If You Stand By For A Room Upgrade At Hard Rock, You May Be Left Standing

Editor's Note: Ok, here's the real deal as to why I am uploading JuliaB's stories. It's not that her flight is delayed and the airport WiFi is on the fritz. No, rather she has taken a Chippendale hostage inside Norm Clarke's house and she is demanding that "Billy" sing and dance to "Baby" by Justin Bieber for the 100th time. She will also not hand him over until someone finds her some powdered chewing gum. LVMPD are hard at work on the negotiations. Until Billy is free, carry on.
A few weeks ago, if you remember correctly, we told you about booking our stay at the Hard Rock and said that they’d tried to persuade us to upgrade over email (called eStandby) before we arrived.
At the time, we said we’d wait till check in, and wondered who on earth would pay a lot to upgrade ahead of time.
Well, now we can report that if you want to upgrade, you’d better do it in advance. When we rocked up (on a Monday night, no less), we were confident of scoring some kind of upgrade – our winning smile and local ID seem to do wonders at most hotels.

Out with the Old and Wynn With The New Resort Deluxe Rooms

A newly renovated Resort Deluxe king room at the Wynn
After five years, Wynn Las Vegas was due for a renovation in their guest rooms and that's just what they've announced today. And not only have the room looks been upgraded, there's a name change too from Resort to Resort Deluxe:
The new Resort Deluxe room offers a modern update to our classic resort room. Featuring a crisp, neutral and creamy decor, the Resort Deluxe is draped in natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows and accented by an array of contemporary furnishings and fabrics. Additional, advance technologies including remotely controlled lighting, drapery and room service messaging are the pinnacle of guest convenience and privacy.
But you can rest assured that the vivid floral artwork will remain!

Labor Day Rates for the Big Hitters Could Be Worse
Venice for Labor Day. How very unpatriotic
Last week we concentrated on cheap and midrate hotels for Labor Day. Today we’re feeling flush, so we thought we’d check out the big boys.
Wynn is averaging as a minimum of $339 over the weekend, while the cheapest you’ll do at Encore is $386.
You can stay all three days at the Venetian for $837 ($229 Friday, $349 Saturday, $259 Sunday).

Cheap Vegas is Still Relatively Affordable For Labor Day (So Far)
Yours for $48 on a Friday night, courtesy of the Sahara
Yesterday we took a quick look at midrate hotels for Labor Day, and today we had a trawl for the cheap ones. Specifically, our five top cheap ones. Here’s what they’re going for:

Rooms are Reasonable for Labor Day Weekend (But Book Now)

Pick a seat, any seat! (because you might not be able to do that on Labor Day Weekend.)
We're coming up on one of the biggest weekends in Sin City--Labor Day Weekend and so far, room rates are looking rather reasonable...for now.
Doing a quick look at the strip hotels on Expedia.com we saw Paris Las Vegas for $153 a night (and remember, no resort fees) as well as the sexy new Tropicana Las Vegas for $119 a night. However, if you want one last chance for summer sex fun in the pool at the Hard Rock, rooms there are already creeping up to $251 a night.
Meanwhile, the Trump Las Vegas might be a good spot if you're going with a group. Their one-bedroom suite with a pull-out couch, kitchen and a 4pm late check-out is averaging $195 a night. A regular city view studio suite is just $125 a night. (But remember, there's no gaming on site.)

The Five Best Budget Hotel Rooms In Vegas
Sometimes, appearances can be deceptive. When it comes to the rooms, that is. Not the casino. Shudder.
Reader Santony may not agree with this, but we at VegasChatter are all about the bargains. But how do you tell if dealz really are dealz? How to differentiate between a $27 room at Excalibur and a $25 gaffe at Imperial Palace? Should you write off Hooters for being Hooters? And are the Rio “suites” actually places you’d want to set foot in?
Reader, we share your pain, and not just because on our first trip to Vegas we ended up at the Stratosphere. The other week, we were watching the poor souls making their way around IP when we shacked up in the room of hell, and it made us think: wow, if you didn’t know Vegas too well, you’d think that all cheap rooms in this town came with grimy mirrored ceilings and suicidal impulses on the side.
So to save you from popping into CVS for some razor blades, here’s our list of top budget hotel rooms in Vegas. We've shacked up in a lot of dross in order to sift out some goodies. You’re welcome.

Hard Rock Wants You to Stand By For a Better Room
We’re always up for a nice upgrade here at VegasChatter, but normally we like to get them as a nice surprise at check in, not pay for them several weeks in advance. But it seems like that’s what the Hard Rock wants us to do.
We recently saw a good Twitter deal for the hotel, booked a room there and thought nothing more of it (apart from wondering why the hell we’d just booked a room at the Hard Rock). Until a couple of days later, we got an email from the hotel telling us about their eStandby upgrade system.
According to the email:
As a special offer, you can use the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas eStandby Upgrade® Program to potentially upgrade this reservation to one of the following premium rooms for as little as $39 extra per night.
Yes, for $39 we could upgrade our standard room to a pool view king. For $49 we could get a corner king. For $109, a supreme pool king.
The upgrade wouldn’t be guaranteed – but if there was availability at check in, you’d get it, and you’d be billed accordingly.

The Cosmopolitan's Wraparound Terrace Suites Start at $510 on Opening Night

Yesterday we dropped some amazing new photos of The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas and while we continue to drool over the pics, we're trying to keep our excitement in check but checking our bank account.
The Cosmopolitan's full website is up and aside from a glut of room photos for every category, the big news is that you can even make reservations for opening day on December 15. Our nifty commenters chatted a bit about this and it looks like the starting rate for opening night is $300 for a standard City room which comes with two queen-sized beds.
But the better deal is the terrace studio which comes with a king bed and a private 110-sq.ft. terrace for the same price. As the photo on the Cosmo's website suggests, you can drink coffee and stare upon Las Vegas and wonder when the Veer Towers are going to open.

A Sneak Peek at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas

Awww yeeaaah. Nothing gets us Vegas geeks more excited than a sneak peek and that is just what we have today for the upcoming The Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino opening in Las Vegas on December 15th. Check out these condo-style room shots! We're loving the residential style here (some rooms will feature terraces) and that peekaboo bathroom looks positively naughty.
The Cosmopolitan also launched a full website today with even more information on the resort's guest rooms, the casino, its three pools, the Sahra spa and the resort's eagerly anticipated "restaurant collection." We've posted before on the restaurant announcements but we are extremely excited for one of our fave NYC sushi joints, Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill to open at the Cosmo.
We'll have loads more on the Cosmo tomorrow but for now, don't make any plans for New Year's Eve. That's when The Cosmopolitan will have its grand opening party!
What do you think of the Cosmopolitan rooms--hot or not? Let us know in comments below
Thanks to Katalyst for hooking it up!

What is The Palazzo's Prestige Level and Is It Worth It?

The Prestige Lounge
The Palazzo has recently been touting their Prestige Level of accommodations. While the suites are the same as the ones you would book anyways, the amenities and services are far above the rest. They include:
· Private champagne check in
· Complimentary cocktail reception in the Prestige Lounge on the 23rd floor
· Access to the Canyon Ranch SpaClub® fitness center, admission to Azure, complimentary WiFi
· A deluxe continental breakfast and afternoon teas and coffees, along with several snacks in the Prestige lounge
· A Packing and unpacking service
There are a few more services which you can check out here. We've been privy to the Prestige Lounge and it's quite cool with great views overlooking the Strip. It's also got plenty of peaceful seating areas and personally, we loved grazing the afternoon snacks and goodies.

Las Vegas Hilton Opens Its 46 Classic Suites to the Public

The Conrad Sky Villa, which has three bedrooms and two floors!
There's a new reason to give the Las Vegas Hilton a try on your next trip to Vegas--the hotel's classic suites, which have typically been used only by celebrities and VIPs, are now open to the public.
The forty-six (46) distinctive suites within the Las Vegas Hilton offer a variety of design options and features to meet the needs of the most discerning guest. For the ultimate VIP experience, our premier accommodations include the three palatial Sky Villas, spacious and elegant residences ranging from 12,000 to 15,400 square feet.
The Sky Villas look the dopest, even the overly Italianate Verona Sky Villa which features three bedrooms, a private outdoor pool and garden and a sculpted observation deck. This suite, along with the Tuscany SKy Villa make up what was once Elvis' famed suite at the hotel. However, this room/mini-mansion has been touched by Robin Leach, whose old show "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" once featured the suite.

If Only We Didn't Have to Leave Our Room at Aria
So last week we spent two nights at Aria exactly six months after it had opened. Back in December, we only toured the hotel rooms, casino and restaurants. But this time we got the FULL effect. And how was it? Mixed. Very mixed. Aria, if you are reading this review--pay attention.
Check-In
Check-in took about 20 minutes because of some snafu with our reservation and the promo code we used. But all worked out well and our rate was honored. We were then sent on our way to room 19036. Upon stepping out of the elevator on the 19th floor, we had to study the room numbers sign really hard to find where our room might be located. Then when we started walking to our room, the numbers seemed to be in the wrong order. It started off with something like 19236 and then after a few doors, it reset to 19000.
We didn't really understand this but we pressed on and found our room near the very end of the hallway. It two minutes to get from our room to the elevator each time (without luggage), which is, despite what you'd think, is a long time. It also instilled a sense of dread in us about leaving our room. How long is the walk going to take this time, we thought?
