The Cosmopolitan Adds Holstein's Burger Joint To Its Restaurant Porn

But will they deliver burgers on top of the marquee? That is the real question.

With so many awesome restaurant brand and big chef names opening at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas we're starting to forget that this will be a place where you can sleep and gamble as well.

The latest restaurant to join the already stacked roster is Holstein's, which is described as a new burger joint concept from local restaurateurs Billy Richardson, Kyle Madden and Chef Anthony Meidenbauer from across the street at Planet Hollywood. Burger joints are a dime a dozen in this town so Holstein's will have to try its hardest to stand out from the rest.

Here's what they are planning:

CityCenter's Aria Hotel Wants to Redefine Vegas Luxury

Where: 3730 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
June 9, 2009 at 11:57 AM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

According to its Web site, the new Aria Resort & Casino at CityCenter is available for bookings starting Thursday, December 17 – one day after its official opening date. Deluxe rooms at Aria, CityCenter’s anchor hotel, start at $199 per night on opening weekend (Friday and Saturday), while the most expensive digs available – the two-bedroom Penthouse Sky Suite – runs $1,300 per night.

And just what sort of rooms is Aria offering that promise to set “the new standard in Las Vegas luxury”? Well, that Deluxe Room – Aria’s entry-level accommodation – has an entry foyer, dressing area with dual closets and twice-daily maid service. Okay. We’ll acknowledge that these features already go a bit beyond your standard room offerings in Vegas, or anywhere that we know of for that matter.

Because this is an MGM MIRAGE property – the same company that brought you the uber-wired Skylofts at MGM Grand and the in-cabana Wii gaming systems at Wet Republic – everything in the room can be controlled through one bedside, touch-screen device. That’d be the 42-inch plasma TV, audio system, draperies, temperature, wake-up calls and room service.

Fontainebleau Definitely Not Opening This Year

May 4, 2009 at 5:31 PM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

Late last week, the mammoth Fontainebleau began laying off construction workers as it seeks to resolve its financing problems.

Today’s Casino City Times is reporting that laid-off construction workers were told it might take a couple of months to resolve the Fontainebleau’s lawsuit against its lenders, which precipitated the construction slowdown. What this means for us? We aren't going to be staying in the Fontainebleau come October, when the hotel was expected to be open.

Right now, it seems the best we can hope for is that the resort’s litigious, financial mess is resolved to the same happy end as CityCenter’s, which averted disaster with a new developer-lender agreement last week. With any luck they’ll land on a solution sooner than later and the north Strip’s first modern megaresort will be open by the end of the year.

Surprise, Surprise: There Are Still Units for Sale at The PH Towers

Where: 3667 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109

When the idea to build The PH Towers by Westgate--the "tallest timeshare building in history" adjacent to Vegas’ Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino--came about a few years ago, Las Vegas was in the midst of a serious boomtime. Today? Not so much.

Still, the PH Towers are expected to open this summer and the word on the Strip is that an announcement is expected soon regarding reservation availability for Vegas visitors.

Fontainebleau Coming to The Strip in Late 2009, We Think

March 5, 2009 at 4:07 PM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

With its sheer size already capturing Las Vegas’ attention, the Fontainebleau Las Vegas is nearing completion of the glass-encasing phase of its tower construction.

The big, blue behemoth – sister to the historic Miami Beach Fontainebleau – sits just north of the Wynn/Encore campus, making it the newest development on that end of the Strip in about 50 years.
