When we asked what made your knees weak in Vegas, not one of you said anything about ripping down a black diamond on the slopes outside the city. So, we're going to take that to mean that skiing has yet to make it on most people's radar of things to do in Sin City. But, believe it or not, the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort has been in operation for more than 50 years. And, opening day for the 2013-2014 season is today.
Slopes opened at 9 a.m. and, though you won’t get to trample anyone, you can still save up to 25% by purchasing your lift tickets, lessons, and rentals via its newly launched online sales office, skilasvegas.com. Locals can also access special savings.

Las Vegas may have all the fixin's for Thanksgiving, but with an expected high of 72 degrees for the holiday, it definitely won't feel like it. While the temperature may not reflect the time of year (outside of Vegas, anyway), folks can still enjoy two traditional winter activities while in Vegas -- ice skating and skiing.
The Venetian/Palazzo welcomed ice skating back to The Strip this past Sunday. Paying guests can take to the ice daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. through January 6. And, starting November 30, The Cosmopolitan will offer ice skating, too. Also, daily, but times will vary from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. through 11 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. And, yes, you'll need to pay here as well. Expect to fork over between $10 and $20 dollars at either resort, depending on what discounts you can score and whether you'll need to rent skates, too.
How to grab some powder in Vegas this winter. Again, not that kind.
Starting this Friday, Vegas visitors will be able to catch a show, and catch some snow, too. The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort will crank up the ski lifts for another winter of powdery fun this weekend.
Tourists may be surprised to learn that gorgeous ski slopes can be found just an hour away from downtown Vegas during this most wonderful time of the year.
The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort, a little known that gem that even a lot of locals don't know about, offers 11 trails, three chair lifts and a freestyle park for snowboarders.
