Drinking the Eiffel Tower Actually Deserves A Little Respect
Drinking the Eiffel Tower under the Eiffel Tower. See what we did there?
Ever wandered along the Strip and looked down on the people guzzling away at their Eiffel/Stratosphere towers as if their lives depended on it? So have we, friends. So have we. But however much we told ourselves souvenir drinks are so touristy and so trashy and so ghastly, there was always a little part of us despo to try it out ourselves. So when we got the occasion to indulge in some Stripside drinking thanks to our stay at Caesars last week, we knew exactly what we’d be chugging. And it would be 12 inches and shaped like the Eiffel Tower.
And now we’ve done it, we can say how harshly we judged imbibers in the past. Because it takes a lot of guts to drink an Eiffel Tower and risk throwing those same guts out the next morning. It requires strength – both physical and mental. And finishing it is a feat on a par with the finals of the Nathan’s hot dog contest.

Man Gets Very Lucky in Vegas: Giving 7,777 Hugs in One Day

Las Vegas is known to be the city of stunts--some of them spectacular, most of them cheesy--but yesterday, there was one stunt we could really get behind, or in front of, actually.
Jeff Ondash, a 51-year-old man from Ohio broke the Guinness World Record for hug-giving on Saturday night in front of Paris Las Vegas. To do it, all he needed was to hug 7,777 people. Ah, the lucky 7s. And it's crazy to think that's how many people are walking along the Strip in a given day. At least!
NPR reports that Ondash did it to raise money for the American Heart Association during American Heart month, a cause near and dear to his heart since both his father and brother passed away from heart problems.
But Ondash wasn't just some lonely soul standing on the Strip asking for hugs. No, no, no. He has a whole hug-asking persona and a crew that cheers him on.

Looking For the Restroom? Paris Makes It Easy
With its cobbles and its boulevards and all its signs in French (le concierge, anyone?), Paris can be a confusing place. And nobody wants to be confused when they’re looking for the toily, so we were relieved (hur hur) to see this interactive Directory of Bathrooms the other day.
It’s not just a directory of bathrooms, though; no, there’s listings and maps of the whole property, covering dining, entertainment, nightlife, gaming, spa and shopping, convention rooms and hotel services as well. It’s touchscreen, so you just press the one you want, and it takes you to the map, and your nearest facility. Sorted!

Fill Up at Mon Ami Gabi Before The Festivities (and Alcohol) Go Down
Party Foul: A mistake made at a party by someone who should know better and thus ruins, either momentarily or forever, a good time.
Don't commit a party foul by forgetting to coat your stomach before New Year's Eve. Even though this is Vegas and you are practically licensed to get as drunk as you'd like, no wants want to hang out with Pukey Pukerson, especially not when they are searching for a person to kiss at midnight.
Fortunately, Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Las Vegas is hosting a New Year's Eve kick-off soiree from 5 to 7pm, giving you plenty of time to eat before the parties begin.
Diners can sample a tasting menu of French fare and regional wines, all for just $40 per person, including tax and gratuities. Since eating well on New Year's Eve is tough to do in Vegas without getting gouged, this is a great deal.
As for room rates on New Year's Eve, hopefully you have yours squared already as both Paris and Bally's next door are sold-out.

Paris Gets in a Holiday Mood With 'The Nutcracker' and Low Room Rates

When we were a kid and had bad dreams, our mother told us to think of something happy and our distraught thoughts were always distracted to the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker.” There was something kinda mesmerizing about sugar plum fairies that may or may not have danced through our heads that would pull us out of our scary monsters-in-the-closet mode.
Anyway, for the very first time ever on the Las Vegas Strip, the Nevada Ballet Theatre is taking its tutus and pointe-shoes to the stage at Paris Las Vegas to debut “The Nutcracker.” Choreographed by Peter Anastos, there will be just six performances: Dec. 18 (8:00 p.m.), Dec. 19 (2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.), Dec. 20 (1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.) and Dec. 24 (1:00 p.m.).

For Romance and Cowboys, Hit the Paris Lobby at 3pm Today
Admit it. Sometimes, as you’re walking down the Strip dodging the card snappers, or in a bar, looking at the couples who’ve just bonded over their 12th daiquiri, you get the impression that Vegas isn’t romantic.
It’s OK to think that, say the folk at Paris, the hotel of love – and to perk up your romance antennae, they’re bussing in romance author Linda Lael Miller to give you hope. Well, technically to sign copies of her new book, Montana Creeds: Dylan, but we’re sure she’ll give you some wooing advice while she’s at it.
And if that hasn’t swayed you, maybe this will – according to her website, there will be cowboys. And, thanks to VegasChatter, you already know what to do with them.
Linda and cowboys hit the Paris lobby from 3-4pm today. Yep, you’re welcome.

There Will Be a Wait But the Pictures Will be Worth it at Paris' Eiffel Tower
So, we always thought it was funny that Paris Las Vegas named one floor of its parking garage after the “Eiffel Tour.” “Tour,” you may know, is the Frenchified spelling of “tower,” but in France they actually call it the “Tour Eiffel.” Oh, well. Perhaps we’re just hanging on a bit too tightly to our junior high-level grasp of the French language.
Paris’ Eiffel Tower is actually a half-scale replica of the real thing, and features both an 11th-floor restaurant and a 460-foot-high observation deck reached by the “Eiffel Tower Ride.” Take this elevator trip to the top and enjoy a view of the Strip from one its most scenic, centrally located points – as well as the commentary provided by your elevator attendant.

Mariachi Festival Coming to Vegas, Red Necktie Not Required

Break out your sombrero and silver-studded pants because the 19th Annual Las Vegas International Mariachi Festival is coming to Paris Las Vegas on September 12th.
The annual event headlines the toast of Mexico City, Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlán, as well as Mariachi Sol de México De José Hernández, playing songs of love, death and betrayal on violins, trumpets, guitar and a Mexican harp. As if that’s not enough to get your toes tapping and your heart thumping, the foxy star of a prime time Novela on Univision, Lucera, who according to event coordinators is "extremely beautiful" and show has higher ratings than American Idol will also be there. It's Vegas -- you gotta bring in some eye candy.

La Creperie: A Taste of Paris at Paris

The concept of a fine breakfast is wonderfully subjective for most of us and it can change from week to week depending on our mood, schedule and even a lifestyle change (that diet you might be on consisting of egg whites and a grapefruit - but we shouldn’t digress).
So you're in Vegas, and if there is one thing this city teaches you is that you have to break out of the ordinary if only for a brief time and try something a little different. In this case, we heartily suggest starting your morning with a desert crêpe at the La Creperie kiosk located in the Paris Las Vegas.

At Home with House Music for ROK’s ‘Patio Nights’

ROK Vegas nightclub at New York-New York Hotel Casino is all about music, so it stands to reason that the venue would be home to some of the hottest outdoor parties on the Strip.
The latest parties, however, come with a twist: they’re all outside. Every Friday night, the club hosts what it’s calling Patio Nights—house music spun on the outdoor patio between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The DJs behind the ritual rotate every week, but one of the regulars is Miss Dust.

Coming Soon to the Hard Rock Hotel: Las Vegas Tequila Fest
We suppose it’s on purpose that the Las Vegas Tequila Fest is being held this year at the Hard Rock on September 11 and 12, which is the weekend prior to Mexican Independence Day (September 15). There are usually boatloads of Mexican celebrations going on that weekend in Vegas, as visitors claiming Mexican heritage flock to town to celebrate their biggest patriotic holiday of the year. And what better way to do so than by attending a two-day fiesta dedicated to sampling top-shelf tequilas at one of the best party hotels in Vegas?
Since it’s primarily designed to allow tequila distributors to promote their brands within the industry, food and beverage professionals can score free tickets to the event here.
