Yesterday, we talked about surprises when it comes to visiting Vegas. Who would have thought that two girls, ages 10 and 6, might have the best memory of us all?

United States Air Force Captain John “Arrow” Costa walked onto the pirate ship at the conclusion of the Sirens of TI show at Treasure Island last night, surprising his family by returning home one week early from a yearlong deployment in Qatar.

Cirque Du Soleil Readies Mystere for A Big Anniversary With An Upgrade

December 5, 2012 at 7:27 PM | by | Comments (2)

If it's been a while since you've witnessed Mystere, three new acts are waiting for you.

Cirque du Soleil's unique fan-festival, Cirque Week, continues and we've been behind the scenes at Mystere to witness a special performance by the Chinese Pole team. These acrobats were plucked from Zed, a Cirque production that closed in Tokyo last year. So were the other pair of new additions: a trapeze act that was a hit in Japan and Ginger Ana Griep-Ruiz, a Tissu acrobat. You know, the ones who elegantly swirl around on those incredibly long fabric strips? This group have brought a new buzz to the production, just as they are gearing up for next year's 20th anniversary of life on the Strip.

Cirque Du Soliel Makes A Movie

November 15, 2012 at 1:18 PM | by | Comments (0)

Zarkana is Cirque du Soleil's latest spectacle, but for fans wanting more Cirky Cirky and who can't wait for the King of Pop's Immortal tribute or those that just can't make it to Vegas soon enough, there's another opportunity to get soaked in Soleil right around the corner.

On December 21, the folks behind KA, LOVE Viva Elvis and now Zarkana make the jump from stage to screen in a 3D spectacular movie. Because anything less than 3D just wouldn't be spectacular enough. Cirque brass has teamed up with the makers of Avatar and The Chronicles of Narnia (this one, not that one) to create Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away 3D.

Mystère Leaves Entertainment Options at TI in the Dark

January 10, 2012 at 3:44 PM | by | Comments (0)

Mystère, the long-running Cirque du Soleil show at Treasure Island, is going dark for nearly a month from January 14 to February 11 while it undergoes a revamp.

Robin Leach reports that the show's high bar finale will be replaced with the trapeze act recently seen in another Cirque show, "Zed." Mystère will also get a new solo aerial act and the Chinese poles number will be restaged.

Tickets for the show as it is are still open for tonight and tomorrow starting at $75.60. No word on whether the revamping will affect ticket prices but we doubt it.

However, without Mystère in action there is really no other entertainment options going on at Treasure Island aside from the ever-faithful Sirens and the karaoke happenings and mechanical bull failures at Gilley's. Eeeeeeee.

What's The Best And Worst Show You've Ever Seen In Vegas?

June 29, 2011 at 3:14 PM | by | Comments (9)

Moving is the worst. The task took a turn from tedious to OMGish for us a few days ago, tho, as we started going through all those mementos we all tend to stick into drawers, boxes, coat pockets and promptly forget about.

First we hit upon the stray Vegas room key for Bellagio, ARIA, The Signature and such. Then, we started finding show tickets and that's where we lost it down memory lane.

Tickets for shows we had seen and loved, like LOVE, George Wallace and Folies Bergere. Shows that were just passing through, Cheval, Chicago, Annie. Shows that were ok, if you're into that kind of thing, Blue Man Group, Menopause, Mystere. Shows we hated, Criss Angel Believe. ('nuff said.) And, shows that we had completely forgotten about and for good reason, We Will Rock You, Storm, EFX. (Gah, for some reason we saw the Crawford, Tune and Springfield versions of that show. On the up side, we've erased them all from memory.)

So, it got us wondering, what's the best and the worst shows you've ever seen in Vegas? Share your picks with us in the comments below!

Trump Drops To $99 a Night With New Offer

Where: 3790 S. Paradise Rd [map], 89109
February 1, 2010 at 6:05 PM | by | Comments (0)

The non-gaming, non-exciting Trump Las Vegas may not be one of our favorite places in Las Vegas but you can't deny that they consistently have great rates and deals for their all-suite accommodations.

The newest "Golden Getaway" offer (a nod to the hotel's golden exterior) is available from now through March 30 and offers two nights starting at $99 a night with a $50 hotel credit and a 4pm late check out. The credit can be used at the DJT restaurant or the hotel's spa and should take away the sting of the $15 resort fee. The offer is also throwing in two for one tickets to Mystère up the street at Treasure Island for just $79.

To book, call (866) 471-0438 and mention “Golden Getaway” or visit www.trumplasvegashotel.com and enter code 50HOTL. There is a two-night minimum and just so you know, Mystère is dark on Thursdays and Fridays.
