September Means New Hours at EBC But Clear Heels Are All-Seasons

We know that you still have a few more days left in your rigorous GTL schedule before the summer ends but we think you ought to prepare for the inevitably wind-down of Vegas Pool Parties, starting with the Encore Beach Club.

The pool and its Surrender nightclub have announced new Fall hours will go into effect today:

Encore Beach Club: Friday through Sunday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Surrender Nightclub: Wednesday through Saturday, 10 p.m. – closing.

Vdara Gets into The LGBT Pool Party Scene with Abbey Beach Every Sunday

Summer may be winding down across the country but Vdara Resort and Spa is set to make a splash on Sunday. The famous Abbey Bar in West Hollywood is heading to the beach, er, rather the desert with a regular Sunday LGBT pool party called Abbey Beach.

Vdara’s chic Pool & Lounge will be decked out with The Abbey’s colorful flags and beach balls, while its 19 fully appointed cabanas will be serviced by the handsome Abbey Boys. The Abbey’s bartenders from West Hollywood will make special appearances to keep the signature mojitos and martinis flowing while a rotating lineup from The Abbey’s resident DJs will keep the party moving.

A Mid-Summer Wet Dream: The Vegas 2010 Pool Scene, So Far

Way back in May we prepped you with what to expect from the Vegas pool scene this summer with our 2010 Field Guide. Now that we've had a few months to let the chlorine marinate a bit, we decided to check in on how these pools are faring.

The biggest cannonball splash obviously belongs to the Encore Beach Club which we seriously thought would blow the other pool scenes out of the water. EBC does have some hot amenities--go-go dancer/shower girls, poolside gaming, fun drinks, great DJs. But this is a party spot for party animals, much like other pools in Vegas and the same rules apply.

Admission cost is high (especially for dudes, the thongs ride even higher, the cocktail drinks are expensive, the fist-pumping is out of control and the one spot where you may be able to add a few extra inches in your personal bubble--a cabana--is more expensive than a month's mortgage on a house.

As if the pool at The Palms needed another reason to get sexed up but here it is anyways--rapper Ludacris, who recently filmed a music video at the casino, will be performing a full-on concert on August 5.

Tickets are available on sale at the evil Ticketmaster for a reasonable price of $30.00. Then the inconvenient "convenience" fee of $10.15 is added for a grand total of $40.15. Not so bad for a top rapper in an intimate setting.

Not the 'Dream' Shakespeare Had in Mind But We Think He'd Like the Bodypaint

Once again the Midsummer Night's Sex Orgy Dream will return to The Palms Pool on August 14. The party is sort of a "sister act" to the annual party of held at the Playboy Mansion in L.A. and if you're keen to attend, there are two things you must do:

1. Plan your costume and mask in advance: People take this event pretty seriously. Think about it--some folks save up all their money all year long just to attend the event in Lil' Bo Peep outfits, mermaid costumes, pirate wench outfits or whatever the party's theme is. This year it's gods and goddesses so the least you can do is shear off a white silk bedsheet and tie it around your body.

Can You Take the Heat? Then You Might Enjoy This Job

Everyone, meet Tee. Tee, meet everyone. Apart with the guy at Liquid whose only function is to fill a waterpistol from the pool and shoot it at people, Tee surely has one of the most fun jobs in Vegas – he gets to wander round a pool party and talk to people.

OK, technically entertain – he has to play the drums while he’s on duty here at Azure at the Palazzo – but when we met him on Saturday, he was ambushed by a drunk douche who misappropriated the drums, allowing Tee to take the weight off his shoulders for a bit (because that thing looked heavy), step into the shade (can you imagine wearing that outfit in 115 degrees?) and engage us in conversation. Lucky guy!

Bare Is Just Like 'Heaven' for the LGBT Crowd on Saturday Nights

It looks like The Luxor may have started a cool new pool party trend---LGBT nights. But it turns out Bare at The Mirage has been hosting, Heaven, a new LGBT dance party on Saturday nights since March.

Promoter Eduardo Cordova, who created Revolution's "The Closet Sundays" (also at The Mirage) has "transformed the pool area into an outdoor nightclub featuring winged angels, cabanas and clear dance floor over the pool." Local performers and DJs, including resident DJ duo the Perry Twins, along with go-go dancing boys AND girls, provide the entertainment.
