Will Vegas Lay The Favorite In Utah?

January 5, 2012 at 7:25 PM | by | Comments (0)

Sparing you the almost obligatory mention of the irony as it relates to a certain slogan, what was filmed in Vegas is headed to Utah. Last spring big-time Hollywood movie-makers were in the city to send Beth Raymer's book debut Lay the Favorite: A Memoir of Gambling from page to screen. The movie adaptation stars Bruce Willis, Catherine-Zeta Jones, Rebecca Hall, and Laura Prepon.

The credits are now ready to roll at the Sundance Film Festival January 19-29 in Park City, Utah. Having read the book in prep for the big screen release, our gut thinks the movie might be even better than the read. It can't hurt when scenes like the Bruce Willis and Rebecca Hall one above are shot here. At the very least, it turns into a game of name that location.

Six Reasons We Can't Wait For September

July 29, 2011 at 12:20 PM | by | Comment (1)

Labor Day weekend isn't the only thing you should look forward to this September in Vegas. Although, we. can't. wait. 'Cause it feels like it's been at least 25 days since the last holiday weekend, ya know? From a first look at the new Plaza to new eats, festivals, and more, here are six reasons why we can't wait for September:

1. Music (and yoga)

There'll be music everywhere in Vegas this September and we're not talking about up in the club. Not one, not two, but three big music festivals are set for September. You may have already heard about the sold out, but not really iHeartRadio fest set for the MGM Grand, but did you know about the music festivals set for Wynn and The Cosmopolitan?

Want To Be In A Movie?

April 27, 2011 at 5:07 PM | by | Comments (2)

If you happen to be in Vegas this week, you may have a chance to either see or maybe even be seen in the filming of the movie "Lay the Favorite", which shortened its name, from "Lay the Favorite, Take the Dog", since we first learned about it earlier this year.

"Lay The Favorite" features Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Justin Timberlake and Rebecca Hall who plays Beth Raymer who wrote the original memoirs that the movie is based on and will be shooting all over Vegas for the next 5 days before heading east, to New Orleans, to finish production.

To sum up the latest news about Justin Timberlake - he's not an A-hole. He is Banksy. He may be Larry. He is returning back to the studio. And, yes, he will host the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital For Children Open in Vegas once again.

The golf tourney will tee it up at TPC Summerlin September 25 through October 2. Tho, that's still seems really far away, it pays to buy your tickets now before July 1 hits. Doing so will save you $5 bucks which might not seem like a lot, but could mean another drink in your hand when you're out on the greens.

Daily grounds tickets will cost you $15, Hill tickets will be $25 a day and weekly grounds tix will be $75 before July 1.

October 22, 2010 at 5:43 PM | by | Comments (0)

Celebs will descend en masse to Las Vegas this weekend as Justin Timberlake calls on his friends to perform at the benefit concert he's hosting at Planet Hollywood for Shriners Hospitals for Children.

So who's set to show? You can expect Elton John, Christina Aguilera, P. Diddy, Lady Antebellum, Salt-n-Pepa, Selena Gomez and T-Pain, plus many, many more FOJT. Tickets to the concerts are completely sold-out but we wouldn't blame you for hanging around the PH to see some celeb action. And of course, we can't wait for all the celeb gossip to come out on Sunday.

Not into this glitzy celeb shindig? Don't forget, Bite of Las Vegas is also happening on Saturday at Desert Breeze Skate Park from 10am to 10pm featuring cheap eats and performances from the lovely Sara Bareilles, iCarly's Miranda Cosgrove and the band Switchfoot.

What can't JT do? Besides Jessica Biel anymore. Wait, they're still dating? Nothing, there's nothing he can't do.

If you’re a golf fan you’re probably aware the PGA is in Vegas this week. Or as the JT Shriners Open pitches it, The Boys Are Back In Town. Non-golf fans are more likely alert to the fact Justin Timberlake is here and there happens to be some golf being played up at TPC Summerlin. The two in fact go hand in hand as JT hosts the annual Vegas PGA event that promotes the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Prelim events are already underway while the main PGA event starts Thursday. Whether you're already going or don't give a rat's ass considering attending, here are 4 Things You Should Know About Attending.

Justin Timberlake is in Town, But Will Jessica Biel Be?

October 16, 2009 at 3:04 PM | by | Comments (0)

If you weren't keeping up with the Vegas stalker twitterati (Norm, Robin, et. al) Justin Timberlake has been in town all this week hosting the annual Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin.

JT played in the Celebrity Pro-Am on Wednesday with golf pro Anthony Kim and he will present the trophy to the winner of the real tournament on Sunday. But before that, he'll be doing what he does best--bringing sexy back at the Mandalay Bay tomorrow at 8:30pm.

But it won't be a solo show. Snoop Dogg, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Ciara, what's left of TLC and Jay Sean will perform alongside him. Even better, JT is donating proceeds from the show to the Shriners Hospitals for Children organization. With ticket prices starting at $250, we sure hope he can reach his goal of $1 million.

JT is bringing sexy golf games back. For the second year in a row, Las Vegas will host his Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. The tournament, which is part of the PGA Tour but not one of the events from which players can earn points toward the FedEx Cup, will take place October 12-18 at TPC Summerlin.

Timberlake himself will play in the Pro-Am tournament on Wednesday, October 14, the day before the pros’ tourney gets under way. Returning to defend the title he won last year will be Marc Turnesa, competing against a total field of 132 professional golfers, including No. 5-ranked Heath Slocum and No. 9-ranked Kenny Perry. Celebrities competing in the Pro-Am include Smokey Robinson, Kenny G, Phil Helmuth and LPGA player and Vegas native Natalie Gulbis.

Justin Timberlake Brings His 'Love Sex Magic' to Vegas

April 13, 2009 at 6:35 PM | by | Comments (0)

Justin Timberlake flew into Las Vegas for a whirlwind trip this last weekend. He started off by flying the commercial airline Southwest from Los Angeles into Sin City, instead of arriving via a private plane. We have to say, we're impressed.

Then he made his way to XS inside Encore where he celebrated his 901 Tequilas in a VIP Poolside cabana. Him and his boys capped off the night at The Playboy Club at The Palms. The next night his crew ate dinner at Nobu in the Hard Rock Hotel before sitting down at the casino tables.

JT wasn't the only famous face out on Easter weekend. The Las Vegas Sun says Billy Idol, Nicky Hilton, Dave Navarro, Anthony Anderson, Macy Gray, Jermaine Dupri and Debbie Harry were among some of the celebs in town.

Have any celeb spottings while you were in town last weekend? Let us know who you saw and where.
