Serendipity is One, Celebrates With Sweetness (And Holly Madison)

It was a special date yesterday, kids. The day Ahmadinejad derided Obama’s denuclearization efforts? No. The day the UK general election was announced, changing the political landscape for the next generation? Nah. The day Jim (Carrey) n Jen (McCarthy) split? Not even.

No, in Vegas yesterday was best known for being crowned Serendipity 3 Day – yes, officially, by Mayor Goodman via a proclamation and everything.

What had the café done to deserve this (apart from masterfully feeding us hangover omelettes and conveying sugar fixes whenever we’re in need)? Just turn one year old.

Yes, seriously. Mayor Goodman didn’t totally sell out turn up, but he sent a signed proclamation and the technically prettier Holly Madison in his place.

Sugar and Ice Has Now Turned Into The Pizza Place

We've always loved the old-timey malt shop and cafe Sugar and Ice at Wynn Las Vegas, mostly because of its waterfall views and the free WiFi but the ice cream and sweets weren't so bad either!

That's why it's a good thing that although the shop has changed names to the generic Pizza Place, the free WiFi has remained. The menu hasn't changed that much either. There is still gelato on-hand, as well as sandwiches (which are more of the Italian sub variety) and salads but as the name implies, pizza pies are now yours to be had. Cheese slices start at $4.25, 12" pies at $12.50 and 22" pies at $27.50.

The Pizza Place is open Sunday through Thursday from 9am to 11pm and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Blizzberry Opening in The Palms But Still No Pinkberry for Vegas

Something called Blizzberry is opening at The Palms later this summer in the Food Court. While the name brings to mind a certain berry that is pink, Blizzberry is 100 percent natural frozen yogurt served with your choice of fresh fruit toppings and/or candied treats.

Ok, yeah it's a Pinkberry rip-off. However, while Pinkberry has a plethora of toppings but limited flavors, Blizzberry will put forth 14 frozen yogurt flavors along with more sweet offerings like smoothies, Belgian waffles, milkshakes, and iced blended coffees. The lactose intolerant need not order here but Britney Spears, who is reportedly a fan of the chain's LA locations, will no doubt make a pit stop on her next visit to her BFFs, The Maloofs.

Meanwhile, when is Las Vegas going to get an honest-to-goodness Pinkberry? If San Diego can get one (next to the Hard Rock San Diego) Las Vegas certainly can.

Bette Midler Gets Her Own Sundae at Serendipity 3

Serendipity 3 is the sweetest place on the Strip, serving up specialty sundaes and sinfully sweet concoctions. And while we'll pass on the $1,000 Golden Opulence Sundae, we're fiending to order the Divine Showgirl Sundae, a new treat is in honor of Bette Midler's 100th show at Caesars Palace.

The sundae was born from a Facebook contest and will be featured on the Serendipity 3 menu at Caesars Palace throughout the summer, concluding Aug. 31. The winning sundae’s creator was awarded two free tickets to the show and lunch for two at Serendipity. This sundae features strawberry and vanilla ice cream and exotic fruits honoring Bette’s Hawaiian heritage. The price: $12.75

Looks like you know where to find us until Labor Day Weekend.

Ben & Jerry's at PH and The Stratosphere Serving Free Cones Today

As our brother Jaunted pointed out already, today is Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's shops worldwide.

And while Las Vegas has several Scoop Shops on the Strip, not all of them are participating. Why? Well, we aren't sure but it's probably got something to do with franchising laws and of course, money. In fact, only two Ben & Jerry's shops are participating--Planet Hollywood's (in the Miracle Mile shops) and The Stratosphere's.

Just make sure you get there before 8pm to get your favorite flavor on a free cone.

Serendipity 3 Is Now Open and Serving The 'Most Expensive Dessert'

Last week we noticed the finishing touches going up at Serendipity 3 in front of Caesars Palace and wondered whether this New York spin-off would have the Golden Opulence Sundae, a $1,000 concoction that requires 48-hours advanced notice made with "Tahitian vanilla ice cream, rare chocolates made from Venezuelan cocoa beans, exotic fruits and 23-karat edible gold leaf." It's currently a Guinness World Record Holder for Most Expensive Dessert.

The answer? Yes indeed.

But don't fear, you can always splurge on some of the other tasty treats on the menu. We're interested in trying out the One-N-Only Las Vegas Buffet Sandwich, which "combines tastes of Italy, Japan, France, Mexico and the United States – all on the same bun." (If you try it before us, let us know how it was!) We're also tempted by the Frrrozen Hot Chocolate which blends 20 different kinds of chocolate. Make sure you have your dentist on speed-dial.

Serendipity is open from 11 am until 12 midnight daily. There's a full bar serving cocktail specialties like the Candy Cotton Martini. Take-out is offered as well and we fear that could be dangerous. For reservations to actually go inside the restaurant, call 1-877-346-4642.

Serendipity 3 Opening at Caesars Next Week

Strolling along the Strip the other day, we saw workers in front of Caesars Palace putting the finishing touches on Serendipity 3, the Las Vegas outpost of the celeb-fave restaurant/ice-cream joint in New York.

The shop is set to open on April 6th in an ultra-convenient location along Las Vegas Boulevard. Meaning you don't have to walk into the bowels of Caesars to find it.
