Caesars Prepares For Another Hangover Next Thursday
Disclaimer: possibly not these three though
Orlando Bloom? Old news. We’ll have you know that one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive will be hanging out at Caesars Palace next Thursday. And, if you cross your fingers right, there might even be two of them.
Because next Thursday is the launch of The Hangover on DVD, and to celebrate, Warners are throwing a bash at PURE. Sexy Justin Bartha, who we last saw swanning around the aptly-named Garden of the Gods in People’s list, is going to be there. So is the lovely Heather Graham, as well as Rob Riggle, Ken Jeong and director Todd Phillips.
As for Bradley 'be still our beating hearts’ Cooper, he’s TBC (along with Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis). We’re crossing fingers and toes, but seeing as he’s off in Vancouver filming The A Team, he probably aint gonna show.
Never mind. Justin will do.

Vdara Breaks Out The Bubbly (and Orlando Bloom) for Opening Night

Yes, the newest hotel in Vegas is the Vdara Hotel and Spa and we were fortunate enough to spend opening night at the hotel AND to attend a special, private-ish Vanity Fair party to commemorate the very first opening of the massive CityCenter complex.
We say private-ish because although there was a tightly enforced guest list, anyone who had booked a room at the hotel last night could also attend. Which would explain why there were some folks decked to the nines in cocktail chic attire (Vegas locals and media) and others who roamed around a little bewildered in jeans, t-shirts and boots (hotel guests.)
Needless to say the Vegas glitterati was in full force, even if the party vibe was classy and low-key. For the women that meant hair (lots of it), boobs (lots of them), crazy patterned black tights and short mini-dresses. For the men that meant suits or nice slacks and a button down. Thankfully, there was no Ed Hardy in sight. A success!
Of course, the high-up execs from MGM Mirage were there including CEO Jim Murren (who we saw getting pumped for info by the dapper gossip pirate, Norm Clarke) as well as a few real deal celebs like Rosario Dawson, photographer Sebastian Copeland and our husband Orlando Bloom.

The 'Happiest Mayor in the World' Has the Best Business Card in the World

We already knew that Mayor Goodman sounded like a hoot from articles like this, and even if we hadn’t, we’d have guessed it from pictures from the BA London-Vegas launch party like this.
But we have newfound respect for after he gave us his business card at the party. What happened was that we lurched up to him excitedly and slurred our goodwill at him, he flashed us the indulgent smile of a man who can’t cross a casino floor without some drunk lurching up to him excitedly, and handed us his business card.

A Glimpse Into the Very Near Vegas Future: Brits On The Strip
Three signs of a good night: you wake up clutching a poker chip in one hand, Elvis Presley’s email address in the other, and your camera seems to have magicked up pictures of you with vodka luges and feather boas that you definitely don’t recall going anywhere near. This was our morning after the BA London-Vegas route launch party at Studio Valbonne in London last night.

Mayor Goodman was guest of honor along with his wife, Carolyn, his showgirls (six of them) and his Elvis impersonator. Two Cirque du Soleil folk were doing acrobatics around the room, Rain DJ Paul Oakenfold was on the decks, and everyone was in the party spirit – including the waitress who was so sozzled that she fell over as she was taking a picture of us with Elvis.

Mayor Goodman and His Girls Have Landed In London; Mel B Confirmed for the Party

The mayor has landed! Oscar Goodman and his showgirls arrived in London today in preparation for tomorrow’s party celebrating British Airways' direct London-Las Vegas flights which launch on Sunday. Good thing they put them in business class, what with those head-dresses.
And here’s Mayor Goodman looking pretty perky, considering he’s straight off a red-eye (we’re guessing from LA, unless they laid on a special Vegas flight for him. Which we wouldn’t completely disbelieve). The suits are (L-R) Rossi Ralenkotter, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, Mayor Goodman, and Richard Tams of British Airways. Loving that black cab – and hoping it was taking him to Buck House to meet the Queen…
In still more happy news, those nice bods at BA listened to our plea to get Mel B along to the bash – she confirmed this afternoon. That’s what we call customer service. Now if they could only abolish their ridiculous seat-booking charges, we’d love ‘em to bits. Any chance of you hearing us on that one, chaps?
Full party report, complete with Mayor Goodman, Peter Andre and the lovely Mel B, to come on Friday.

Paul Oakenfold, Oscar Goodman and, um, Peter Andre Ready for London's BA Launch Party

Just nine days to go until the launch of direct British Airways from London to Vegas and we got some word about the party. It’s taking place at Studio Valbonne in the West End next Thursday, and Rain DJ Paul Oakenfold will be on the decks (the night’s doubling as a launch party for his new album Perfecto Las Vegas).
Guests of honour will be Mayor Goodman and his showgirls, Jen and Porsche, and our sources say they may well be joined by former England captain Matt Dawson, his teammates and tabloid staple Peter Andre. Not sure what any of that crowd have to do with Vegas (the rugby tournament maybe?), but until recently Peter was married to Jordan and his last business venture was MCing a male stripper show, so he should be just fine.

The Mirage Celebrates 20 Years With People Who Were Famous 20 Years Ago

Perhaps to distract you from the new $15 resort fee that was implemented today at the The Mirage, the casino hotel first opened by Steve Wynn is throwing its official 20th Birthday Bash tomorrow hosted by someone who peaked in fame 20 years ago--Slash. He will be joined by other late 80s stars like Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, and Keifer Sutherland, who will actually be the master of ceremonies. (Quick, someone get Kiefer a Christmas Tree!)
The festivities will kick off tomorrow night at 9pm at the Bare pool lounge and an all-star performance from Slash, Courtney Love, Led Zeppelin drummer Jason Bonham, Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorrum, the Pussycat Doll's Nicole Scherzinger and American Idol star Chris Daughtry will go off at 10pm. (Initially, Adam Levine, Tommy Lee and Rob Zombie were set to perform as well but had to cancel.) There's also supposed to be a special celebrity performance as well.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Vegas-Style

Even to the most jaded Vegas partygoer, the Midsummer Night’s Dream party at the Palms this Saturday sounds like the shindig to end them all.
Conceived as the “sister act” to the annual party of the same name at the Playboy Mansion in L.A., the Palms event celebrates its third year this weekend with three full days of what sounds like a debauched good time for all. It’s adopted the theme of “A Pirate’s Guilty Pleasure,” with promises of booty ranging from an open bar (it’ll be flowing with everything from Ketel One Vodka to Perrier-Jouet Fleur de Champagne) to an exotic set bevy of enticing “characters.” Here’s a snapshot:
The Palms Casino Resort will be transformed into an excursion back through time full of mystery, adventure and wonderment. This year’s theme is “A Pirate’s Guilty Pleasure” where the pool will feature castles, taverns, islands, cannons, caged womanimals, treasure and jewels, even a life-size pirate ship. This swashbuckling party is sure to captivate all of your senses in the dark and mysterious intimate setting.

The Battle of The UFC Parties Has Begun

The Ultimate Fighting Championship 100 rolls into town this weekend on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay. The fights begin at 4pm and run until 10pm with two championship bouts being held between Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar for the heavyweight title and between Thiago Alves and reigning champ Georges St. Pierre for the welterweight title. Tickets are steep, starting at $100 a person. There will also be a fan expo earlier in the day at the Mandalay Convention Center from 10am to 4pm.
Of course, there's a another way to enjoy the UFC without getting to close to all the violence--hit up the after parties. Rok Vegas at New York-New York will be hosting a party for Frank Mir starting at 12:45am (after the fight.) Other UFC fighters are expected to attend. LAX and Tao are throwing after fight parties as well.
And don't forget: there will also be a ton of UFC viewing parties throughout the Strip on Saturday. Hawaiian Tropic Zone and the Mandalay Bay Beach are just a couple of the places doing the live viewings. Mandalay will do theirs on an LED video wall. But be prepared to cough up some dough as bars will charge admission to cover the pay-per-view costs (and you know, just to make more money.)

AC Slater To Show Off His Abs at Azure at The Palazzo

Apologies for the pool-heavy coverage today but it's Summertime in Vegas and the pools are where the action is.
We just wrote about the top three pool parties to hit up when you visit Vegas but this weekend, you might wanna look around. Over at Azure at The Palazzo, Mario Lopez (aka AC Slater from Saved By the Bell) is hosting the pool's official grand opening party tomorrow at 11am. If you want to see Mario shirtless in person, you better arrive early.
At Tao Beach at The Venetian, DJ Steve Aoki will be spinning during the pool's Sunset Sessions this Sunday.
And right now at Wet Republic, Shwayze and Cisco Adler are hosting Wet Republic’s Hot 100 Voting Party. (See VegasBill's live Twitpic.)
If you’ve been in tune these past few weeks, Wet Republic has been looking for Vegas’ 100 hottest locals, and it’s the finals of the finals. Don't know who Shwayze and Cisco are? You may remember them from their short-lived reality show “Buzzin’” and Cisco used to date Mischa Barton. Can’t get away? DJ Bad Boy Bill will be at the ultra-pool on Sunday.
If you're partying at the pools this weekend, let VegasChatter know!

Kick Off The Unofficial Start of Summer at These Memorial Day Parties

The pool at The Rio
Memorial Day Weekend is a popular weekend in Vegas – but then nearly every weekend equates to a quarter-million-plus tourists swarming the landscape and myriad reasons to party at the city’s various nightspots. We scoured the calendars for the next three days, though, and came up with a few especially eye-catching ways to celebrate summer’s official kickoff in Vegas:
VooDoo Lounge atop the Rio will be the site of the next Girls Gone Wild “hottest girl search” tonight. Guys, yer welcome. Ladies, you can’t say we didn’t warn you – and if wonton exhibitionism isn’t your thing, you might want to go easy on the poolside mojitos for the rest of the day. The debauchery begins at 10 p.m. and goes until midnight.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Will Celebrate Their Anniversary at The Palms

The one-year anniversary party of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon at The Palms tonight just goes to show you that Vegas will find a reason to celebrate anything under the sun. Anything!
The party kicks off at 10:30pm at the Moon nightclub and Nick Cannon will make an appearance later to DJ a set of tunes which will no doubt include remixes of "Touch My Body", "Fantasy" and "Heartbreaker" and his one-off hit with R. Kelly, "Gigolo." We're assuming that Mimi will be in the crowd too but no word on whether she'll break out her bedazzled microphone.
All-access admission passes can be bought on Vegas.com for $25 and those will get you admission to Moon, Playboy and Ghostbar.
