What Goes On in The Palms Suite When The Jackson Kids Come To Town

March 3, 2010 at 9:37 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

The Palms is definitely not our first choice for a kid-friendly hotel in Vegas but when Michael Jackson is your father, we're guessing no one is reading any "Best Scenes in Vegas for Families" type of stuff.

But when the Jackson kids hit up The Palms over Thanksgiving (remember, they also stayed there last August), they had someone film a Cribs-style video of the suite. Showbiz411 reports that the kids were "romping around" their suite (the Hardcourt Suite).

Really, it's just a poorly lit video following one of the Jackson kids (not Michael's) around the suite as the dude behind the camera creepily chimes in with.."Mmm...I like that." Also, we think that's Blanket running around in the background.

Then again, we can't blame these kids for going crazy over their suite. That is EXACTLY what we would do, video tour and all.

Here's what else is going on in Vegas:

The Aria's SkySuites Make You Feel Sky High

Where: 3730 Las Vegas Boulevard [map], 89109
December 23, 2009 at 6:13 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

The sweet suite with the killer view is, as Theate3541 guessed correctly, a one-bedroom Sky Suite in the new Aria Resort and Casino. These suites have a separate entrance from the rest of the hotel, a dedicated check-in desk, a private lounge stocked with food and drink and roundtrip transportation from the airport. It's actually quite similar to the Hotel32 the swank digs atop The Monte Carlo.

Inside the rooms have all the high-tech amenities of the regular rooms like flat-screen TVs and a control panel that controls all the lights, drapes, temperature etc. But there's a separate living room area, a powder bathroom, a huge master bathroom, a wet bar and a small dining room table for four. The table has the killerest (?) views of all. We can't wait to strike it rich one day and order room service up in this suite.

But until then, staying in the suites will require some creative accounting. One-bedroom Sky Suites start at $575 a night.

Can You Guess The Sweet Suite with the Killer View?

December 22, 2009 at 8:46 PM | by juliana | 1 Comment

Over at HotelChatter, we like to play a little guessing game called Guess the Hotel where we post pictures of hotel rooms, list a few easy to medium hints and then ask readers to drop their guesses in comments below.

Since Vegas is so much more than hotel rooms, we'll have to come up with a cleverly named guessing game of our own. But for now, see if you can guess which Sweet Suite this is:

· This suite is located in a separate wing from the main hotel and has its own entrance.
· The suite has one bedroom and one and a half baths.
· The place is brand-spanking new.

Ok, we hope we didn't give it all away with that last hint but if you think you know the answer, drop your guess in comments below. Extra scratch n' sniff stickers go to the person who can give the full name of the suite.

PH Towers Now Open to Guests With Rooms Starting at $149 a Night

Where: 80 E. Harmon [map], 89109
December 21, 2009 at 6:22 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

As if last week's CityCenter opening wasn't enough opening excitement for Las Vegas, the new towers from Planet Hollywood, called PH Towers, have just opened today.

The all-suite tower was created as a timeshares building but it is open to regular "transient" guests. When we looked at the reservations system, rooms were sold out pretty much until next year. Which is not very far away. Heh.

Most weekends require a two night stay but during the week, you can pretty much stay whenever and however long you want.

Rates for a one bedroom suite with a king bed, a full kitchen, a drop-down projector screen and a view of the pool starts at $179 a night. Not bad! A studio suite is even cheaper at $149 a night and it still has a kitchenette.

How Sweet is This Suite Offer From Caesars Palace?

Where: 3570 Las Vegas Boulevard [map], 89109
November 16, 2009 at 6:13 PM | by juliana | 1 Comment

Earlier today on Twitter we saw that Caesars Palace was offering suites for 50 percent off using the code 50Suite. That seems like a hefty discount so we decided to see just how much these rooms would now cost us.

Right off the bat, we were skeptical about a weekend stay so looked at weekdays first (ugh, we know). We found rates mid-week from December 14-16 for a remodeled Forum Tower Royal Suite for $195 a night. These rooms come with separate living room areas, oversized spa bathtubs, new amenities like LCD flat-screen TVs (one embedded in the bathroom mirror) and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. Meanwhile, regular rooms in the old Roman Tower are going for $90 a night.

And to our surprise, we also found weekend rates available for Dec. 18-20 for only $200 a night.

On the other hand, an offer came in the mail from Wynn's Casino Marketing that offered us a $99 stay at Wynn with a complimentary upgrade, if available, to Encore. This was for weekdays but the weekends start at $169. Both offers include a $75 resort credit. Not a gambling credit, resort credit.

It's hard to choose between the two. The space of the Forum Tower Royal Suite is sounding mighty tempting but $75 to spend at Wynn/Encore? Which one would you choose?

What You Find Inside The Barbie Suite at The Palms May Surprise You

Where: 4321 West Flamingo Rd. [map], 89103
November 9, 2009 at 11:17 AM | by globetrotting gourmet | 1 Comment

We were totally a Barbie girl (in a Barbie world) growing up. We had the corvette, countless Kens, the pleather carrying case and a wardrobe that would make Paris Hilton’s pretty little blonde head spin.

So, while we think all the themed suites at Palms are swell (especially if you have gobs of money to spend), we’re especially tickled by the Barbie Suite. Kinda like a real life Malibu Dream House, the spacious, 2,350 sq. ft. suite was designed by Top Design judge and fifty percent of the design world’s most famous gay twosome, Jonathan Adler.

Once you get over the initial shock of Pepto Bismol pink in all its estrogen-fueled hues, the über-girlie accents are pretty cute and clever. We giggled like a school girl at the sight of the lace-up corseted “dress” chairs, the shoe patterned wallpaper, and oh yes, the kitschy sunburst mirror made from 65 reproduction 1959 Barbie dolls.

Where the Toilet Seats Rise To Greet You

November 6, 2009 at 2:54 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

We all know that the high roller suites in Las Vegas are all about ridiculous luxury. These suites--in reality, full fledged apartments--are often filled with things you would never use, not even during your time there. Although, the stripper pole in the G-suite shower at The Palms could conceivably get some good use.

But over at The Palazzo, there's something that we find highly practical inside the hotel's three and four-bedroom Chairman's Suites.

The Robb Report's newest issue has a detailed Vegas section and a piece that profiles some of the luxest suites on The Strip. This is where we learned that inside the Chairman's suites, the toilet seats in the master bathrooms rise up when you enter the room.

Genius!

Sitting On Top of The World In a Hydrotherapy Tub

November 4, 2009 at 9:24 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

We've talked a lot of big game about the Hotel32 atop the and indeed, big money is what you will need to stay in one of the hotel-within-a-hotel's penthouse suites. Approximately $1,000. So you should take advantage of the hydrotherapy tubs that are in the suites. These tubs will massage you every which way and even offer up some in-tub mood lighting. Aaaaaah.

What's Inside the Flamingo's GO Suites?

October 19, 2009 at 2:42 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

The Neapolitan GO Suite

You already know that we're big fans of the Flamingo's GO Rooms--poppy, peppy, high-tech rooms that make staying at the legendary Flamingo hotel enjoyable again. (As does the coconut scent that wafts through the lobby.) But we've learned there's an even grander way to enjoy the GO rooms--by booking a GO Suite.

There are three types of GO suites--GO Metropolitan, GO Neapolitan and GO Cosmopolitan. The GO Metropolitan suites average 1,500-sq.ft. (bigger than our apartment) and are located on the 27th and 28th floors with killer views of the Strip. The two-bedroom, two-bath suites also feature four 42" HDTVs and three entertainment centers. The decor is actually different here with dark wood furniture and splashes of orange instead of white and pink.

Then there are 14 GO Cosmopolitan suites which are 800-sq.ft one-bedroom suites that feature living areas and bar areas. Lastly, there are 38 GO Neapolitan suites which are 650-sq.ft. and are just essentially just a little bit bigger than the GO rooms.

All suites however feature the same techy amenities we love in the GO rooms such as Denon® sound system with an MP3 player docking station, CD/DVD player, remote control blinds, LED reading lights, wireless internet, and high-definition televisions. And our fave, TVs in the bathroom mirror.

Skylofts at MGM Now Slightly More Affordable

Where: 3799 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89109
October 16, 2009 at 4:30 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

The Skylofts at MGM Grand are one of the sweetest suites on the Strip. They are comparable with the Wynn Tower Suites and with the new suites atop Hotel32 at The Monte Carlo. But staying in one of these suites usually means emptying your bank account or being a sycophant of extreme douchebag proportions to someone you hardly like but has a ton of money. Make sense?

But DealBase.com just alerted us to this awesome deal that not only gets you the suites for less but throws in some perks as well.

Now don't get too excited. This is still an expensive hotel room and you got to be there on the right dates. The new deal will get you that room as low as $600 a night for a 1-bedroom suite when it's previously gone for well over $1,000. You will also get a $50 in-Loft dining credit daily, daily free gym access and $100 spa credit per stay.

Inside a Luxury Suite at The Palazzo Las Vegas

Where: 3339 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89109
August 24, 2009 at 7:48 PM | by juliana | 1 Comment

Keep up with our Las Vegas Hotel Video Tours here or head on over to HotelChatter for a full library listing.

One of the reasons we like the rooms at The Venetian and The Palazzo is simply the space. These suites are huge, a total of 725-sq. ft. with a separate seating area and a large bathroom that features both a shower and a bathtub. Seriously, don't stay here alone. All the extra space will make you sad.

The rooms also feature some sweet amenities like remote-controlled Roman shades and three flat-screen TVs, one of which is in the bathroom.

The room decor, however, is a little odd. It's like something of a cross between Italianate and reluctantly modern, with a pinch of retro throw in. It's just strange. And mostly dark, which is a contrast to the light, airy and happy main lobby. Then again, dark colors hide stains rather well.
