sure is a few.

Las Vegas Is Not As Drunk As You Think

February 10, 2011 at 6:35 PM | by | Comment (1)

Drunk - [druhngk] - being in a temporary state in which one's physical and mental faculties are impaired by an excess of alcoholic drink. (Dictionary.com)

We know we're not the only ones in Vegas that enjoy our booze, so it came to us as a major surprise when we saw that Las Vegas was only 11th on the list of America's drunkest cities. So who drinks more than us? Here's the list as determined by Men's Health magazine:

1. Fresno, CA
2. Reno, NV
3. Billings, MT
4. Riverside, CA
5. Austin, TX
6. St. Louis, MO
7. San Antonio, TX
8. Lubbock, TX
9. Tucson, AZ
10. Bakersfield, CA
11. Las Vegas, NV

We've traveled to a lot of places in this country and can definitely vouch for Austin being #5, but with every third commercial on the radio or local TV in Las Vegas being geared towards drunk drivers we're very surprised that Las Vegas is so low.

Perhaps Las Vegas is low on the list because the bulk of the drunks aren't actually from Vegas, they're vacationers here for a few days. If Las Vegas is going to get into the top 10 (which probably isn't a good thing) here are a few places to get started:

Johnny Smalls Goes All You Can Eat With Its New Happy Hour

Where: 4455 Paradise Road [map], 89169
November 15, 2010 at 12:50 PM | by | Comments (0)

Another food-based Happy Hour? We likey a lot. After Munch Bar’s offering of half price appetizers, Johnny Smalls at the Hard Rock is going all out by offering all you can eat tapas for $19.99 – which includes anything from the regular menu.

The deal, according to their Twitter, is valid Wednesday to Sunday, and if you fancy a drink, combine it with the Happy Hour they already have, when you get 2 for one cocktails Wednesday to Sunday from 5-7pm.

Does this mean the place is in trouble? Well, reviews have been mixed although we liked most of what we tried at a taster session. But for $19.99 you can’t argue much. We’re pretty sure it’s going to get even louder in there.

Get Your Munch On For Half Price With The Latest Happy Hour

Where: 3570 Las Vegas Blvd South [map], 89109
November 2, 2010 at 1:00 PM | by | Comments (0)

There are few things we like more than Happy Hours here at VegasChatter so we’re excited about the latest one to be revealed: Munch Bar at Caesars Palace is launching what it calls MunchHour.

Best of all, it’s a foodie happy hour, meaning you can line your little tummy and do less damage from the night ahead. Appetizers will be half off, which means prices will start at $4 for dishes such as Tiny Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, nachos and wings. Which all sounds great – except for the fact that it’s already packed every time we walk by, so presumably this will only make things worse.

Sigh. MunchHour will take place every day from 4-7pm and then again from 9pm to midnight.

$5 for All You Can Drink? That'd Be Rockhouse's College Wednesdays

Where: 3535 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
October 28, 2010 at 2:05 PM | by | Comment (1)

Hate to say this, but we’re quite loving Rockhouse at the moment. Hot on the (lucite) heels of their squirt guns party in the summer, they’re launching College Wednesdays, which basically translates as “getting as drunk as humanly possible for very little money, whether or not you’re a student”.

For starters, anyone with a college ID (not necessarily a Nevada one) will get all-you-can-drink benefits for just $5 for girls and $10 for guys. Yes, $5 for as much as your body can take, for less than a cocktail. Brilliant.

And for those perverts who like hanging out with students without being students, you get perks too. All women will get open bar privileges for $10, and men will have to stump up $20 – still not bad if you’re going to make a night of it.

Rare 120 Introduces a Midweek Reverse Happy Hour

Where: 4455 Paradise Rd. [map], 89109
October 27, 2010 at 1:21 PM | by | Comments (0)

The words Happy Hour always bring a smile to our face and the Hard Rock has added another grin without resorting to more jellyfish displays. The casino’s steakhouse, Rare 120, has launched a reverse happy hour Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9pm to closing.

Limiting the hours of happiness to three days midweek isn’t quite jumping in with both feet. But perhaps they are testing the waters much like we would the Rehab pool with multiple chem tests before dipping a toe in. Even our big toe.

Thursdays Are the New Nights To Hit Up the Artisan (And Our Favorite Vegas Celebs)

Where: 1501 W Sahara Ave [map], 89102
September 30, 2010 at 12:34 PM | by | Comments (0)

We already know that Tom Lowe and Chris Phillips are fans of the Artisan, and it might get a few more now, thanks to its new Asian-themed Thursday night event called Yen.

Yen will run from 10pm-4am and feature dance, house and electro music (it’s hosted by XRadio). We’re not so hot on that but a) maybe we could ask Messrs Lowe and Phillips to give us a private performance instead and b) there’s a Happy Hour from 7-10pm and even free appetizers from 7-8pm. Just how we like our evening entertainment.

Now if they could only lay on some free buses out to the suburbs, that’d be tonight sorted.

Rock & Rita's Introduce a Reverse Happy Hour For Hard Core Partiers

Where: 2880 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89109
September 29, 2010 at 12:54 PM | by | Comment (1)

The only thing better than Happy Hours? Late night Happy Hours. And the only thing better than late night Happy Hours? Late night munchies. So we’re digging the new HH offering from Rock & Rita’s at Circus Circus.

The place is already open 24/7 but from now on, 10pm-6am will be deemed Reverse Happy Hour for night owls. Drinks are two for one throughout the night, and, even better, there’ll be seven food items on the menu for $5 – from pretzels and dips to sliders and a pulled BBQ pork fest.

Then from 7am, it’s time for breakfast.

Of course, you’ll also need a certain amount of bravery/Dutch courage to venture into Circus Circus in the middle of the night, but hey, that’s what valet’s for.

Now Presenting the Holograph Dancers at Lolita's

Where: 6605 S Las Vegas Blvd [map], 89119
August 25, 2010 at 4:31 PM | by | Comment (1)

Don't forget it's Geek Week on VegasChatter! We're doing Vegas tech-stylee all this week. Today we have a guest post from one of our favorite Vegas Twitterers, @amandahimes, on the art of the Tweetup.

Ever wonder what sets Lolita’s Cantina apart from other hot spots in Sin City? Well, it's definitely not the food or décor which falls short of expectations. Instead, it's their dancers. But these aren't your average Vegas dancers.

Lolita’s Cantina is America’s first holographic nightclub. While that may sound like you will be able to get your groove on with a sexy go-go dancer without fear of rejection, you won’t.

Lolita’s utilizes Digital Illusions, LLC state-of-the-art fire retardant polymers and high-definition video that create an illusion second to none.

The life like illusions on stage never miss a beat, the performers never have to call in sick, and the performances will always be flawless.
