Calling All Californians: The M Resort Wants To Save You Money
We love it when a deal turns out to be a real deal, so after our disappointment at the lackluster “locals discount” at New York New York, we’re pleased to report that the M Resort is doing things the right way.
When we drove past a billboard offering 30 percent off rooms to California residents a couple of weeks ago, we assumed it was more of a tease than anything else. So we were very excited when we called the M this morning and asked about the offer.

The Westin Casuarina Has Weekends for $99 a Night (and Change)
In our never-ending quest to find cheap rooms on the weekends in Vegas, we've come across a new low rate at the Westin Casuarina Hotel, Casino and Spa located across from Bally's on Flamingo.
What we like about the hotel is that all of the guest rooms are non-smoking and the casino is far less hectic than any of the other Strip casinos. We actually spent an entire night playing blackjack here because we liked our quiet but full table and our dealer/philosophy teacher. (Don't worry, we got wasted as well.)
We're also digging the hotel's excellent weekend rate of $99 a night.

The Tropicana Is Shifting Rooms For As Low As $28
A brand new room for $65? Not bad
The Tropicana is changing and it wants you to know about it. Not content with doing a multi-million dollar upgrade on its Paradise Tower and ditching Dirk Arthur, it’s just dropped its room rates to a superlow starting price of $28 and bunged in a free upgrade as well.
ravelzoo brought this to our attention: between 7-10 March (yes, book quick) and 3-7 April you can bag a double room for $28. And on March 11, 22-24, 28-31, and April 8, 18-22 and 24-29, they’ll cost you $35.

Room Rates Looking (Gasp!) Do-Able for Super Bowl Weekend
Pass out here at Encore for only $274 a night.
Next weekend is Super Bowl and we thought the rates at the hotels in Vegas would be going up, up, up. But they are actually looking pretty--dare we say it?--normal. MGM Grand rooms are at $150, Flamingo Las Vegas is at $109 a night and the Venetian and The Palazzo are holding steady at $209 a night (don't forget the $15 resort fee.)
Caesars Palace, however, is upwards of $330 a night but Wynn and Encore are just $279 and $274 a night, respectively.
We were on the hunt for five-star digs for less so we turned to Hotwire last weekend. We were able to nab a suite-sized room for $144. We aren't allowed to divulge where we're staying but we say give Hotwire a whirl if you want to go lower than what the regular booking sites are giving you. (Just remember these tips.)

For V Day or Rugby Sevens, You Need to Book Now
You won't always have Paris. Sorry bout that.
If you were mulling over a V Day break in Vegas, we hope you’ve already booked it. If not, you may be in for a nasty surprise, because there’s a little thing called Rugby Sevens going on that same weekend. (It also happens to be our birthday, but we’re pretty sure that’s not what’s filling up the hotels).
And thanks to all those pesky sports fans flying in from around the world, Vegas is seriously low on rooms.

Rooms at Aria are Sold-Out on Opening Night
As we head into the last weekend before the world will change forever aka the final culmination of CityCenter's Grand Opening Party, we decided to check on rooms at Aria Resort and Casino for December 16th, opening night.
Sadly, if you're looking to book a last-minute room here, the place is sold-out. According to the website's availability calendar, the next night open is December 17 for $159. Next weekend is also open at $169 a night.
But if you're looking to stay on New Year's Eve, which we think would be awesome, the rooms are not so bad--$299 on December 30 and $399 on December 31.
Plus, you can tell your friends you spent New Year's Eve at CityCenter. They'll say, "What is that?" And you'll say, "You know, the new massive complex in Vegas next to The Bellagio that has three new hotels, a luxury retail mall and a Cirque du Soleil show all about Elvis?" And they'll reply, "There's a new hotel next to The Bellagio?" This will go on for some time. But still, it's worth bragging about to people who know about it.

Skylofts at MGM Now Slightly More Affordable
The Skylofts at MGM Grand are one of the sweetest suites on the Strip. They are comparable with the Wynn Tower Suites and with the new suites atop Hotel32 at The Monte Carlo. But staying in one of these suites usually means emptying your bank account or being a sycophant of extreme douchebag proportions to someone you hardly like but has a ton of money. Make sense?
But DealBase.com just alerted us to this awesome deal that not only gets you the suites for less but throws in some perks as well.
Now don't get too excited. This is still an expensive hotel room and you got to be there on the right dates. The new deal will get you that room as low as $600 a night for a 1-bedroom suite when it's previously gone for well over $1,000. You will also get a $50 in-Loft dining credit daily, daily free gym access and $100 spa credit per stay.

The Mandarin Oriental 'Fans' Las Vegas Guests With Free Night Offer

There's only a month and a half to go until CityCenter opens in December and the good news is, room rates seem to be on a downward trend. Last week we told you that Aria was dropping its rates and Vdara is doing the same thing with $129 room rates on opening night.
And it looks like the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas has thrown its hat in the deal ring as well.
The Mandarin is offering a special complimentary night offer on opening weekend, December 5 and 6. "We Fan Vegas" gives guest a free night's stay, although the price of the first night is a hefty $595. Still, that breaks down to about $298 a night which is do-able. It's also available for other room categories at the hotel if you feel like splurging.
Even better, the offer is valid through February 2010 and it requires only one night's stay to get a complimentary night. Go Here for more details.

Room Rates Drop Again at Aria at CityCenter
VegasTripping's Twitter feed tipped us off to the drop in rates at the upcoming Aria Hotel at CityCenter so we scurried over to the hotel's website and found out that on December 16, Aria has no rooms open. But Vdara does have rooms open at $109 a night. which is way down from $159 a night. The resort will still have a $15 resort fee.
However, a deluxe room at Aria was open the next night (Dec. 17) for $159. That's down from the initial $199 a night, which was later lowered to $179 a night and now sits at $159. Will it go down to $139 by its opening date? We say yes and probably even further down that that. Good news for us Vegas visitors, bad news for MGM Mirage.
