A Few Vegas Deals in Southwest's (Not Great) Latest Sale

March 23, 2010 at 2:37 PM | by juliab | 1 Comment

Live out somewhere in the sticks? You may be in luck with a ticket to Vegas. Southwest announced a three day sale this morning, offering cut price fares on loads of its routes.

Sadly, none of the obvious ones to Vegas are included, and the prices aren’t as good as they have been (we could have done with some bargains to LA like the $25 we flew for in January), but if you happen to live on any of their chosen routes, you could nab a deal.

Hey Southwest, That's Clever Branding You've Got There

Hey Southwest, can we get a reward too?

We know Southwest loves Vegas, but we didn’t realize how much Vegas loves Southwest back till we spotted this, er, “work of art” in the Viva Vegas giftshop at the Rio.

Here’s the whole pic, which costs a paltry $9.99 (excluding frame, of course):

Southwest and MGM Mirage Will Give You Up to $200 Off Your Vegas Vacay

January 12, 2010 at 5:09 PM | by juliab | 0 Comments

$200 off the Bellagio? Get in

We flew Southwest to Vegas from LAX last week and, apart from the weird boarding order, we loved it (bearing in mind we come from Europe where lowcost means a Pamplona-style race for seats and flight attendants who seem to think that smiles are a chargeable frill).

So we would definitely be up for this offer that Southwest Vacations have just announced. Book a three night or more flight and hotel package staying at any MGM Mirage property and you can save up to $200.

Flying to Vegas from LA Will Only Cost $25, Thanks to New Southwest Sale

October 27, 2009 at 7:49 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

If you live in the Los Angeles area, you're in luck as Southwest has just launched a sweet new sale with flights to Vegas starting at only $25. Our brother site, Jaunted had the news on the cheap fares this morning.

The sale starts today and ends at 11:59PST on October 29th and is good for travel between Dec. 2, 2009 and Dec. 16, 2009, or travel between Jan. 5, 2010, and Feb. 10, 2010. The prices are easy to remember as everything is increments of 25. Flights up to 375 miles start at $25 one-way. Between 375 and 549 miles, fares are $50 one-way. Between 550 and 999 miles, fares are $75 one-way. Flights longer than a 1,000 miles will be the more expensive of the group, starting at about $100 per ticket.

Indeed, the popular route of Los Angeles to Las Vegas was available mid-week for $25. And with hotel rooms already low during the week, especially in December, this might be the best time to see Sin City for less.

Flights To Vegas Now Even More Wild With Spontaneous Nudity

August 20, 2009 at 8:07 PM | by EK | 0 Comments

Well, that happened: on Southwest Airlines Flight 943, Vegas-bound from Oakland, earlier today, one of the passengers decided to get naked, or expose himself. It's being reported differently in a few different outlets. Whatever happened, some part of someone was definitely naked, and it definitely provoked some kind of fisticuffs on the plane.

Luxor Says Your Friends Fly Free on Southwest With New Deal

July 31, 2009 at 11:44 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Yes, this is the Luxor we're talking about and while the casino and public spaces have made vast improvements (we love Tacos & Tequila and CatHouse), the rooms are still in pretty bad shape. Still, this new deal sounds kind of awesome.

Luxor is offering a free flight to a second person when you book a flight and hotel package to Las Vegas using Southwest Airlines. The deal is good for travel from August 17 to January 7, 2010 but you only have until August 10th to book.

A five-day purchase is required and there are some black-out dates (the usual suspects: Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year's.) Also no travel on Fridays and Sundays which is like, when everyone wants to arrive and depart Las Vegas. But staying mid-week has always yielded the best deals in Vegas so this is no different.

Southwest Honoring The Military with Free Drinks and Faster Boarding on Memorial Day

May 22, 2009 at 6:56 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

On Memorial Day, Southwest is honoring all military servicemen and women by giving them a complimentary alcoholic beverage or Monster Energy Drink onboard when they show a military I.D.

In addition, Southwest will let these special passengers board after business select and deplane first. So if you're flying Southwest to or from Las Vegas on Monday, don't get all huffy when you see some extra folk queuing up after business select.

VegasChatter will be honoring all the men and women who have served for our country by taking the day off from publishing. But that doesn't mean we won't be spying on all the action in town. Let us know how your weekend in Vegas is going by become a VegasChatter member and submitting your Vegas observations. We love getting photos too so email them to us if you got some good ones. You can also follow us on Twitter.

While we know nudity happens on The Strip, please keep those Twitpic stripteases to a minimum. See you on Tuesday!
