In Downtown Vegas, Sunday Strike Still Possible

Another tentative deal has been made between a downtown casino and the Culinary and Bartenders Unions.

This morning, it was announced that an agreement had been reached with The D; although, its sister casino, Golden Gate, is still among a shrinking number of downtown casinos with expired union contracts. Also in that group: Four Queens, Binion's, Plaza and Las Vegas Club... no one.

Will workers at nine Downtown Vegas hotel-casinos walk off the job this Sunday, June 1?

That's the deadline set by the Culinary and Bartenders Unions after negotiations with The D, Four Queens, Binion’s, Fremont, Main Street Station, Plaza, Las Vegas Club, El Cortez, and Golden Gate have failed to yield new contracts.

Downtown union workers could walk off the job at 5 a.m. on June 1.

The Culinary and Bartenders Unions have set that timetable for a strike against nine downtown casinos: The D, Four Queens, Binion’s, Fremont, Main Street Station, Plaza, Las Vegas Club, El Cortez, and Golden Gate. Each of those properties have expired union contracts.

You have questions and we have answers! Timely answers, at that. We were walking through The D the other day and were reminded that many casinos still offer free gaming lessons. This experienced gambler hasn't taken a gaming lesson in a while, but it's nice to see that casinos still offer this kind of education.
