Nice Broad Definition Of "Locals" At NYNY, Shame The Perks Aren't Up To Scratch
The mythical locals discount in Vegas has always been something of a mystery to us. For a start, the shows you want never have them (hi Donny & Marie, ‘ssup Matt Goss), and for another, the definition of “local” (Nevada ID) seems a bit arbitrary – so you’re “local” to Vegas if you live hundreds of miles away up the other end of Nevada, but not if you’re from Baker. Oh-kay...
So initially, when a “Staycation” offer for locals popped into our inbox from New York New York this morning, we were tickled by their definition of locals - all residents of Nevada, California and Arizona.
But then we had a look at the rates. And then a good scour through them. And we can’t see a single date in the next six months when the price for locals is less than for our friends from, say, Ohio.

'Garden of the Gods' Package Includes Pool Credit and Sunscreen But No Gossy Gear

Only four more days until Caesars Palace Garden of the Gods opens for the Summer 2010 season. For those of you who have been GTL-ing like good boys and girls you should take advantage of the hotel's special Garden of the Gods pool package which includes a three-day, two-night stay along with a $25 pool credit (for food, drinks, merch and cabana rentals) and a pool bag stocked with a towel, a water bottle, sunscreen, lip balm and our fave, a Caesars Palace visor. Goss fans will have to find their own ways to incorporate Matt Goss poolside.*
The package says room rates start at $110 a night but as with everything in Vegas, weekends are way more expensive, about $360 a night. We were able to find a midweek rate of $130 a night in April but finding the $110 rate is going to be a bit of a struggle. On the bright side, it looks like Memorial Weekend is not yet sold-out so book now.
Use code PKGCGOG when booking and use the Garden of the Gods website as plugging the code into the main site does not work.
*And now, we promise to take a good, long break from Matt Goss.

How Does Caesars' Matt Goss Package Stand Up?
No sniggering at the headline either, please
It’s T-11 days now to the glorious Goss debut. Excited? We are. So much so that our hands trembled this morning as we opened the first window on our Goss-advent calendar. (Kidding. Kinda.)
Guess who else is excited? Caesars. So much so that they’ve refurbed Cleopatra’s Barge finally got round to launching their Matt Goss package. The Gossmeister told us this was planned in January, and we’ve been hounding them for details ever since. And on Friday, they finally released it. Progress!

Southwest and MGM Mirage Will Give You Up to $200 Off Your Vegas Vacay

$200 off the Bellagio? Get in
We flew Southwest to Vegas from LAX last week and, apart from the weird boarding order, we loved it (bearing in mind we come from Europe where lowcost means a Pamplona-style race for seats and flight attendants who seem to think that smiles are a chargeable frill).
So we would definitely be up for this offer that Southwest Vacations have just announced. Book a three night or more flight and hotel package staying at any MGM Mirage property and you can save up to $200.

Spend More But Get Way More at the Wynn and Encore
Because not even the most optimistic economic prognosticator is anticipating an end to the recession before the fall, we’re seeing lots of great deals with long windows of availability cropping up. The latest: Wynn and Encore Las Vegas “Indulgent Getaways,” available now through September.
Resort room (Wynn and Encore’s standard-caliber room) rates during this time period start as low as $159 at Wynn and $169 at Encore (both rates quoted are mid-week), based on our quick calendar search. Purchase an Indulgent Getaway, however, and you’ll pay a rate starting at just $429 per night for two nights’ resort room accommodations, two rounds of golf (normally priced at $500 per person) and a prix-fixe lunch at The Country Club steakhouse.
If the Wynn folks were to knock the two-night-minimum on this one down to one night, we know a bunch of locals who’d likely take advantage of it. That rate really is a great value for a course that’s nearly inaccessible to the average duffer otherwise.

The LV Hilton's Spa Package is Good for Your Back and Your Wallet

If you're planning to hit Las Vegas this summer, the LV Hilton has your number: 189. For just $189, you can reserve a Spa Package between May 1 and September 30. The hotel has cheaper deals like the Summer Getaway Package which is just $135 for two nights deluxe accommodations, six buffets, two passes to the spa, and two welcome cocktails at Shimmer Cabaret. But we're kind of digging the Spa Package instead.
That's because you get the same two nights' accommodations, plus a $75 spa credit—so you can actually have a treatment instead of envying the robe-and-slipper-wearing crowd. And, they throw in:
·20% off your spa treatments
· $100 in "Dining Deals" coupons
· A $25 gaming chip
· Two cocktails at the Cabana Bar
· Special pool cabana rate: $20 for half a day and $40 for a full day. At that price, it might make sense to book the package just for the cabana deal!
To book, call (800) 457-3307 and use code ZSPA189.

Where to Find Show Tickets For Less

The great thing about this recession we're in is that hotels are starting to include once-pricey show tickets in their hotel room packages. For instance, The Mirage has just announced a Terry Fator Weekday and Weekends Packages which includes two nights in a deluxe room and two tickets to "Terry Fator & His Cast of Thousands" available now through May 16. Prices start at $263 for weekdays and $313 for weekends.
And anytime you book any kind of package at The Luxor, you can bet that two tickets to Criss Angel's poorly-received show Believe will be included. So if you see the show and hate it, at least you can say you didn't have to pay full price for them. And you probably got some other perks too.
Even The Venetian's new spring promotions start at $169 a night and include $40 off to Golden Circle or Front Orchestra seats at Phantom of the Opera.
Still, not all the shows in town are thrown into the hotel package mix which is why the Las Vegas Review Journal says the Tix4Tonight booths might be your best bet for scoring further discounts.

Get Your Wings from Harrah’s Hotels and Fly Free

The latest attention-grabbing deal being offered up by the Vegas resort community comes to us from Harrah’s, owner of seven hotels ranging from the (un)Imperial Palace on the low end all the way up to the princely Caesars Palace.
With the Get Your Wings promotion, you can book a two-night or three-night stay at any of Harrah’s properties (which also include Bally’s, Rio, Harrah’s, Flamingo and Paris) and Harrah’s will give you an airline voucher: $200 with a two-night stay or $300 with a three-night stay.
We gather you’ll receive your voucher once you get to town, so the point is obviously to incentivize you to return again soon. And since you’ll be feeling flush with all that unspent airfare money in your pocket, you’re more likely to splurge at the tables, restaurants, shows and spas than you might otherwise have been. So, from Harrah’s perspective, it’s win-win for everyone.
