Slotzilla, the multi-story zipline experience that now towers over Neonopolis at the far end of the Fremont Street Experience, has a certain glow about these nights. What it doesn't have about it anywhere, though, is signage telling us when we can give it a try. So, how do we know it might debut soon? Well, while we haven't been able to find an opening date, we have discovered that Slotzilla did issue a hiring call on Craigslist about a month ago. And, was still looking for folks as of this week. The attraction was originally due to open in June.

No one wants to say when Slotzilla will spit out its first zip liners after missing its targeted opening of June, but from the sounds of things, it could, maybe, be next month?
The Facebook page of the Fremont Street Experience warned fans yesterday that the installment of Slotzilla's cables (called the Zipline and the Zoomline, #funfacts) would cause "mall and road closures over the next 2 weeks," now through this Friday, November 8 and then repeated next Tuesday through Friday (November 12-15) as well.
The shutdowns will mean pedestrians won't be allowed on the mall between midnight and 8 a.m. Yes, you read that right. The Fremont Street Experience will morph into a late-night ghost town most of this week and next. Casino Center and 4th Street will also be closed to vehicle traffic.

The microbrewery-slash-bar, still a work in progress in Neonopolis, is the dream of a group of guys who met while working at Bellagio. A once hoped for debut of March, however, has been pushed back, and back. And, back. Just last month, the plan was to be open by, well, now, but that's since been delayed to mid to late November. (Probably, the last week of November, according to Facebook. So, yeah, maybe look to December, but we'll remain hopeful for November.)

Downtown isn't all scaffolding and openings. It's mostly that, but the still-evolving section of Vegas is also seeing some growing pains, sudden closures, and is keeping a few mysteries of its own, too.
Today, city officials, in response to growing party crowds, have decided to enact a weekend curfew in downtown. As of this Friday, October 4, anyone under 18 without a parent or guardian or not on their way to or from work, could risk a $300 ticket if they're found within a specific area between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. That area is framed by Main Street, Ogden, Bridger and Maryland Parkway, as reported by the Las Vegas Sun which largely encompasses the Fremont Street Experience and Fremont East.

Downtown's Neonopolis is enjoying a resurgence on the coattails of its Fremont neighbors. After years of morphing into a
teenage Vegas wasteland, the neighborhood has produced stores, restaurants, exhibits, and bars that are anything but a drag. However, when Denny's, complete with its own wedding chapel, was announced as the newest anchor tenant, popular opinion was that of one giant step backward toward downtown's roots of cheap eats, dirty dining, and cheese that only a mid-westerner could love.
Bets were made as to which VegasChatter writer would be drunk, desperate or both enough to land there first for an up close and personal. In other words, expectations were low, low, low, low. But, then a funny thing happened after a foodless night at Commonwealth. One starving writer entered, one impressed patron left.
Denny's on Fremont was a super clean, super friendly restaurant with a full bar, photo booth, gift shop and the same super cheap prices we're all familiar with. Yes, it was just a Denny's like every other Denny's yet nothing at all like any other Denny's. We became believers. Even the not-yet-built-but-rumored-to-still-be-on-the-way wedding chapel started to sound like a winning idea. Okay, we didn't go quite that far. But, Denny's on Fremont has inserted itself into our eating, drinking, and people watching rotation. Denny's on Fremont, a.k.a. the one with a bar, isn't gourmet, but is a solid downtown option open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Just like every other Denny's. Just expect it to be anything but.

Krave Massive will bring the party to downtown for the first time on New Year's Eve, but what's being billed as the world's largest gay club will only be ready to party for one night only. It will hold a NYE bash in its movie theater turned ballroom (and is still selling tickets if you're interested), but will head to the Rio in January "for a limited time" while construction continues.

When Denny's announced it was painting Neonopolis yellow (and red) the collective response here at VegasChatter was one big meh. Then, word leaked that Denny's newest grand slam location would boast a wedding chapel and the reaction turned to Oh, dear God.
Well, after several delays and months later, Downtown Denny's... ahem... Denny's on Fremont... is now open for business. And, after a food-less night down the street at Commonwealth, this writer was just
desperate hungry enough to check it out. And. It. Was. Awesome.

The bright yellow facade is just about complete, the interior almost set and the training underway. Denny's is just days away from making its downtown Vegas debut.
The newest eatery on Fremont Street will open its doors in Neonopolis at 3 p.m. this Thursday, November 15. The diner will serve up drinks from a full bar alongside plates of eggs and bacon. A wedding chapel (yes, if you haven't heard yet, marriage will be a grand slam here, too) won't start uniting egg-static couples until early next year, though.
We'll chow down there soon and will bring you a full report.

With all the Vegas delays going on lately, we thought Denny's would be just another to add to the list. But, it's sounding like we'll be able to stop by for a Grand Slam (or a drink from the full bar... or, who are we kidding, both..) next month.
Today.MSNBC.com is reporting that the diner will open in Neonopolis mid- to late November. When we read that last night, we snorted in disbelief, but then we swung by earlier today and found construction much further along than just a week ago.

Our man about Neonopolis, VegasChatter fan sammasseur, has new photos to share of the changes taking place as the long dead downtown venue slowly comes to life. First, up Denny's -- now with bright yellow ironwork:
This is only the beginning, though. There's lots more yellow to be added, according to the rendering of what's to come:

The design is an, erm, interesting one, but one that seems to
poorly echo the poolside bar near Javier's Los Cabos locale at the Cabo Azul resort. Which is weird 'cause the same designer is behind both, but a casino does not a beachy backdrop make.

Krave's recent announcement of its massive expansion downtown revealed a few facts but not many details. The facts, as we know them, about Krave Massive (warning: the name is growing on us) is that the former Neonopolis Theaters will be converted into the world's largest gay nightclub. 80,000 square feet of uniquely themed dance rooms musically synced to house, Top 40, Hip-Hop, country and Latin music.
The massiveness doesn't stop there, though: three separate bars, a martini lounge, members-only VIP lounge, comedy club, performing arts theater, LGBT movie theater, retail merchandise store, conference or multipurpose room and outdoor pool will be included. Phew, we're tired just trying to comprehend the massiveness that will be Krave Massive.
Thanks to the magic of Facebook, we don't have to use our tiny imaginations any longer. Krave Massive has been posting floor plans, construction updates and, of course, pictures spelling out how 14 theaters are being massively transformed. A demo permit was issued around August 6 and crews wasted no time. Only a few days later, a picture of a former theater turning Hip Hop room was posted:
