If the Internets are right (and we all know they are), we have less than a month to bid adieu to Kokomo's at The Mirage. Or at least to take a picture in front of it for our Vegas Past scrapbook.

MGM Resorts announced the restaurant's coming closure back in September, but has yet to put a date to it. The Interwebs now tell us that the lobby eatery will shutter effective January 13. Kokomo's will be replaced by a Tom Colicchio steakhouse concept come summertime.

If You Plan It Right, Mom Will Never Know She's Eating For Free

Where: 3400 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89109

What wouldn't we do for mom? She's got us wrapped around her finger and she knows it. If your mum is anything like ours she's been dropping not-so-discreet hints about Mother's Day for a few weeks now. This year, mom has let it be known that nothing says l-o-v-e more than Laz-E-Boy.

We're still trying to figure out if plush reclining comfort is the best expression of our heartfelt thanks, but if it is we we're afraid that Mother's Day dinner would be more of a Mother's Day coffee this time around. But, The Mirage - obviously sensing a dilemma in the air - has given us a way to treat and save, face and bucks.

The resort announced yesterday on Facebook (which is it just us or has their FB page completely disappeared today?) that moms will eat free on Mother's Day. Three of the resort's restaurants - kokomo's (steaks and seafood), Onda (Italian, pictured above) and Fin (Chinese) - will each offer special Mother's Day menus that will allow mom to nom without us having to pay a dime. Well, besides what we pay for our own eats.

The Mirage is Still Celebrating Its 20th Anniversary with Deals on Rooms, Food and Drinks

November 2, 2009 at 1:53 PM | by | ()

If it seems like The Mirage has been celebrating its 20th Anniversary forever, you're right. The festivities kicked off at the beginning of the summer and continued last month with a 20th Anniversary Bash hosted by Slash, but the hotel actually first opened on November 22, 1989. So the Mirage has put together deals to celebrate this exact opening date next month, from November 20-22nd.

The room packages supposedly start at $89 a night with a $50 credit to the Cravings Buffet as well as 20 percent off room charges over November 20-22. Some exclusions apply, like the $15 resort fee each night (plus tax!) and on November 20 and 21st, the room rates are actually a lot higher at $171 a night. $86 rates can be found during the week during most of November and December if you can swing it.

Still, you will be able to find a few more savings elsewhere. Kokomo's, the Mirage's flagship restaurant, will return to 1989 menu prices for their offerings of prime steaks and lobster tails. And throughout the hotel certain drinks like the Purple Passion, The Melon Ball and The Long Island Iced Tea will be only $5. And don't forget, there are some discounted Rejuvenation spa packages on property as well.

While we love the new rooms at The Mirage, as well as the fact that it's home to the LOVE Cirque du Soleil show and the Secret Garden, we're still irked about the $15 resort fee. Ah well, we guess we'll just have to suck it up.
