We're sure this isn't going to choke up too many people (if any), but we'll still take this moment to pause in memory of six Vegas restaurants that are no more (or close to it).
News broke earlier today about the sudden shutter of Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ and American Burger Works at Excalibur. The Las Vegas Sun says the restaurants filed for bankruptcy protection and closed yesterday. Neither had been open a year.

We knew the kickoff of the NFL season was going to take us a casino.. but which? After reading that our favorite non-sportsbook place to watch the games on The Strip was serving Flavor Flav's fried chicken we had the answer. Off to Blondies at Planet Hollywood we went!
Week one of the NFL season is, obviously, a little busier than most Sundays so Blondies imposed a minimum per person. But, at $25, it wasn't a big deal. That's only a few drinks or almost the cost of a plate of fried chicken.

Who's Got the Fever For Flavor Flav's House Of Flavor? We Do (Really)
How does a clock-carrying celebrity celebrate their 53rd birthday in this day and age if they've already done multiple reality shows? By opening their own chicken joint in Las Vegas, of course. That's exactly what Flavor Flav did March 16. The off-Strip House of Flavor is located across from the Boulevard Mall, about a five minute drive from the original rumored location at the Riviera.

Yeah, Boy! House of Flavor Opens Next Week
Almost a year ago, TMZ had us all believing that 2011 would see a House of Flavor in the Riviera. But, we never did get the chance to dive into a bucket of Flav-orful chicken. Well, guess what? House of Flavor really is coming to Vegas. 'Cept not to the Riv. Or, the Strip.
No, House of Flavor -- the chicken joint of, you guessed it, Flavor Flav -- will open across from the off-Strip Boulevard Mall next Thursday, March 15. A grand opening is set for 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. And, there's a good chance that Flav himself will be there since he's available a local and all. Just exercise some caution when ordering the potato salad. We're just saying.

It's About Time, The Riv's Getting Some Flava And Some 'Balls
Just when we were cringing over reports of surly service and bedbugs, the Riviera just may get us to cross its threshold again, albeit with a bottle of Purell and gloves tucked into our pockets and a sunny Teflon smile in our hearts.
Over the weekend, TMZ confirmed that Flavor Flav will bring Flavor Flav's House of Flavor to the Riv next month:
"We're told "House of Flavors" will expand Flav's empire beyond a simple poultry eatery -- and will include a bar, a merchandising area with Flavor Flav memorabilia PLUS a recording studio and a stage!
We're told construction of the mega-Flav endeavor is set to begin on Monday ... with the grand opening currently slated for May 30."

Flavor Flav-orful Chicken Coming To The Riv?
You know it's going to be an interesting day when the Riv tweetchecks Flavor Flav:
"It was nice to have @FlavorFlav at @RivieraLasVegas - great things to come!"
That's one tweet you just can't let go so after a quick Google we discovered... are you ready for this?... Flavor Flav is close to a deal that would bring his fried chicken joint to the Riv.
TMZ is reporting that Flav met with Riviera's CEO on Monday (and you've gotta see their pic) and that names are almost on the dotted lines.
This would be the second Flav's Fried Chicken and TMZ says it would have "prime real estate" in the Riv, if it happens. The first opened in Clinton, Iowa a few months back.
