How To Get Free Drinks For Being Social

If this is the start to a new Vegas trend, we think we're in heaven.. and we'll most definitely be at the bar. Two Vegas bars, specifically. PBR Rock Bar at Planet Hollywood's Miracle Mile which started offering free booze to its Twitter followers every Thursday back in April and, now, McFadden's at Rio is on the verge of launching its Social Social Event.

The Mirage Experiences Kardashian Khaos

Kardashian. Just the word will evoke squeals, disgust, eye rolls and, some cases, slight nausea so it's no surprise that when The Mirage excitedly revealed plans for a Kardashian Khaos retail store on Facebook, kalamity ensued.
We're excited to announce Kardashian Khaos is coming! A new retail store will open later this year & you're invited to experience the Kardashians like never before!
Close to 100 people gave the news a thumbs up, but just as many blasted the hotel for its decision with some going as far as saying they'll never stay there again:

How To Get 5,000 Free MLife Tier Credits

MGM Grand has been tweeting about an ambiguous Mlife promotion where you can earn 5,000 tier credits. We weren't sure if we had to jump through hoops or go to Facebook and "like" something so we kept our eyes peeled to see what the deal was. Turns out all we had to do was enter our Mlife players club number, email and date of birth into a form on Facebook and we were granted our 5,000 tier credits.

What Ladies Need to Know About Getting into the Clubs

All the single ladies, all the single ladies. And taken ladies too. Our Club Kid BrandyAlxander is back with her firsthand expertise on getting into the best Vegas clubs and partying VIP style. We know, we know. Dudes probably need more help with this but you're just gonna have to wait in line a little longer.
My first glimpse into Vegas’ nightlife scene was when I was 13. I wasn’t partying it up like Drew Barrymore did in her wild child days (though that would’ve been amazing, celeb rehab and all). It was when I was watching MTV’s Real World: Las Vegas, the first go-around, when the seven strangers lived in the now infamous suite at The Palms.
I really shouldn’t have been watching the show, but even at the tender age of 13, I knew I was destined to dance the night away with my friends in some posh setting. And since I turned 21 last year, I’ve visited 21 of Vegas’ nightclubs. (They don’t call me a club kid for nothin’!)
So far in my crash course of clubbing, I’ve learned how to distinguish from “VIP Entry” scams and even how to score a free table with bottle service.
Allow me to help hook you up. And by “you,” I mean just women. Sorry dudes, this one is for the ladies.

Behind The Curtain of NYNY's Tweets
Most Vegas casinos tweet these days, some with a team working the buttons behind the scenes while others opt to fly solo. Unless you know someone that knows someone you might be limited to following @WynnLasVegas, @FlamingoVegas, or @RivieraLasVegas. But what if you want more behind the scenes scoop and pictures?

Weinergate Hits Las Vegas
We can't turn a TV on the past couple days without being hit in the face with Weinergate. For those cutoff from anyone with a political opinion or holed up in reality show quarantine, Anthony Weiner is the Congressman who publicly tweeted a pic of his junk instead of sending it via direct message, apparently the preferred junk sending method of social media.
Just as the last tear started to dry out on the story, more of the women Weiner communicated with came forward with their story. One of those Weiner women is a 40 year old blackjack dealer in Las Vegas who admitted to exchanging over 220 messages with the Congressman since August 2010.

Now You Can Shop The Resorts of MGM From Your Phone (Kinda)

So, we're thinking this one will be filed under "because we can."
MGM Resorts now has an app for all of its retail stores, outside of the luxe boutiques inside The Crystals. The iPhone application lets you browse the shops of ten of its hotels including ARIA, Bellagio, Monte Carlo and New York-New York. The key word here being browse as you can't buy anything, 'cause why would you actually want to - you know - shop.

Wynn Is Sorry To Hear That

Ummm... Is it just us or has the Twitter stream for Wynn been filled with more apologizes then Rod Blagojevich lately?
Over the month of May, @WynnLasVegas tweeted about 36 times and 12 of those were full of respectful "could you please DM us" contrition:

Oh, We Almost Forgot About O

MTV is hosting a new awards show tonight honoring music on the 'net, because who shows watches it on TV anymore, anyway?
The O Music Awards are set to stream live from Fremont Street Experience tonight, but it's already slowing our Internet speeds with a live attempt to set a Guinness world record for freestyle rap now at the one hour, 29 minute and 6 second mark. 7 seconds. 8. Whatever, you get it. If you don't, there's a handy on-screen countdown, or rather count up. And, before you ask, 100 percent - "I'm gonna hit that shit quick, don't be nervous" - un-family friendly entertainment.

Whatever the O Music Awards Are, They Are Happening in Vegas

There's yet another awards show happening in Vegas and we wish we could get it up for the O Music Awards but we just can't. (Yes, we're too old, we know this.)
Apparently, MTV has created a new awards show to celebrate "art, creativity, personality, technology and migration of music into the digital space." The inaugural edition of the awards will be happening in Vegas on April 28 at 8pm and it will be streaming online as well as airing on MTV, VH1 and LogoTVbut the whereabouts of the show is still a secret. Yet MTV promises a flash mob (weren't those so 2008?) at a "surprise iconic Las Vegas location."
(Our money is on the Hard Rock as that's where MTV just wrapped up their Real World Season.)

Foursquare Says Wynn's Is Bigger Than MGM's
Foursquare experienced 3400% growth last year. Which is just hard to wrap our hands around as the e-mails we've been getting only promise growth of an extra inch or two. Wait, what? Oh, 3400% growth in users and check-ins.
In bragging about their accomplishments, someone at Foursquare crafted a fancy graphic touting stats like 381,576,305 worldwide check-ins.
Number of Wendy's who have checked in at Wendy's? They've got that (224). Care to know what categories of check-ins are highest at various times of the day? There's a mountainside cutoff graphic explaining that.
The fun facts that grabbed our attention most though were Top 3 Wine Bars, Top 3 Food and Drink, and Top 3 Music Venues. While heavily U.S. focused, it's good to know the next time we're in Thailand, we can sip wine with a throng of Foursquare freaks.
Also shown is Top 3 Hotels: Ace Hotel in New York, Wynn Las Vegas, and St. Regis San Fransisco. The Wynn is #2 in the world? That shocked us. It's a nice hotel and all but when it comes to counting Foursquare check-ins, we assumed there would be a correlation to asses in beds. And according to a 2009 list, Wynn is only the 18th biggest hotel in Las Vegas, let alone the world.
If we were on a game show playing for boat loads of money, we'd have bet the farm MGM Grand would make the list. Perhaps Wynn has a higher occupancy rate or some other guest measurement (there's that theme again) so that it turns out size doesn't matter. Or maybe a higher concentration of smartphone users stay at the Wynn vs. the Zack Morris fans down at MGM.

Monte Carlo's Prez Is A'Twitter, But Will You Feel The Same?

We remember going to the opening of Monte Carlo back in 1996 and thinking 'this is it?'
Even now some 14 years later, Monte Carlo is one of those Strip hotels that's seldom top-of-mind, though, not for lack of trying. These days, the hotel has switched from matronly to being the sexy cougar on the block with new, if not 'you gotta eat here' restos, a swanky new boutique hotel on its top floor, new if not revolving entertainment (Lance Burton Zowie Bowie Frank 'on the way out' Caliendo) and a fire-and-ice theme that recently brought Minus 5 and Ignite Lounge.
Now it seems that Monte Carlo is targeting the tech-savvy set with its come hither stare. Not only are high-level execs taking flight on Twitter (a bit too annoyingly from the RT lovefest currently taking place on @MonteCarloVegas), but now the property's president Anton Nikodemus (the dreamboat pictured above) is setting hearts a-Twitter, too, through the handle @MonteCarloPrez.
